Kasturn (UK) - The Torchbearer Fades (Album 2024)

- Second full-length from this London based trio, and definitely a progression from their already killer debut self-titled album.
Carrying the flames of the 90s, which are indeed fading into oblivion in this day and age, Kasturn deliver over 40 minutes of cold and blistering atavism, thrusting its blade against the throat of modernity.
Highly influence by the Finnish hordes of late 90s and early 00s, as well as projects like Mütiilation and even with some moments of solar and melodic bliss that reminisce with Eisenwinter, and some passages of devotional introspection of Branikald on the excellent "Stilling of the End", this album is a clear step up in songwriting and variety, without ever conceding an inch against revisionism and futile gimmicks. Pure pagan power and worship.
Mastered by M.O. of The 333 Guard and to be released on tape via Unmatched Dominance. Digital already out via bandcamp.

A excellent howling back from the 90's! That's why I like the kind of musical ortodoxy of black metal: it' never seem to run out of projects which kept the style alive, there is always some awesome revisitation, making it inherently nostalgic. Cheers!
Excellent mixture of melancholy and power. Melodic riffing without being lame. Thanks for uploading.
I love the artwork, so real and simple
One of the best BM acts at the moment, and for a while now. Love their mix of influences, but that Old School, back to the roots facet is what got me in the first place. Very few bands are able to recover that old sound without sounding fake or forcing a sonic reality that is not theirs.
Shredding brilliance with just the right type of melodies to bring me back time and again.
Killer oldschool sounding mid paced bm with great riffs⚔
"Strive and Subdue" a BBH worship ❤
Perfect!
Damn the EP was already a beast...
great job ! love last song
Very good like a breath of new air
This is going to be hard to top this year...
This is definitely my jam
Hope for a physical output of this one (would prefer CD)...
Full support!

Love that massive crispy guitarsound, reminds me a bit of Abyssic Hate…
