Mbappe has the better goals and in my opinion he is also the better player but he needs a better team/players that suits him. I really wanna see Mbappe at a PL team maybe Man.United or Liverpool that would be epic and to see his skills in that competition because we all know Ligue 1 isn't that high level in comparison with PL or La Liga or even the Serie A at the moment. Haaland is nonetheless an amazing elite striker but I'm not as impressed by his goals as that of Kylian Mbappe.
Man has highlights of doing it in the World Cup even the WC final. There is no Bigger competition in football than the World Cup. PL is good league but Ligue 1 is good too, just not popular enough coz they not shown on most English networks. Very competitive league. N he did it in UCL too 40 goals, 24 assists at 24 years old. 13 goals, 14 games World Cup. He has proven it on the biggest stages in World Football. He is the Best.

Mbappe hasn't really dropped form, he just plays in a league in which we rarely hear about him since he got eliminated from UCL. Also, only Haaland has more goals than him this season

He's celebrating like he won the UCL after scoring 2 goals against nameless clubs to overtake lacazette in the league top scorer race. He doesn't even compete for the European Golden boot. Playing in that shxtty league for years now, he should have atleast got a couple of golden boots, but he has none! Harry kane has same league goals as Mbappe in the premier league even though Spurs is still to be qualified for any European competition. Same for Mbappe what's your point ? I'd argue he draws even more attention than Haaland, plus he doesn't have a KDB, who is arguably top 5 best player in the last 3 years and feeds Haaland beautiful assists.
Just look at some of the least impressive games of Mbappe, you'll see for instance against Morocco or England in the WC, where people say he was non existant, he actually draws 2 to 3-4 defenders at all time, even beating Walker and delivering an assist to Dembele who missed the open goal. If this goal had gone in, the game would have been over much sooner and Mbappe would have been praised for months.
Overall Mbappe is really just better (not by much though), but the players, aside from being forwards, are quite different anyway.
I think Haalan is going to continue Zlatan's legacy.

Don't act like Messi is completely out of the race. Winning the UCL and premier league with the best tram in Europe is one thing. Carrying an average Argentina side to a WC glory single handedly is another thing! And Haaland is yet to give his masterclass in the UCL final. He scored 5 goals against Leipzig which they won 7-0. Apart from that he wasn't that crucial. Bernardo Silva and KDB carried the team in more clutch situations.
To put things into context Haaland only has 6 G/A contributions more than Messi this season. Yes he has scored a lot of goals, but Messi has provided a lot of assists, which is being undermined a lot because he is Messi. If that is KDB or Muller, we would be talking about it a lot.
So, yea haaland is still not the absolute no.1 unless he gives a masterclass in the UCL final.
And you don't get a Ballon do'r for losing the WC final, and exiting the UCL at early stage, when someone else won the WC and did the same thing.
