There’s so many little details in this, like the punctuation marks that have unique powers that reflect to the actual ones, G calling the letters in Morse Code, the word Coward when lowercase n zooms out towards f, the fact that LMNOP is a superhero team because it goes fast in the alphabet song, when N is a superhero he is Ñ, X having to multiply with an asterisk. It’s insane that a series with this many small details has so little views. Seriously underrated!
Also to those who said that this has about 20M views, this comment was written when it was around 100K.

It’s usually jokingly said in low budget one-off animations, but this story LITERALLY has themes of love, betrayal, friendship, compassion and humor. Just by watching this I have the desire to use the alphabet more often. Thank you.

This is deeper than you all think
F is copeing with the trauma of being hated by everyone in a very aggressive way because the others refuse to forgive him for his past actions.
And it technically wasn’t his fault either. He he only spelled “frick” because L pushed him into r,i,c, and k.
But I also understand why n didn't want to help f, cause if he did, he would've been be beaten up like f was. So all he could do is walk away from the situation by betraying him.

Everyone is talking about how tragic F’s story was, but what about Q. Q spent his whole life trying to warn the others, but failing only being able to tell everyone when it’s too late and all he could do is watch

N’s story is sad too. I think the implication is that N turned into Z. He was so sad about F’s death being his fault that he hunched over on his side, and stayed there until all the emotion drained from him, turning him white.
Moral of the story: don’t stand idle when you see bullying.
@@KidKomical I'm pretty sure Z is just a goliath the other letters live on, because we see the cave on top of his head during the end, also because of all the cracks and Z's low pitched voice.
Z's Punctuation Mark is an Ellipsis "...", used for ominous tones or silence, and Zs are usually used ti depict the sound of snoring (idk why that was always written like that). So from what we can infer is that Z is the silent watcher, asleep yet awake to see the tragedy of this civilization unfurl into chaos and treachery.
And ñ is angry at all of them for forgetting they exist
maybe that's why they play the ABCs song at the end, probably because it isn't the ABCs, rather the popular lullaby Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

I was expecting N to evolve into Z and kill F but they took it in a different and ultimately better direction where they humanized F and explained his actions, which also deepened the running theme of N's cowardice and gave an origin story for the punctuation marks, as well as explaining why Q was chasing them the entire time. Truly one of the masterpieces of our time.

I love the detail about the punctuation symbols.
Their powers reflect their function:
. can freeze letters but , can only slow down letters
! makes letters fast
; and : can bind letters together
* used as a wildcard to mean 'many' can create copies of a letter
Even how they were created in nZ makes sense:

The music at the end, Y being used as a punch-line, the letters being able to form words, the backstory, the use of the punctuations as special gems, and how the lowercase and uppercase letters meaning age. Each letter is introduced in order, you never see them before their place in the song comes up! It's all, perfect! 10/10 would watch again, anytime.

I came to this thinking I'd see something stupid, and this is a true hidden gem. You made this so well done that it sends a great message about friendship and bullies. Z feels so bad for F in this situation, and he couldn't do snything about it since he holds all the other letters up. And F was blinded by revenge that N had to make the ultimate sacrifice and kill his only childhood friend who turned evil. Truly a masterpiece.
one thing that i don't see a lot of people talking about is that F still wanted to be friends with N because if you look when Q is about to spit out the ? it spells out "FRIENDS" on the wall, but everyone is dead meaning F was collecting those specific letters and planned to bring N all along just so he could be friends again

I can't stop feeling emotional over this... it explains the effects of bullying perfectly. F was only trying to help n, but that same kindness caused him to turn into an alphabet killing machine. Q trying to warn them this whole time was really sad, because it was too late. F was killed by the one friend he loved and cared for the entire time. And Z having to watch all this helplessly made me cry along with him. :..( I felt super touched when the alphabet song started to play around the end of the video... A perfect story that should be turned into a movie some day!!!

This series was emotional and I’m not even lying. I genuinely started crying at the end. I was expecting some silly animations but instead I found a creative masterpiece. The fact that you took inspiration from something so simple as the alphabet and turned it into such a series with an awesome and deep lore is amazing! I really hope we see more of this and get and happy ending in the future!

The show was great had very cool details like there letters say there letters and I like wen the bad guy is F because F is for FREAKY so that's pretty fitting I rate the show 7/10 very good.
13:43 Suddenly, every single one of F's actions make sense.
First he was bitten by C, then again before killing him. Then he was shot by J, hence why he used I to blast him, he was jumped by I, which he did the same, jumped by T, whom he hammered. Then he was beaten by E using D, which is exactly what he did when he was introduced. Then he tripped G, which was what happened to set everyone in this quest, all of his tears were stolen by L, M, N, O, P and X, with Q getting a vision of what was to come.

14:38 is the saddest part for me, let me explain
After mostly all the letters abandoning f, Q was the only one left behind, meaning they left him behind before, Q could never catch up with them ever since childhood, and finally got to tell them the truth using the question mark jewel but it was too late, finding everyone dead, q has the same expression on his face, tiredness, and sadness. Notice how Q, L, and O were one of the only main letters left behind, my theory is that F is going to come back from the jewel he used from X, cloning himself. And finally take revenge on L and O, possibly foreshadowing what they did to him, just like all the other letters. F pushes L and rolls over O or flattening O. But leaves Q unharmed, because Q never acted violent against F since he was too slow. Back to 14:38, you can see Q’s eyes shot up and moving a bit, showing he just saw trauma nobody wished they had, Q tries his hardest to try and get to the other letters, to warn them about impending doom, but he was always too slow. Also if you see it from F’s perspective you can see Q far behind and N hiding behind the formed word Coward, O was the only one in that word that bullied N, explaining why N is behind O and only O, also before that you get to see the form ABCDE but no F, meaning F is gone in the alphabet to them, and G couldn’t take F’s place since he was with P. Everyone forgot F and Q, and all Z can do is watch their life, while he can’t have a life. You truly did an amazing job getting emotional feeling into this story
F never did that to L or O.
But they might in alphabet lore 2.. if it ever comes out..

I just found out that G refers to everyone in Morse code. The attention to detail in this series is absolutely astonishing, which is even more impressive considering that this storyline apparently fell into place on complete accident (IIRC). Also happy 20k subs Mike!

then he called C (long G short G long G short G or -.-.), A (short G long G or .-) and B (long G short G short G short G or -...) and made them spell out "CAB".

How the hell do I learn or noticed a new detail about this whole project everytime I rewatch it? That's a lot of polish and detail for an animation about the Alphabet.
Alphabet's anatomy (adult form):
A - Two limbs that can function as arms and legs
B - Two wings and a nose/beak like a bird or a butterfly.
C - Two fins swimming through the air. Retractable teeth.
D - Head.
E - Head. Prominent lower jaw and a nice pompadour.
F - One leg, head with strong jaws and sharp (broken) teeth.
G - Upper limb is, in fact, a trunk. Lower one is arm. Able to speak in morse (probably high cognitive abilities).
H - Two legs and two arms. Ghost.
I - Stationary? Able to fire dots.
J - Able to fire dots? Lower end is not a limb?
K - Two wings. Insectoid.
L - Able to deflect shots? Lower end is not a limb?
M - Two limbs that can function as legs and possibly arms.
N - One leg and one arm. Knee is also top of the head, and elbow is also a nose. Mouth is located under a knee.
O - Wheel. Location of an eye can change (at least between transformations). Cyclopean.
P - One leg, head with a big chin (that perhaps may also be breasts).
Q - Slug-like body, big vertical mouth, long eyes.
R - Two limbs that can function as legs and possibly arms. Cyclopean. Shaky (mentally unstable?)
S - Snake-like body.
T - Hammer headed, shark-like body, swimming through the earth (Z's body).
U - Ends are not limbs? Slug-like eyes.
V - Ends are not legs, but they do look like arms.
W - Siamese twins. Ends are not legs, but they do look like arms.
X - Two legs. Upper ends are top of the head, but may possibly act like arms.
Y - One leg. Upper ends may possibly act like arms.
Z - Planet. Diagonal mouth, eyes have different height. Cracks. Able to speak?
Z is just the silent watcher since he isn't able to interact besides watch, but if P's chin is some breasts then F had a great time chewing those off and running off
How long did it take to write that down

Got popular in five days
When I was a child (and still now) I would love to make stories out of basic things like colours or cards, but everytime I would get stuck on the origin or who their parents were, that would always mess with my brain and make me feel guilty that my stories didn't make sense. But after watching this video and how Z turned out to be the planet, I realised that it's not about the biology but about the creativity.

X having the asterisk is a double reference. Obviously he multiplies because X is frequently used as the multiplication symbol, but the asterisk is also used as a multiplication sign in algebra so the letter isn’t confused for a variable.

I love how detailed this is, one that not many people pointed out is how H dies by smelling a fart, later on is literally farted out. So many little things make this whole video better as a whole

My favorite moment
Did anyone think about the fact that "H" is a ghost. I know he died from smelling a bad fart, but can we talk about the fact that the letter "H" is usually silent in a word. such as honor, hour, honest, heir, vehicle, and vehement. (but the last two kind of depend on your accent and how you say things). But "H" being a ghost in this context means that he is silent, considering you can barely hear him in his introduction, 1:09. What do you guys think?

The fact that F gets revenge on a lot of letters in the same ways they beat him up as a kid, like stomping on I, shooting something at J, and nailing T back into the ground, or how other parts are mirrored in that section, like C biting F, just adds even more to this. It's insane that you made an animation about the alphabet that could be analyzed for hours.

Q's character was tragic, maybe even *MORE* tragic than F's story. My guy legit had to sit through the trauma of realizing what's about to happen, tries to tell the crew, but is too slow for the other letters to care. It's like looking into the future realizing your best friend is gonna die, trying to warn them, but they think your joking. That must suck *TONS*

Q when it gets near all the other letters but they drive away for the 69420th time: Goddammit
I don’t have the most knowledge when it comes to animation, but I absolutely love how F has so many more idle frames than the others just to show how chaotic and potentially liquified (goo-ified) he is. And if you notice during the flashback, the more he gets hit, the more frames he gets.
I also love the attention given to other dialects, such as H fading in with the ghostly trill to mimic the “haytch” pronunciation, N’s super form being Ñ, and Z’s little “d” noise at the end not only to sound like “zed” but also saying “ze end.” I’m wondering if we’ll ever see RR, LL, or Æ.
One last thing, I know everyone’s clamoring for a sequel with numbers or the Greek alphabet, but I don’t think those allow for nearly as much creativity as the Latin alphabet does. Numbers don’t have the versatility with all the letters forming words and references to their song, unless a way is found to give mathematical equations as much plot relevance (COWARD/FRIENDS), fun designs (CAB/VAN), and humor (GUN/FART) as the alphabet did. And good luck with the Greek alphabet, don’t know how much creativity you can squeeze out of that without doing months of research just to have like 2 people get the joke. If we do get a sequel, I hope it’ll be about exploring Z and his ellipsis powers, and maybe finding a way to restore peace to the alphabet.

Q had such interesting character development, Q is seen to be this slow, snail-like character (because it's the letter after the fast l m n o p) but realizing how Q was following them and saying "Q" every time it shows up, come to find out that Q was trying to warn the other letters of the inevitable fate of all of the other letters, and every time it say "Q" it's calling out to the other letters, to warn them,
i love how x was used, it has an asterisk as their special gem and can multiply (and both the asterisk and x are used for multiplication) and then the reveal for Z, being the ground they were on the whole time,
I went into this video expecting some simple, funny stuff but nothing too much, in reality, i got a great story, great use for characters, with every little detail being intertwined with the letter. thank you Mike for blessing me with, truly, a work of art

summary:
Instead of killing all the letters, F’s main goal in the series was to kidnap all the letters in “friends” (possibly to spell the word). This is because F was friends with the letters in “friends” but it almost ended because of L & O’s bullying. Once they managed to hurt N, F got payback on L&O by spelling “fart” but that only started to make F the target for bullying. L then pushed F together with R I C and K to spell a (so-called) swear word with O getting everyone’s attention. This had made all the letters hate F and thus hurt him continuously. To me, N was just there when F tripped and didn’t mean to trip him but the problem was that he betrayed F because he was a “coward” (linking back to W’s introduction) this made F cry those Punctuation Gems and separate himself from the other letters. Lastly, when Q ate the question mark, he saw what had happened in the future and tried to warn the other letters but was just too slow.
Another thing to note:
Each of the Punctuation Gems have a superpower:
Period - Freezes Someone
Comma - Makes time slower
Colon&Semicolon - Forces letters together
Exclamation Point - Super Speed
Asterisk (*) - Duplication

The three most tragic characters:
F - He was bullied and stuck on a cave for years and just wanted to have friends again.
Q - He knew literally everything that'll happen in the future, which is already enough to probably scar someone. But he tried to warn everyone but he was too slow. And when he did, it was far too late.
Z - He is literally the entire planet. He saw every story, including this one. Imagine being immortal and not able to do anything.

I’d argue for the honorable mention of the tragic death of character P, they were trying to protect everyone and even was an emotional support to two characters, N and G. However, P was shot in the back by the ones they supported with both G and N forming a Gun after a case of mistaken identity from being mutilated from F.

Yeah and we could make 0 the villain who was ignored for being so useless but as the math becomes more complex 0 takes place in more and more details and 1 tries to bring him back, but 2 declines because 0 is a loser. 5 tries his best to gather everyone with his simple ways but 4 accuses 5 of making the math a whole lot harder and hateable which makes 6 sad. Eventually 1 and 2 get in an argument and want to be seperated from eachother, but 12, their mother, tells them how sad it would be and how history would change so much. 2 declares that 1 is useless and goes to fight 0 to death so 1 doesn't take hold of him and let him in the math world again.
Meanwhile, 2 walks in on 0 in a lab, making a number creature. The creatures were - and another number. 2 tries to warn 0 on how this would mess up the math world, but 0 insisted it was the future. 2 didn't become convinced, and 0 strangled 2. But 2 survived, and got out of his lair. Before 2 could explain the dangers of 0, she couldn't find 1. She rushed to tell 12, but 12 told 2 that 1 was at 0's house. 2 broke down, and visited 4 for reassurance. After all, they were cousins.
2 cried in 4's arms, as 4 explained how bad 5 was. 2 didn't like 4's words, after all, they were wrong. 5 was kind and loved all numbers. 2 tried her best to convince 4 that 5 was innocent, but 4 insisted. 4 had locked 5 out of his dorm long ago, because 4 couldn't afford to have their places changed. 2 asked where 5 was, and, 4 said he was with 0. 2 had to go to 0 now, but before 2 knew it, 2 was too weak. New numbers were being invented, and, inevitably, 2 became weaker and weaker, till it was the 1st weakest number. 2 cried on how this could happen, and goes to 0's lab after days of walking.
0 explains to 2 that he has created the future. 2 didn't believe him. They were just single digits numbers, and this could be done by the weakest number ever. 0 tells 2 that this is the future again.
"Don't deny it", he says. But 2 ultimately denies it, and destroys the lab, therefore cutting 0's experiments in half, creating fractions. 0 runs away and cries, wanting to be accepted, but 2 never let him. He'd change the world for the better if it weren't for that mere excuse of a number, however, 0 did not know 2's struggles on being weak. 2 wanted to be like 12, but 1 always told 2 they were useless beginners. 2 wanted to prove 1 wrong and change the math world, but 2 was indeed weak. Therefore, 2 would want to be stronger by destroying 0's lab.
1 and 5 hid in the lab, as they gossiped over how they've finally created their project, decimals. But 5 tells 1 that 2 has destroyed everything. 1 breaks down, knowing that if 2 had partnered with 0, they could easily create beautiful things. 2 finishes the destroying and makes a lair.
2 never wanted to be the villain. 2 just wanted to be the protagonist or the sidekick that gets a plushie and their own show. 2 walks through the hallway, crying over how she never wanted this.
Meanwhile, 1 hears 2's cries. 0 and 1 partner to create a new code, binary, and that 2 could participate in it and become that cute sidekick. 0 and 1 knock on the door and tell 2 about the beautiful project they've made. 2 denies and thinks that she won't be able to do it. 0 and 1 mistook this for being simply mean and selfish, so they left 2 alone.
2 wanted revenge, even though 2 knew it was useless. They hadn't done anything..or did they?
2 lies in bed thinking of how 0 and 1 mocked 2 for being such a weird number. It was so long ago, but 2 was hurt. 2 decided to kill 0, his decimals, fractions and binary. 2 would finally put an end to this saga and euthanise the math world once and for all.
2 rushes to 0's lab, knowing it would take days for a weak number to reach the small distance. Crying, 2 pulls out a knife to kill 0, but she hears an unfamiliar voice.
"X."
The multiplication had been invented. 2 stood no chance against this lord, and thus agreed to be the double of any number in the world. It would make 2 that cute sidekick, once and for all.
But what about 5?
4 held the knife to 5's heart, pinning him down, knowing it was wrong. 4 was jealous on how strong 5 was, although they were one apart.
4 shed a tear on how they've also become the antagonist. 4 wanted to be the cool protagonist. It's not fair. It isn't.
But in the last moments of 4's grief, 5 stood up, held the knife to 4's heart and pinned him down.
"Four..I loved you throughout all of my life, but we have come to an end."
5 stabbed 4 while sobbing. 4 was then associated with death.
7 opened the door to reveal something sinister.
One of his dearest friends were killed by 5. 7 thought 4's rumours were real. 5 didn't have enough time to explain and 7 went insane, he had went to the athletic jock to the insane, crazy person he is now in a span of a few seconds.
7 hyperventilated, wanting to cope by something, but couldn't. They put him in an asylum, and 5 warned others to not visit him. 6, 8, and 9 refused to believe 5 because they had grown up with 7. 9 was the first to visit 7, and, a freak accident happened. I think we all know what happened. 7 ate 9. Blood was smeared all over the cell, as 6 watched in horror and feat. 8 could not fathom that his younger brother did something so cruel, 8 tried calling 0, 1, and 2, but nobody would respond.
What happened to 3 and 10?
3 learnt that they were related to 1 and 2. 3 was happy because 1 and 2 were having a good time doing what they love today, unaware of 4's death. 10 and 12, 1 and 2's parents, accepted that 3 can stay with them, however, in a conversation, 3 learnt something.
3 learnt that 4 was dead, and sobbed. 10 took him out for ice-cream and helped him calm down.
What about 0?
0 stayed in his lab and made a mini bedroom. He was glad that he was finally accepted into society again, and was working on algebra and calculus that night.
- 4's Funeral -
At 4's funeral, 5 read the obituary and set up the funeral. He apologized to everyone but explained 4's horrible tendencies. In the end, everyone apologized to 5 and 7 was told the news through a small paper but he was too lost to read it.
4 was a symbol of death ever since his murder, especially in Asia. This is true information, however it is not due to him dying.
- 9's Funeral -
7 did not allow for 9 to have a funeral shortly after 9's funeral. 5 insisted and told 7 it won't be much but 8 told 5 that something terrible would happen. 5 declined and made the funeral.
8 and 6 did not attend because they didn't want to be reminded of their trauma. 12, 6's aunt stayed at 6's house to help him calm down. 10 had to take care of the house and therefore could also not attend the funeral. 0, 1, 2 and 3 were the only attendees.
- 0, 1, and 2's grief -
They were the last to know 9 and 4's deaths which took a big toll on them. 0 stopped making projects because he had to help 5 with the funerals. 2 grieved more than 1, because 2 had just started her new life. 1 also had to stop projects to help 2.
- Why did 5 help with the funerals? -
Because 5 killed 4 in self defense, he knew he would have to be responsible for the funeral if he wanted to be kind. 5 was also a bit responsible for 9's traumatizing death so he also had to take on the funeral. 9 and 4's parents neglected their children, which is also what caused these deaths in the first place and also why they would refuse the funeral.
- The negative numbers -
When 2 broke into the lab, the negative numbers broke. They were, however, reinvented after a few months.
- Numeral racism -
Numeral racism was when someone would discriminate against negative or decimal numbers. Luckily, it was only 7 who did this so it was stopped.
- 8's future -
8 was also kept in an asylum because of 9's death. 6 didn't meet the same fate as 8 because 12 helped 6 through his grief. 16 was sadly on a business trip for 6 months and couldn't be there for 8.
8 was an introverted and shy person, so he refused help.
- The End -
Edit: Also I wanted to add that 2's villain side was inspired by Rob from gumball (especially that one line about being a sidekick was entirely from gumball) and that 7 eating 9 was a reference to the joke. Now I'll add 2's villain arc in another reply because I'm lagging.
2's Villain Arc:
(2 was actually always a girl. Don't ask why because I don't know.)
2 walks through his lair with grief and disgust. This is not the way it should be.
"Gosh, these stupid numbers. They never understand me. They never understand how hard I've tried and how much I've wanted."
2 gets her cape and covers herself with it. 1 and 0 knock on the door but the door denies them and pushes them into the floor.
"They never understand..They never understand..THEY NEVER UNDERSTAND!"
2 floats in power as lightning strikes this world of misery.
"I'LL PUT AN END TO YOU!"
The voice can be heard, as 2 becomes 200,000, more powerful than ever before.
"0, 5. I don't think we can do this."
"1, I've surrendered. My inventions are no longer enough for 2. I miss the days were 2 wasn't like this. But, I must go."
0 walks away as 1 and 5 watch him fade from their battle.
Infront of the lair, 5 wants to put up a fight with 2, but 1 declines, knowing with one hit, they'll be already dead.
"Gosh, are you stupid? You're gonna die or become a minion."
"It's n-not fair how I'm underestimated."
5 runs away and 1 watches him in fear.
1 chases him, but he doesn't get a chance. 1 opens the door of his house and explains to 5's parents the true danger of the situation, but he can't find them. He has been talking to air.
1 tries to unlock 5's room, but he can't. It's been locked.
"Is anyone there?"
"5..I know but- I LOVE YOU!"
"I'm sorry 1, I can't feel the same way if it's my last moment."
"5! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU CAN'T EJECT YOURSELF!"
"I'm long gone."
1 starts hitting the door and crying on how much 5 meant to him. However, when 1 opened the door he knew 5 was dead. Long dead with no revival. Through these moments of pain 2 had already been prepared to destroy the world that brought her misery. The city's radios flood with the message that 2 will destroy the world. 1 runs out of 5's home and hears the message all over the city that once used to be his. He watches and hears people in misery as he runs up to his father and mother.
He hugs them and sobs.
2 walks out of the lair as 200,000.
"I will spare you all one message. By one person."
1 tries his best to be Infront of the crowd and say his last words to his sister, as his father, 10, pushes him to the front.
200,000 gives a microphone to 1.
"Dear sister, You have won. In a far universe you have not. You have helpt us in our last moments in that uni-"
1 is shot by 200,000 for reminding her that she once used to be weak.
She heads to the lair and the clouds turn black.
Everything goes black, and the math world is finally euthanised just like how 200,000 wanted it to be.
A flood of guilt fills her, but she ejects herself fast enough.

Not a franchise, but Greek mythology. A woman cursed to see the future, but also to never be believed. She saw terrible events fated to happen, but could only sit by and watch them unfold.

My favorite thing about this is how, not only do each of the gems represent a form a punctuation, but they also all have powers relating to that.

! allows P and F to move faster in short bursts, like how exclamation points single is to get loud, and so, in a sense, our words travel faster.

I just realized in the "n" part, they were lower cased letters while in the other episode, they were upper cased. This means that "F" got evil after being exiled. And that the real villains were "o" and 'l"
