@@metalyuncle3106 that was the point of watching the video, to see how it forms. And one of the biggest parts of that is how the wind travels in a circle, if they assumed everyone knew that, they probably wouldn't have posted that comment.
@@metalyuncle3106 the point of the video is to teach us how they form and it left out a huge piece. That was the first thought I had, "okay but why is the wind blowing in a spiral?" and this person thankfully answered that. Not sure why you'd take issue with it.
Haha yes, I'm glad someone else noticed too. I imagined her with a big grin on her face as she said that. It's so interesting how we can guess the expression of someone's face just by the intonation of their voice.
This is just such a informative, interesting, helpful and awesome first kids in school and i even used this in school once too! This video is ultimately awesome!
I have a question today, what's stopping us from building large artificial land masses in the ocean? Would this help prevent hurricanes and even aid the energy crisis by building windmills? We could have strategically placed artificial cities that block the development of hurricanes. With the increase of global warming, this makes sense to me despite the cost.
I’ll stick to my blizzards. I get to stay home, drink wine and hot chocolate, read and watch movies. It’s nicer than a hurricane even though it’s freezing for 5 months sometimes
I wanna know what causes a hurricane though, and this video leaves it at "Hurricanes form when wind goes in a circle." Mkay but *why* does the wind start going in a circle around a center? I mean, it's like saying that ice forms when water gets hard. It doesn't tell me why that happens.
This maybe an ignorant question, but we have the technology to predict and then warn when a hurricane will occur, but how come we aren't able to take preventative measures to lessen or even prevent them?
@@jamalwest7658 You tell me? My question is posed as we have some of the most technologically advanced systems and we can't figure out how to cool specific parts of the ocean even just a couple of degrees? Again, I don't know what's possible, but there surly has to be something, right? At some point in time cars, cellphones, computers weren't possible...until they were.
Not an ignorant question. I was going to say the same thing. We already know the science behind it. Why not create a counter weapon/measure for it? With the knowledge and technologic advances of today's world, creating such a thing should be easier than creating a cell phone.
Because it’s very hard to. It’s the same reason we can’t prevent thunderstorms or even just rain when it’s way too inconvenient for us. Because doing so would mean that we would need to know how to make the water cycle work in reverse, which just isn’t feasible with our current technology. We can certainly create more rain, as demonstrated with cloud seeding, but stopping rain is going to be more difficult since you would essentially need to stop the water cycle.
Sorry for the stupid question but how does the wind get it to turn into a spiral vs just blowing all the air the same direction? Are there winds blowing from opposite directions?
There are no stupid questions when it comes to science. Less you’re a conspiracy theorist lol. Anyways, the reason they spin has to due with the Earths rotation, hence why hurricanes spin in opposite directions based on whether you’re north or south of the equator. Up here they spin counterclockwise, and south they spin clockwise.
@TheCynicalCommentator okay thank you, that's starting to make a little more sense. But then, why do they spin in opposite dircetions based on north or south when the entirety of the earth is still spinning in the same direction? So wouldnt they as well?
@@jimlahey9158 the same reason why stars in the night sky spin in different directions. It’s due to a change in perspective. If you look at it from the top, you’ll see it spin one direction, look at it from the bottom, you’ll see it spin the other. Edit: I just kinda realized that doesn’t explain really why the hurricanes spin differently. It’s due to the Coriolis effect, which is also due to the Earth spinning.
well if the tilt wasnt present the warm winds wont have been blown towards the atlantic instead if the earth was not tilted we would have unified current blowing one way, the disorganized wind currents is caused by winter and summer in opposite hemispheres however we do have equatorial regions to mitigate this but it always seeps through so if you want much calmer weather fix Earths tilt and slow it by 12 hours, this is for future people who posses planet cracking technology that can eventually shift planets into orbit, so yes thats correct we can eventually develop tech that can move planets into specific location

@TheCynicalCommentator got you, I just looked up the coriolis effect and that helped me understand it. Thank you
why do the condensing clouds start moving in a spiral pattern?
The same thing I’ve been thinking 🤦🏾♀️
its because of the corriolis affect. the spin of the earth on a slight tilt means that winds don't blow in a straight line and they naturally curve
Is the spiraling wind a result of a low pressure system that flows inwards and upwards??
No it’s the result of the Coriolis effect
well if the tilt wasnt present the warm winds wont have been blown towards the atlantic instead if the earth was not tilted we would have unified current blowing one way, the disorganized wind currents is caused by winter and summer in opposite hemispheres however we do have equatorial regions to mitigate this but it always seeps through so if you want much calmer weather fix Earths tilt and slow it by 12 hours, this is for future people who posses planet cracking technology that can eventually shift planets into orbit, so yes thats correct we can eventually develop tech that can move planets into specific location

Um, I already knew how cumulonimbus clouds form, thank you. Why do "the winds begin blowing in a circular pattern around a center", and how do they "reach 74 mph"? What a non-explanation.

2. The pressure moves into the low pressure, which is in the center with creates wind speeds that are strong.
