The 231hp active tourer engine is not the same the pistons are stronger😉. Don't forget that the compression ratio is not the same 11:1 for the b48b20a and 10,2:1 for the b48b20b 😊. The max stock power of the b48b20a is 218hp and 320nm. So for me the safe upgrade of this engine is between 235hp and 240hp.
Looking forward to the progress! I love these cars and hope to add another to our family. Wifey currently in a 2015 Cooper S Countryman. Wishing it had the BMW engine... saving that purchase for myself! Wishing I was not stateside so I could visit your shop.

Hi I have a 2017 Cooper S f56 3 door sport auto, with JCW tuning kit and DINAN sport tune on it with a K&N intake... i am really interested in your tune! however my concern is that I lease my car and am still under warranty so im attempting to avoid voiding it. is it east to switch back and fourth from stock ECU flash back to the TUNED ECU flash?
Hi gents, have a couple of questions as i'm considering a map job on my stock Mini Coop S late 2018 model 3dr: 1. Is this a map that can be done without it needing any other bits doing on the car, like exhaust, intake etc? 2. Is it possible to tune to a particular standard rather than 291bhp and 380 on the torque? I am thinking of tuning up to JCW performance only really to stay on the safer side with respect to engine and drive train and lutch longevity. 3. Is it necessary to then run only on particular fuel, a couple of other teams that do maps have indicated use of only 99 octane which could be a problem as i regularly drive in the Alps where choice of unleaded can be limited. 4. I have read a few stories of BMW cars with the same petrol engine and minis having to have the engine replaced after mapping stage 1 like this as components failed. Is this common, or am i only finding the few examples among the many? cheers, and great work on the professional channel!!
Wow. Just wow. Great work! I have the exact same car .. '15 Cooper S ... I live in the States, how on earth can I do this to my F56. Would LOVE for you guys to do it.
Great video very informative. I have a 2015 jcw auto Would it make similar power? And what would be your charge for the remap and does that include any tuning for the auto box?
What does the map do for the 0-60 and 0-100 times. Also what about the mpg. Ive just bought a 2016 clubman s and im thinking of using your map. Will it also void any manufacturer warrenty. Thanks Carl.
Hello! Yes some of the components are different but the 2.0 engine in the normal Cooper S is still very detuned as it puts at the same power as the old 1.6 Turbo.
Hello guys from Evolve. Nice to see your work and dedication to these cars. I'm actually an owner of a Mini F56 Cooper S from Portugal and I was very interested on your job on this car. I've already checked your website and I've noticed that the Stage 1 program is only to be installed in your facilities (as obvious). Still, I would like to know if someone from foreign, me in this case from Portugal, could buy this and install on my car. Thanks and keep your good work!!
Iv got a 2018 F55 Cooper S auto and I think the gear box (in mid) is awful to be honest. The car is in 7th gear at 40 miles an hour, so as soon as you need to accelerate the car is left scratching its head whilst it drops a few gears from 7th. Wish I had gone for the manual after watching this!
Just took delivery of my f56 s and im v interested in your stage 1 map although technically Im not supposed too tune the car!if my car is going in for a service and i remove the map before hand , will they know i had it remapped? That's the only thing stopping me. Cheers j
Looking at getting one in July. And it's awesome to see you guys are local to me being at Luton. Will you do the remap or will I have to go the software on my own ?
Hey Imran, the gains are impressive. I'll be coming in for stage one on a manual JCW as soon as you're back open. How long does the process including dyno runs take start to finish?
I've just installed a JCW tuning kit (Pro Exhaust and chip) on my 2014 F56 automatic. Can you like bypass the current Chip they added on and get to 280-290~ BHP?
How does this chip work with warranty and servicing. Does it show up to them that you have modded the car. And if so would removing it make it untraceable?
It's not a chip it's a remap applied to ECU. You can reflash the ECU to stock before taking it to a dealer for warranty work but if they want to find it they can. There is no tuning method that is completely untraceable.
Evolve Automotive Thanks for the reply, just another thing I'm getting another f56 towards end of the year. How much do you charge for just a dyno, I hear a lot how bmw lie about there stock bhp and would love to see what mine will be. I may not want an upgrade if it's pushing 220 at stock. Many thanks again.
Will this be available stateside? I am looking to buy a new F56 soon and would LOVE this tune! Its amazing numbers for just an ECU remap. Great video, love this format!
Here's a question: Does the Mini log the key cycles with this tune on? The reason I asked is that Subaru WRXs, for example, log their key cycles, (each time the car turns on and off). When they are tuned, the key cycle resets, and when they are detuned, the key cycle resets. So if one was to go in for a warranty item on their vehicle, they'd reset their car to the stock tune, but would end up still getting refused service due to the fact that the technician can see that the vehicle has 65,000kms, and has been logged in the key-cycles to have ran 3 times. Does Mini do such a thing? Very well put together video! I'm very impressed at the quality of the content, had to give this underrated channel a sub.
Key cycles is not something I’ve heard of being checked. However BMW/Mini can always find out if a car has been tuned if they want to look deep enough. Tuning box or ECU tune, there is too many logs of engine parameters to not show it has been tuned at some point.
Also, any suggestions to improve the awful manual shifter? I dont want to switch to an auto, but this has to be one of the most rubbery/vague shifters I've used. Would a weighted shift knob and short shift kit help?
Great video. Thanks for sharing! Very happy to see another company working on an F56 project. I'll follow the journey for sure. Possible to get your tune on my F56 over here in the states?
Thanks Kevin! How did you come across the video? Yes we will be setting up an agent in the US where you can send your ECU for OBD unlocking and can then use our OBD cable to tune.
