Here where I retired in TinyTown, central Midwest, I briefly met someone with a noticeable overseas accent from where I had no idea. But he was doing me a favor and I asked him what brought him to this blip on the road, from where? Big smile so he'd know I meant well. When he said South Africa, my jaw almost dropped. It was such a treat to be reminded that there's still a big wide world out there .... I used to be part of it. Anyway, glad you're enjoying JD's stories with us. He's a natiional treasure.
@@frostyfrances4700 oh wow. Thats amazing. South Africa has such a vivid history we have our own stories to tell. Sadly many are leaving due to violence and politics. But thank you for telling me. Its an indeed small world.
@TheAppalachianStoryteller I believe your right on point. Nothing good has ever come from Alcohol unless your making it or selling it. You've never heard of anyone saying hold my peace pipe n watch this. Not going to lie that devil in a jug had me for a long time. No Alcohol here for 10 years now. Thanks for sharing. I live in Wilkes County by the Parkway. Lots of beautiful old chimneys standing still.
Oh JD! What a great story! The devil is a liar & the father of all lies!!! I’ve never ever heard anyone tell a story like you!! You are blessed with a wonderful ability to tell stories like no other!! Blessings always JD! ❤️✝️😊
That’s a good one! Nobody in their right mind would ever want to make a deal with the devil. It always ends bad! 😂😂 Thanks JD. This one put a smile on my face on this dreary rainy day😂. More please 😂😂😂
That was an awesome story 👍 As soon as you said he left the jug with the woman I thought " NO! Go back and take the jug" lol I knew immediately they were going to end back up with nothing 🤷and hubby was just trying to get ahead, wifey was just plain greedy 👿
We need more storytelling like this, JD. Hand to God, once way back b4 I retired to TinyTown where all 4 churches are hardly testaments to the gospel, I was heading across a courtyard real early b4 6 a.m. Mass; life was awfully hard right then, and I hurried for my little spot of refuge where nobody else in the congregation could even see me. Ahd I tell you true, that was the one time in my life I heard slewfoot loud and clear. "HAVEN'T YOU ALREADY PRAYED ENOUGH FOR ONE DAY?" You never saw anyone run for their pew so fast in your life! I was like lightning that day. Told my friend the priest about it later, and he thought it was the funniest thing he ever heard. But later when the church nursery was being redecorated and somebody had taken down an antique painting I loved of Madonna and Child, Fr. Bill said they were liable to throw it out so instead he declared me and my relatives in perpetuity the caretakers of said painting - since he'd get in trouble for just giving it away - and then he covered it up and took it out to my car for me with a zip-your-lip gesture. According to him, if anyone from the church ever misses it I might have to return it. But that was almost 40 years ago and I don't think they'll ever find me now since I've moved 3 times.
Now this wouldn't have happened in Georgia. Cuz when the devil went down to Georgia he ran into a guy named Johnny.... and you know the rest. Thank you JD!
Don't ever mess with the devil, the man should've let that jug keep on going down the creek. Great story JD. I absolutely love all your stories, and your voice is addictive Your the best story teller ever.❤
Love your story's! Both sides of my family come from Tennessee. Pretty sure to the Civil War and beyond! I can only imagine some of these stories could be about my own ancestors! Good going my friend!
Lord have mercy what a story JD!! Reminds me of a lesson that was learned in the first book of Genesis.... it'll cost you every time! Just ask mrs EVE... she'll tell you... loved it brother!!!...
Another great video of days gone by but as long as you J.D keep doing the amazing work of telling our families stories our families will forever be remember and how you can survive most anything with faith and God !!!
This is a great story. The devil is the king liar. When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. He should have never left that jug alone with his wife. The devil lied to her; but, it was only after he tempted her (with what looked like real money and gold) that she took out that cork. It took two women to put the devil in that jug, and only one to let him out. Now the devil is out, what will he do to the two women who put him in that jug (if they are still living)? Great story. We can't always believe what we see and hear.
Great story. It reminds me of a big book of American Myths and Legends that I had as a kid. It was my favorite book. And...Next...the devil went down to Georgia looking for a soul to steal.😂
Another true story from Appalachia. Well, maybe not ENTIRELY true. But it's a fact that you can make a deal with the devil, and sadly too many people today have done just that. This was a fun one JD.
I have to get me head into a certain creative space to see the world thru Mollys eyes in order to write her story. I haven't been able to finish her story, even after two writing sessions this week. Lots of folks have asked me to finish it, and I will and I will re-release the entire story as one video. Stay tuned@@schambers8301
What on earth is it with Morgan County?? it seems like the oddest things always happen there and they get hit by tornadoes a lot. Lol. Reckon that jug's still around down there?

This story is so biblical, and it's the very struggle into which most, if not all, place themselves!
