That final image was mind blowing, and what an idyllic location to shoot from. Shame about having to work the next day, I feel your pain. Shadow living the best life as always.
Thanks ever so much, John! I sure enjoy your channel and videos filmed amongst the lush green countryside of the UK. So very beautiful. I’ve worked some on my genealogy and I am 3/4 British, stemming from Yorkshire. My last name, Snarr, stems from the Daines that settled that area. The other 1/4 of me is Swedish. So if I go back far enough, I’m pretty much Viking. Lol. In any event, I’m 3/4 English and it’s fun to watch your videos and see the beautiful land from which my family originates. Thanks for making that possible. Take care!
Where I live is a very flat area of Britain so too see your beautiful mountains and deserts which we we don't have unless you go to Wales or Scotland for the mountains, it's lovely to see your videos showing such areas.
Thank you, Bill, for the kind comment. It is true that the Southwest United States is breathtaking. I live within 45 minutes of Zions National Park. People come from all over the world to see Zions National Park and the surrounding areas. Having said that, I have been fortunate to have travelled to the UK many times over the years and I just love the beautiful green countryside. And, of course, the history of the land and people. It brings to mind the poem from Rudyard Kipling, with its beautiful last verse: God gives all men all earth to love, But since man’s heart is small, Ordains for each one spot shall prove Beloved over all. Each to his choice, and I rejoice The lot has fallen to me In a fair ground-in a fair ground- Yea, Sussex by the sea!
That's an awesome tip. It's so beautiful and that's an amazing adventure. I've been in many of these areas, so It's great fun to see someone else's experiences
I❤the meadow where you camped. Had fun watching Shadow do his thing. The photos you captured were amazing. I’m still looking into my first telescope. Currently we are on vacation in Kep, Cambodia. The skies here very clear and I thought of your channel.Take care and you two be safe.
Thanks for thinking of us all the way from Cambodia! That is very interesting that the skies are so clear there. Is there much light pollution? Take care and safe travels!
How beautiful! My favorite has always been the Pillars of creation! Eagles nebula is spectacular! Can't believe you got such good pictures of it. You need to blow those up in a big frame & put them on your wall.👍🙂
A great image you took there, 11,000 feet, here on the south coast of England, I'm at sea level, tried to get M16, and by the time I had focused, it was into my garage 😅, so I love seeing what other people have done, great video and hope you made it to work on time.
Thanks so much Bill. I am always amazed at how many excellent astrophotographers are from the UK and how much they have contributed to the field. Dr. Robin Glover, the developer of SharpCap, is a good example. I am guessing that per capita, the UK has the most astrophotographer enthusiasts of any country on earth. And given the Northern latitude and often overcast skies, it makes it even more remarkable. Of course those overcast skies also make the country green and beautiful! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Cheers!
@@adventuresofshadowdog I will. I'm going to be in Wisconsin the end of September so instead of heading back East I want to head West. I have family in NM and AZ so hopefully I can catch some skies like you can get. Your channel is a favorite of mine and always look forward to every video.
Hahaha..... HD and a telescope. One of the first things I made when I just bought my telescope were those plates. Now I don't need them any more, but back in the Netherlands I used them everytime. Thanks for the video! Saludos from Spain, Rob.
Hi Rob! If I recall, you have a pier now? That must be a lot more stable and convenient than a tripod on dirt! Always good to hear from you, my friend. And Shadow sends his love!
@@adventuresofshadowdog Yes, I have a pier now. Way more easy than with I tripod, but always at the same spot. And going out to a place has it's thing too.
Hey Lance, very interesting video and stellar pictures (pun intended). I'm guessing you were camping up near Brian Head. I like your comments on life occurring elsewhere. One of the other things you hit on briefly. One of the things that intrigues me about stargazing, is that when we look up into the sky we are really looking at things that are in the past. The possible Betelgeuse supernova has been in the news a lot recently. For all we know, it may have happened 600 years ago. To me, that is incredible, but when you speak of looking at something as far away as our new technology is capable of, it's mind blowing. Give Shadow a pat for me.
Thanks so much for the comment. I just gave Shadow a pat for you and his tail is wagging! Yes, I was just outside Cedar Breaks National Monument on the Southside on National Forest Land. Lots of allowed dispersed camping in that area. It was a wonderful reprieve from the heat of St. George. I often think of what you commented on regarding what we are seeing is light that has traveled hundreds, thousands, millions and even hundreds of millions of years ago. It's mind boggling to think about. Truly too BIG for my puny mind. lol. Cheers and Clear Skies!
Good video taking us along to the top of a mountain for astrophotography. I would have liked a description of your equipment (rig). I'm guessing a small reflector?
Thanks Mike! Check out the description under the video to see the list of equipment. I list it all there. But to answer your question here: the Telescope is a 190mm aperture 1000mm focal length Maksutov-Newtonian. A rather large reflector. Camera is a CMOS Color full frame made by Orion, but Orion is gone now. It’s the same camera as the ZWO ASI2400MC Pro. Rather large pixels than need to be paired with a long focal length to avoid under saturation. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Oh gorgeous image Lance!! M16 is such a great target. Your processing work is excellent too, really well done!! Was that just subs from the night or combined with your previous session(s)? Cheers! Doug
It's possible that there may not be any other life, buddy ! You know the Fermi paradox...he said, "Where are they ?" They've already had billions of years to show up!
Love your videos. I recently captures PoC- I have just done a short on my YT where I compare with the 1996 NASA photo :-0 if you'd like to look...I was thinking of doing a full processing video as I find the stars on this target very tricky.
I just checked out your channel and the Pillars of Creation comparison. Wow! Wow Wow Wow!!!! I subscribed and plan on pouring through your channel. Excellent work you do. Thanks for bringing your cannel to my attention. Cheers!
What a great idea on your tripod. I'll have to do that with my outdoor easel. Watching your videos opens my mind to question "why" are we here? Our existence brings deep meaning to the purpose of why we were created. Then I wonder why mankind looks to the night sky for UFO and Aliens instead of appreciating the insane beauty. Like some minds can't open up to what they see so they look for Ufo's
Hi Jan! Your comment incorporates some profound and deep questions that, in my mind, speak to the meaning of life. There is nothing like pondering these things under a dark, clear night sky with the Milky Way overhead and an occasional meteorite streaking by. There is a magical wonder to it all. Thanks so much for leaving such a beautiful comment.
hello! I watch most of your videos, they are very cute! I congratulate you on your work, do you upload them to Instagram? Greetings Carlos from Argentina
Hello Carlos! I am so glad you asked that question because it’s something I really need to do. In fact, I’ll try to get an instagram account up and running this weekend. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I would love to visit Argentina someday and photograph the visible part of the Galaxy from the Southern Hemisphere. And to see Argentina!
