I don't own a 3D printing machine or know how to use any 3D program but I've subscribe to this channel because of the personality and awesome content. Imho you're the best 3D printing channel on youtube. Stay awesome Devon!
I've made some 3D models for iPhone 5s and 7 cases and for that I exactly recreated the phones in cad based on the official Apple Accessory Design files. That was a ton of work lol. I don't have a 3D printer so I don't know how well the cases would fit
I think most phone manufacterers don't do that. I had a OnePlus One and that was pretty hard to design a case for. They did have a perfectly accurate 3D model and even did a 3D Printing contest :)
Yeah, that'd be great. I love my OtterBox, but even tho it's one of the lighter models, I'd love for it to be a little bit thinner, have more ventilation for when I'm charging, and just be able to customize it to look cute and personal
I use wood turning pen kits and 3d print the barrels for them, they turn out looking pretty good. Might be something youd be interested in experimenting with
Dude, theses are awesome! I think my favorite is the green one that was the first "perfect fit" case. I'm definitely impressed with the modeling of the complex shape, you explained it really concisely. Well done.
I use a cardboard from a cereal box and packing tape to make cell phone sleeves. It keeps the screen from getting scratched when in my pocket. So easy. Yes I could draw and print one with my Prusa Mark3i but I like keeping it simple.
I designed a a phone case in tinkercad for my cr-10 printer! Thanks for reviewing the cr-10 so I could see how good it is for the price! And it is awesome!
I know this is an old video, but is there anywhere I could see a drop test of this thing? I drop my phone a lot and want to know if it's worth it to print a case in PLA.
Hi ,DEVIN I know you are not going to answer this but I really want to make a phone case but I’m a beginner so what did you do at 5:52 pleas tell me so I can see a tutorial! Thank you
Seeing this made me wonder, is there a way to make a 2-shelled case to make it a little more protective? Maybe a flexy outer shell with a hard inner shell or vice versa?
How did you get that really glossy finish on a few of the prototypes? None of my prints have ever had a finish that nice. I thought maybe you did some post-processing, but it didn't appear so.
Can't see any print lines. Is that just because it's a higher end printer, or did you do anything special to the cases? Only just got the anycubic kossel you reviewed, and would love to know how it compares to higher end printers. I love it.
pla is actually VERY good choice as it shatter on impact. with more durable materials you would transfer more energy to phone but with pla because it will shatter it will absorb lots of energy with that.
Do you think you could make a jelly-like phone case? Sort of like the Goospery cases by Mercury. I have a Pixel phone and while I absolutely love it, there are so few options for phone cases, and unless you dig really really deep, the only cases you can find are solid colour. I'd love to one day make a customised one.
would you please tell me what is your final clearance between your phone and case? how much thick of walls are they have diffrent thickness with sides and bottom?
I have a phone case I like but would like to make my own color pattern like this. What is the best way to reverse engineer the case to do what you have done here?
Cool! I tried this, but my phone's top/bottom (where the plug is) is rounded right to the center, no flat part. When I loft the flat part to a sketch in the middle, and add a guide rail, Fusion crashes. :(
thanks for sharing your process, I learned a couple things there. I designed my cases for the Google Pixel XL in a different way. Would you be willing to test a few different flexible filaments for phone cases? I made one for the iphone 7 plus from sainsmart tpu and it's ok but I think I can do better. There's just so many variables... how elastic is the filament(no one seems to list this info), how much infill and what pattern to use for better drop protection, and other design/printing techniques that will help produce a better phone case to protect your phone.
What if you wanted a phone case that also has a sliding tray to hold a few bank/ID cards? Too complicated, I guess. I think there might be some on 3D printing design sharing platforms.
That was a ton of work. Thanks for showing the steps and design process. It's helpful to learn from someone else's workflow. Beautiful results!
that contour gage scared me! i though he just chopped right into it lol
Same here at first
Same. I was so confused
Saaaaame. I was like ‘WTF! YOU JUST CUT YOUR PHONE IN HALF!’
so this is why the human race is failing... huh
Same dude
I don't own a 3D printing machine or know how to use any 3D program but I've subscribe to this channel because of the personality and awesome content. Imho you're the best 3D printing channel on youtube. Stay awesome Devon!
I would definitely use a case if it was made like this. It's fun to watch them being made.
Can you make a longer version going through all of the prototypes? I know I’d watch it.
My god Devin I love this channel so so much
I've made some 3D models for iPhone 5s and 7 cases and for that I exactly recreated the phones in cad based on the official Apple Accessory Design files. That was a ton of work lol. I don't have a 3D printer so I don't know how well the cases would fit
It's cool that Apple provides that.. I didn't even check for official guidelines from OnePlus :P
I think most phone manufacterers don't do that. I had a OnePlus One and that was pretty hard to design a case for. They did have a perfectly accurate 3D model and even did a 3D Printing contest :)
Could you release the designs on thinyverse or another 3d design website
I am writing on an iPhone 📱 5s
That really needs a case
MatthiasChristiaens i just tried to find the official apple cad files but couldn't... if possible do u think u could link them to me?
MatthiasChristiaens I
You should make a video explaining/reviewing/demo-ing the Pallet Plus machine!
+Colb Uhlemann eventually!
cough when cough
Now make a flexible phone case!
Print the same case but in flexible filament...
Guillaume Romagny I agree wouldn't hold on to the phone well unless you do daul extrusion hard inside shell with squishy outside
Yeah, that'd be great. I love my OtterBox, but even tho it's one of the lighter models, I'd love for it to be a little bit thinner, have more ventilation for when I'm charging, and just be able to customize it to look cute and personal
Maybe a Multi Filament Print with solid and Flexible Filaments?
MatthiasChristiaens hi
My iPad keeps lagging
This UA-cam deserves MANY more subscribers
My favorite was probably either the one with the support material or the one with the acrylic paint. Awesome work!
One of the best page for 3d printing tutorials
I use wood turning pen kits and 3d print the barrels for them, they turn out looking pretty good. Might be something youd be interested in experimenting with
I personally like the one were you made your own make anything logo one, to me that was the best one :)
3:07 I thought he sliced the phone in half!
Lol same I was beginning to think it was really realistic cake
hell yeah radiohead phone case
Dude, theses are awesome! I think my favorite is the green one that was the first "perfect fit" case. I'm definitely impressed with the modeling of the complex shape, you explained it really concisely. Well done.
Super cool! Some complex design problem solving there..Thanks for showing how it's done man ✅
2:00 *Apple* listened your _request_ 😂😂
Oh yea, totally because of my video 😜
I use a cardboard from a cereal box and packing tape to make cell phone sleeves. It keeps the screen from getting scratched when in my pocket. So easy. Yes I could draw and print one with my Prusa Mark3i but I like keeping it simple.
Dammit you really make me want to get a 3d printer...
a total brain AND he likes Radiohead??? I'm in love.
*sigh* I think we all are :/
Yeah everything about him is great except the moustache. Just. No.
Me too 😍😍
@@mkate3lgee401 whaaat, the moustache looks okay
Can you show how to swap filament
Like so he can see
You just stop the print, remove the filament, insert the new one and resume.
it's incredibly simple. all you have to do is press pause, take out the old filament, and push a new color through.
Prusa squad with colorprint. The printer literally beeps and stops itself.
I designed a a phone case in tinkercad for my cr-10 printer! Thanks for reviewing the cr-10 so I could see how good it is for the price! And it is awesome!
A small flex Sheet between the Case and the Phone would make it perfect. ;)
I liked the green design with the planet on the back. Sweet!
Make a mini roller coaster that actually works
Great idea, but it would probably take a lot of work and time
i don’t know what you’re doing half of this video but it looks cool so well done
I know this is an old video, but is there anywhere I could see a drop test of this thing? I drop my phone a lot and want to know if it's worth it to print a case in PLA.
A direct corner hit will usually chip PLA. The way I see it, the case is sacrificing itself for the phone 😅
@@make.anything so it should hold up for a few drops?
Thank you for using OnePlus
I am grateful to you
16:03 what the hell i was about to offer to buy one, i can get the deisgns for free!?
Is it possible to get from you any kind of module? I would like to try to print phone case.
is it safe if eat the filament?
I’ve been seeing people print some unique Rubiks cubes, I’d love to see a video about the weird shapes you can create!
Maybe a flexy outer shell with a hard inner shell or vice versa?
should be doable. Incipio and other companies have made cases like that. Probably takes many more iterations to get the right fit of 2 cases.
I've got a few bux to put on a custom S9 Plus case if you decide to make cases for that phone.
you should use flexible filament
you should sell the phone cases themselves so people with no 3d printer can still obtain those amazing cases of yours!!!
This was *exactly* what I needed, thank you so much!
Bruuv, make a full video. I care about it man. I love the work you did with this one. We will be doing the LG V30 and Note 8 soon.
Make sure you Should be to make with flexible filament
this looks like an iphone and an android had a baby
Pretty much :P That's why I like it
Make Anything // 3D Printing Channel your so awesome and the way u just have so much imagination
Androids a operating system, not a phone!?!?!? /S
Their first phones had own designs. Now they copy apple :/ It's sad to see that
android is a operating system but yes i agree
Hey devin, do you use add ons in fusion? If so, which ones?
Can you please make a 3D printed rubiks Cube. Please . Its a lot easier , than it looks
Hamish STEPHENS I mean solving Not printing. otherwise i agree with you. But his channel is called make anything
And of course i seen these things. I have "tons" of cubes at home. And sorry if i didn't write corectly . Im from Slovakia ;D
I think you'll have an easier time catching Devin's attention if you say that it's harder than it looks.
Hamish STEPHENS I’ve actually 3D printed a custom cube and put the pieces on an already existing core, and it worked very well
That would be super cool but a tone of work. Plus to make it turn even okay you would have to lube it like a ton
at the time of making this video, what icon pack were you using as it looks quite cool- 0:46
+Nathan Green it's called Min
Make Anything // 3D Printing Channel okay thanks
love the case with the pattern great work
I actually wouldn't mind a video of every iteration
How did you get that really glossy finish on a few of the prototypes? None of my prints have ever had a finish that nice. I thought maybe you did some post-processing, but it didn't appear so.
+John Clark printing on glass
Make Anything // 3D Printing Channel Ah, I never knew you could get that effect with glass, never seen anyone mention it before. Might have to try it.
These are amazing phone cases, will you sell phone cases from make anything (maybe for iphone 7)
You can download the file for the OnePlus 5 and print it. www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-printed-phone-case-for-oneplus-5-44933
What were your print settings the bottom layers looked amazing while mine look like crap and what can I do to fix that?
Can't see any print lines. Is that just because it's a higher end printer, or did you do anything special to the cases? Only just got the anycubic kossel you reviewed, and would love to know how it compares to higher end printers. I love it.
+HadiPlays there are still print lines, but the cr10 does a pretty good job hiding them. I think a well tuned kossel could get similar results though!
pla is actually VERY good choice as it shatter on impact. with more durable materials you would transfer more energy to phone but with pla because it will shatter it will absorb lots of energy with that.
Why you created the outlines in ilustrator? you have canvases tools to do that in Fusion?
How many feet of filament would you say a phone case would take
Do you think you could make a jelly-like phone case? Sort of like the Goospery cases by Mercury. I have a Pixel phone and while I absolutely love it, there are so few options for phone cases, and unless you dig really really deep, the only cases you can find are solid colour. I'd love to one day make a customised one.
Initially, what tool you are using to measure the dimension?
RADIOHEAD!! 💜
would you please tell me what is your final clearance between your phone and case?
how much thick of walls
are they have diffrent thickness with sides and bottom?
I have a phone case I like but would like to make my own color pattern like this. What is the best way to reverse engineer the case to do what you have done here?
What printer is this? And where can I buy that machine that allows it to print 4 different colours? Thanks
As always I love your attention to detail!
Can you please make a review on Ender 2 if it's possible?
Cool! I tried this, but my phone's top/bottom (where the plug is) is rounded right to the center, no flat part. When I loft the flat part to a sketch in the middle, and add a guide rail, Fusion crashes. :(
Can you make a simple case that cover all the sides of the Huawei P20 lite? there are a few models but they don't cover all the phone sides
You should try to do a pop socket with the make anything logo!!
You should use the da Vinci 2.0 to print out a phone case. I think that would make a really cute one with the transitioning colors.
thanks for sharing your process, I learned a couple things there.
Would I be able to do this with silicone?
I’d love to see you make a Rubiks cube, or if you’re worried about its name for copyright, a “twisty puzzle”
I mostly clicked cause of that awesome tool to get the contour of the phone!!! awesome!!!!
Can you put a softball on the pegboard
What are the odds! I literally have the same phone and I wanted to make a case for it when I get a 3D printer for Christmas.
And the oneplus 5 is actually an amazing phone,he's not saying that just because they gave it to them.
Oh gosh i have a one plus 2! I've never seen anyone else using this brand !
Same :D I started with The OneplusOne and now i have the 3t.
lol, in india and many other countries oneplus sells better than iphones
What if you wanted a phone case that also has a sliding tray to hold a few bank/ID cards? Too complicated, I guess. I think there might be some on 3D printing design sharing platforms.
+Sean Smith it's possible I just wanted to keep it as slim and simple as possible
I always wanted to design case for my phone. Thnx buddy for ur guidance
When you proto-type do you put your printer into fast print? Just wondering how to create a workflow for this
Did you make by Sla or fdm printer?
whats a better material to use?
How did you design the circle on the green case and print only the lines?
What filament did you use?
What type of film did you use
Can you make a phone case for the IPhone XR?
What about the iPhone 5, 5s or SE?
How did you make that nice finish on that blue one ? :D
+Tomáš Vavrečka glass build plate!
Thank you !
how long did it take to print out one case?
Q: is posible to print it with a door for the camera like nokia N73 N79 have it?
How much is the 3d printer he's using??
awesome! thank you for walking through your whole process.
What material did you use ?
This is a seriously good design workflow tutorial. Thank you!
What material did he print with?
I like that desing omg
what are the printers used in the video ?
How did you import your images into Fusion? I'm hoping to do the same thing but in SolidWorks?
Finally!! I've requested this so many times :)
that's a lot of effort! wish it was premade or an iphone x so I couldmake my custo case :3
What is machine called that turns fulminant into multicolored filament
Palette+ by Mosaic
Wow!! Maybe I can try this...
