@@alexiswiftrock Some characters were made to be fun/competitive only in "4 players fighting in melee" situations. You rarely see them in 1-v-1 competition. They have exploitable weaknesses whereas alternative characters have all of their strengths with none of their flaws. Lucario is fast but he's also light and doesn't "pack a punch" until he's easily k.o.'able himself.
On paper it sounds really really bad, but I think that in practice it's closer than it looks. The same goes for Terry. I still wouldn't say it's even, but a good Lucario can catch someone off guard for sure.
I think it’s actually even or winning for Lucario. I main both of them and it definitely feels Lucario favored Unless we’re talking about Riddles’ Kazuya. Then it’s losing. No one has the spacing and fundies with Kazuya besides Riddles who knows when to go for hits and spacing instead of mashing. Lucario feeds off of a Kazuya’s stubbiness and players just throwing out moves, but Riddles doesn’t do that and knows how to move and deal with his stubbiness. Edit: Kazuya’s general combo routes don’t work on Lucario. Nair > crouch jab into EWGF doesn’t work because of Lucario’s crouch animation. His air mobility and floatiness makes it harder to combo him too, so most of the time you’re just doing 80% on him and giving him aura. So he can just zoom around with Aura Sphere movement and Kazuya can’t deal with that at all. His crouch, f tilt, d tilt, bair, and up smash also pancake through most of Kazuya’s moves including EWGF. Up smash is really good too if you know a Kazuya is going to side b at ledge because Lucario DUCKS UNDER the side b, leading to a free kill with the up smash if he has aura.

Lucario sucks, we all know it, all matchups are losing matchups vs him, but TEA wasn't ready for the ultimate impossible to predict option, raw forward smash, he even DI out all the way on his second stock to ensure he'd die at 64%
I hope we can see this match up of Kazuya vs. Lucario in Tekken 8 if they were to make Lucario a DLC fighter. A Deathbattle between the two would also be great.

It's cause they don't underatand the character and believe whatever dumb take a "pro" player says. While aura is a big deal with lucario in the game, without it he is just as great and it does not change the advantage or lead whatsoever with the players

The current meta may have been different and we may not have had a Steve or a kazuya problem but I guess that was stripped away due to ignorance unfortunately.
Just because a character wins doesn't mean the take is wrong. A Ganon has beaten arguably the best Fox player in tournament before, but that doesn't change the fact that he's one of the worst competitive choices you can make in Ultimate. Same thing applies here which is why it's fun to watch and root for Gachipi.
Lucario is a bad character though, which is fine! Lots of low tiers have gotten wins before. Doc is trash, and yet he got top 3 at a Japanese major. Wins don’t mean everything! You don’t see me saying doc is a good character because of that result. Nor will you find me saying Ganon is a good character because he’s gotten big wins on players too!
I'd imagine that kazuya being able to kill Lucario early before Lucario gets to use his aura+rage to his advantage is a huge boon, and something that Pacman does not have. You saw in this match how much mileage Gachipi got when he had lots of aura+rage and didn't immediately die. Probably would happen a lot more vs Pacman.
@@titaniumcommandrig Pac-Man's kill power is like the one thing he doesn't particularly do in an impressive way. He basically relies on yolo smash attacks, and Bell F-smash which get less reliable vs someone with Lucario's movement, and shockingly safe shield pressure.
