Hongjoong literally reminds me why he's my bias every mv. He didn't even have a rap verse this time, but in every chorus he just has so much stage presence and charisma. That's why he's been my bias since Pirate King (one of their 2 debut songs) not only was his verse EXCELLENT but he just has so much presence and character when its his part. 😭❤
This comeback is crazy ! Yes there is lore in this MV, I'm not an expert but from what I've heard, Ateez lore is insane and worthy of Marvel trilogy. I know there are two versions of Ateez : the normal Ateez and the Hala Ateez (black suits with fedora hats we see first in the HALA HALA MV). From what I've read here and there, Hala Ateez are etheir a different version of them (maybe darker or less innocent ??) or themselves but from the futur. I tend to think it's more the second one but it could be both. So the Hala Ateez come from a futuristic society where music, art and emotions are forbidden (which is the city we see in this MV and Guerilla) and they came back in time to ask help to the normal Ateez to overthrow this society. Ateez have a pirate theme (hence the perrot 😂). Basically they are pirates who travel in space and time. The hourglass is what gives them the power to do so (you can see it in several MVs and performances : Kingdom performances, the end of Deja Vu, in Halazia Yunho is in giant broken hourglass...). Guerilla was the episode before this comeback where they spread their revolutionary message and started to infiltrate the Prestige Academy where the youth of the society is brainwashed. In this comeback, we can see they made it to the academy because they're inside it at the end of the video (the part where they're in a big fancy white room). The white mask guy that Hongjoong shoots at the end is a bounty hunter who's been sent by the futuristic society to catch and stop Ateez in one of their time and space travelling (he's present in other MVs like Answer or Fireworks, and maybe more but I only remember those two). I also think that Hala Ateez are etheir dead or trapped somewhere because we haven't seen them in a while and in Halazia (which suposedly happens before Guerilla ??), we can see Wooyoung burning a fedora hat and the scarecrow wearing the Hala Ateez outfit is burning too. There are a lot of other details about the storyline that I didn't explain but I don't really know them so I'm sticking to what I remember. Anyway, that is my take on their lore from the few things I've read. Hope it helps ! Maybe it's even more confusing 😂😂
For the people who are directly watching MV before trailers : 1. Watch all the trailers and prologues of the world ep.2 outlaw for better experience ATEEZ actually are traveling in different time dimensions as you might have notice in gurilla they were in modern time and in HALAZIA they were in past time. Well for now in this MV: ATEEZ are wanted in this town so they have to go undercover and wait for right moment to attack which is finally here in bouncy MV. More specifically Mingi and Hongjoong wanted posters are only there and people don't know about the other members. Yunho and jongho are police but working against the evil region, seongwha and yeosang are bikers and it's kind of hard for me to explain San and woyoung character but you might already understand that. In the end the poster we see I think it is the poster of the evil region they are fighting against. And they are still behind ATEEZ even after so much gas happened.
i am Not an ateez lore expert but episode one was the album with guerilla! halazia was a "spin off" but i think in the lore it takes place before this, possibly in an alternate universe? the white set is prestige academy, which is the place they were hacking into in the guerilla mv and the school that the kid escaped from in the post credits scene of guerilla, and i believe they're going to infiltrate it? but seriously do not quote me on any of this i've only been listening for a few months and i have only looked into a little bit of the lore lmao
Lore: this is a follow up to Guerilla. So ATEEZ’s lore is very in-depth, but cliff notes version is they are in a place called Strictland, which is devoid of human emotion. They are brainwashed by the government and ATEEZ is also being chased by Android Guardians (they appear as the masked man in white in several of their MVs). In this MV, they are under cover and at the very end they infiltrate the Prestige Academy (where the kids are brainwashed by little yellow earpieces) and at the end they blow up the tower where the android guardians are (you get just a glimpse of it). But their goal is to overtake the government and wake people up to make them feel human emotions again. The World albums are very interlaced with the lore and tells their story. The outlaw album is very dark and haunting. HALAZIA I guess was supposed to be part of it (I heard) which makes so much sense.
The choreo to this is actually insane

The chorus is so addicting!!
This album is soooo good. Their New World albums are on another level.
