what a wonderful story and history. I live in Australia but we are visiting Cape Cod in late June this year and hope to hire a cat boat for a day sail. Will this boat be anywhere in this region at this time thanks.
Hi John. I have some info I can pass to you. I can give you some more details if you contact me directly at mcline (at) salvationnavy (dot) net. But... First and foremost, try to contact Kurt Peterson ( www.catboatcharters.com ) . He has Tigress and now Dolphin. They operate out of Edgartown and Newport. Second, the Cape Cod Maritime Museum operates a catboat named Sarah. She’s a Crosby replica. I think she’s 18 or 20ft. Thirdly, the Catboat Preservation Group has "suspect" but I don’t know John’s schedule. If we give him a heads up now, maybe he can get the boat in for Memorial Day weekend, but we have been plagued with so many issues. I’m hoping this year is a little smoother. And lastly, it’s not on Cape Cod, but up in Maine. Down east Windjammer Cruise Lines has the catboat Calynda. And there’s several CBA members who could probably make themselves available to a fellow CBA member, especially one from afar. Join the "Catboat Association Lounge" on Facebook and post that you are interested in going out on a catboat and when you will be in town. I know there are tons of folks who would love to take you out.
Thanks for posting this. What a wonderful story of restoration, dogged research, and a bright future - whoever she is!
