My fav Spidey actor is Andrew Garfield. The Spectacular Spiderman animated show, was the best. Spiderman the Animated Series in the 90's is my second best.
The first Toby Maguire "Spider-Man" movie actually has a basis in the comics for him semi having organic webbing. In the comics there was a storyline where Spider-Man was cloned. Of the three clones made of him one was identical to his normal self, and later went onto (for a short time) replace Peter Parker when they erroneously believed that Peter was the clone and Ben Reilly was the real Peter. His other two clones had defects in the genetic material, with one able to produce an acid from his skin that burned his victims, and took on the name of "Kaine". The third clone actually WAS able to create organic webbing from his hands, but did not become as involved as the former two clones in the comics. All three were created by the Jackal, though I cannot remember who was using that alias at the time.
Sorry, but the organic webbing idea predates the 90's comic book Clone Saga. The idea originated with James Cameron in the Spidey movie treatment that he created for Caralco films and later Cannon films. Sam Raimi and Sony later inherited the movie rights and kept the organic webbing from the original movie treatment.
Comic accurate or not, I actually prefer him having organic webbing. 1) what’s the point of “spider powers” if you can’t web? But 2) Mechanical webbing seems crazy, because you couldn’t get very far without running out of fluid. Those bracelets couldn’t hold more than a few ounces. A few shots…and then your falling to your death! So the natural webbing makes a lot more sense.
The 67 Spiderman, with that amazing opening theme is my favorite, but I only remember seeing the first season that still had the comic book baddies. As far as live action, Tobey McGuire's movies were the best and most accurate to the original origins. But yes it's pretty cool how the No Way Home has now tied them all together.

It is worth pointing out that Spider-Man inspired Super Sentai rather than the other way round, Leopardon being the key element as before that the two Sentai beforehand only had vehicles, the year after Spider-Man came out Super Sentai incorperated the giant robots into their stories.
Technically there wasn't a Super Sentai at the time, just Sentai. Battle Fever J which was also created with Marvel was the first Sentai series for a long time, until right before the premiere of Ohranger I believe.
@@inklingboi08 Yeah, that's why I only referred to the Sentai before Spider-Man as Sentai, Super Sentai started with Battle Fever J, the first two (Goranger and J.A.K.Q) were retroactively made part of Super Sentai in 1994.
Kirby will always be the King, but in this case he was just being faithful to what Steve Ditko had already designed and used in the issue. Stan Lee, who was the editor and dialogue writer, loved the story Ditko had created, but he didn't think the cover was powerful enough, so he had Kirby draw another cover for the issue at the last minute. Ditko's original cover has been reprinted several times in subsequent years. The published one has become iconic, but I'd say the two covers are actually close to the same quality, except Ditko's original didn't give the reader a clear view of the costume. I think that was the difference, given Spidey was a brand new character.

13:30 - Spiderman actual fueled the Sentai craze. It was the popularity of giant robots on his show that cause toei to bring giant robots to Sentai which didn't have any until that point. Which saved Sentai. Since JAKQ was doing poorly. 15 seasons of sentai later Saban brought Zyuranger over to America as Power Rangers. So yes, Spider-Man is why we have Power Rangers.
I like how a horror director ultimately was given the opportunity to direct the first Spider-Man movie since a horror artist was the one who co-created Spider-Man to begin with
The Ultimate Spider-Man is the most underrated Spider-Man of all time, for me he’ll always be the best Spider-Man incarnation. He’s absolutely hilarious, and for one of the only times ever he’s actually insanely powerful and doesn’t constantly act like a kid. Like this version of Spider-Man is actually stronger than the Hulk and Thor having killed all the Avengers, and X-men as well as a few others as Wolf Spider. And it also showed how powerful the sinister six actually is, with Rhino going head to head with The Hulk and gaining an upper hand against him as well as Goblin going on a rampage and killing everybody when Spider-Man quits. It just showed just how powerful Spider-Man really is, even comics Spider-Man can’t beat the Hulk without power ups.

I remember seeing that live action pilot in the 70’s at the cinema. It was when they showed two films one pre-movie and then the main movie. None of friends believed me saying there was no live action film.
Fun fact about Spiderman: Back in the '90s, the famous king of Pop Michael Jackson wanted to play our friendly neighbor as he was a big fan of the comics, if it wasn't for the allegations he faced back then, this would have been a great chance to see the famous singer playing the well known comic hero of all time.
Firestar was created for Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends and had never been in an X-Men comic, her comic debut was as an Avenger. They wanted Human Torch but legal issues prevented it for the same reason we got HERBIE instead of Johnny Storm in old FF cartoons. So they invented another character with fire powers.
I think the reason why Spiderman is so popular *is* his accessibility. Firstly, he's young, not some billionaire with too much free time on his hands. He has school/college, he has to get good grades, support himself financially, etc. There is a weight to being Spiderman for him because it takes up *so* much of his time, as well as affects his personal relationships very intimately, which is how it would be for most of us. We couldn't balance the double life of being ourselves plus Spiderman, so when we see him struggle to, we empathize with that experience. Also, his powers are notably simplistic and not too difficult for us to imagine having. When you see superheroes like Ironman, we often think to ourselves, "How on earth does he control that tech??" with it answered simply, "He's a genius," so it creates this distance between us and the character. With Spiderman, however, there's very little tech (albeit, a little more with the most recent iteration, which wound up going back to its roots anyway) and what he does seems pretty doable. If we had spider powers, we'd be able to walk on walls, have super strength, and potentially have web-shooters (natural, if in the Tobey Maguire-verse). To imagine flying through New York City on some webs is a dream many of us have when sitting in gridlock, so making it seem doable gives us a fantasy we can not only imagine ourselves in, but we want to keep imagining. Sometimes, a good superhero story is one that you just don't want to leave.
This is just the video I was looking for! After seeing No Way Home I couldn't help wondering how spiderman started and where the spiderman cartoons I'd seen as a kid fit in with Marvel's more recent vision of our favorite red and blue hero. Another great video. Thanks, Dave!
If Stan Lee was alive I want to thank him personally for everything, if hadn't been for him we wouldn't have gotten spiderman and the other amazing superheroes in our childhoods. God bless your soul stan!
my favourite Spiderman series is the 1994 one. it has a lot of complex storylines. I like the character development for Felicia and the buildup to her becoming Black Cat.

I was 7 in 1977 when I found the animated spider man. Still loved it with all my kid heart.
Stan Lee is the Mark Twain of our time. 'Nuff said.
I think stan passed mark Twain level fame years ago
Nice Video. I hope to see Captain America and Batman in the near future.
this is the very first video i have watched on youtube with no pauses distractions or anything because it was interesting and entertaining thank you so much for a good video and some amazing content keep it up 🥳
You don't know HOW LONG I waited for this
Hope it’s worth the wait!!
I love to see Marvel slowly getting their shit together on how to popularise the Spider-Man franchise.
I remember seeing that live action pilot in the 70’s at the cinema. It was when they showed two films one pre-movie and then the main movie. None of friends believed me saying there was no live action film.
Fun fact about Spiderman:
Back in the '90s, the famous king of Pop Michael Jackson wanted to play our friendly neighbor as he was a big fan of the comics, if it wasn't for the allegations he faced back then, this would have been a great chance to see the famous singer playing the well known comic hero of all time.
Wow this is a gem of a video for all spider-man fans out there!!!!!
I like since no way home people starting to love andrews spider man even more
I love ❤ Scooby Doo, Marvel and DC.
I was obsessed with the spectacular spider man I'm salty it got cancelled
Firestar was created for Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends and had never been in an X-Men comic, her comic debut was as an Avenger. They wanted Human Torch but legal issues prevented it for the same reason we got HERBIE instead of Johnny Storm in old FF cartoons. So they invented another character with fire powers.
No one can beat Japan's Spiderman
The photo of Scott Levi as spider man was used on the cover of a issue of Amazing Spider-Man in 1985.
This is just the video I was looking for! After seeing No Way Home I couldn't help wondering how spiderman started and where the spiderman cartoons I'd seen as a kid fit in with Marvel's more recent vision of our favorite red and blue hero. Another great video. Thanks, Dave!
Thanks so much, Eleanor - much appreciated!!
I'm going to have to say my favorite depiction is in the latest game from Insomniac, Marvel's Spider-Man.
Great video!
Spiderman 94,Unlimited,Spectacular,and Amazing friends was My childhood,Magical times
Spider-Dave.. Spider-Dave.. does whatever the real Dave can.
R.I.P Stan lee he was in every feature
And to all that he saw all the true believers
Happy 99th Stan! We miss you, but your legend will live on.
YOOO, THANK YOU FOR THIS.
I`ve been watching Spiderman for a long time, and was just thinking about this tonight!
Spectacular Spider-Man will always be my favourite spidey series
The best version is, by far, Spidey and his Amazing Friends. It's not even close.
My favorite cartoon is “The Spectacular Spider-Man” and my favorite actor is Andrew Garfield ofc 😤
The thing I like the most of Spider-Man Unlimited is the Italian opening theme.
Excellent retrospective
11:25 Dude dropped before the web even hit him! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂💀
Merry Christmas Dave lee! Hope you have a terrific day and can’t wait for more content on the channel soon!
Hell yes
Nice dedication at the end there and great video for all us Spidey fans! Thank you 🙏🏻

Hell yeah. My favourite Superhero.
I don't count Thor because he's a God.
That was an amazing video, thank you :)
Thank you for watching, Gavin!
This is great! I can’t imagine how much you had to study for this video!
Love your videos Dave! My favourite Spider-Man would definitely be Tobey Maguire (I even have his Spider Logo tattooed on my body).
Thanks mate!
That’s awesome!!!
@@DaveLeeDownUnder Can you please do a ranking of the 11 Illumination films w/ Sing 2?
I really hope that Sony and Columbia will remain the way they were in future projects.
Correction; Venom's first comic book appearance was NOT in 1984 but in 1988, in May's Amazing Spider-Man #300.
Correction: The symbiote Venom first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #252 in 1984
Great video evolution Dave Lee👍👍👍
Hey Dave can you do the evolution of Wolverine and Deadpool as a way to celebrate the release of Deadpool 3 next year?
Finally time to watch the evolution of my hero in your own way, I love it 👏🏻
Wow! This is such a surprise! I’ve been wondering where you were for the last week since reviewing sing 2 lol
Always hard at work on the next video!
@ 26:46, The suit didn't remain the same at all. It was completely different. You could especially tell around the hands and feet, plus the amount of blue.
I just love Spiderman.
His my favourite super hero.
And No way home is awesome.
