Okay, so... I saw Ronan in Melbourne this Saturday just gone. My friend works at the hotel where his manager was staying, and the guy walked out, saw her dancing, and gave her free tickets to the show that night. We went thinking it would be fine or whatever, just an experience, between us we could only think of the one song and so you can imagine, in our heads we're going to see some guy who 'used to be in a boy band'. We got there after the show had started, but weren't in a rush so hit up the bar around the corner to grab some shots, and I told the bartender with a laugh that we were about to see Ronan Keating ho ho ho how funny etc., the bartender was Irish and made some joke about "oh you can't laugh at Ronan Keating to an Irishman how dare you!"
45 mins later when we ducked out to get some more shots, I walked up to the bartender and took back everything I had said before. I was COMPLETELY won over. ABSOLUTELY!! I cannot stress enough how much we both enjoyed the show. After the bar when we walked back in he (you? he? who am I even talking to here? Does his dad read these comments or something? Eh...) had just started playing Father and Son by Cat Stevens, which is ONE OF MY FUCKING FAVOURITE SONGS OF ALL TIME EVER EVER EVER and I lost my shit. My friend later said that I went 'full fanboy'.
I've been telling anyone who will listen for the last few days about the amazing experience we had at the show in Saturday night, and considering this video doesn't have many views and comments, I thought I'd post this on here on the off chance that one day you (he? Ronan. I'm talking about Ronan) will read this and know that he made two people very happy that night.
Thankyou man, your honesty and unflinchingly earnest stage presence was a joy to watch. I mean it in the most sincere and complimentary way when I say that I may even pay for a ticket next time. Ha!
