Normally I'd go on about how he gets out-tempoed because he's too greedy, but that Paladin deck had me doing yu-gi-oh reactions too. Holy crap.
That's exactly why I don't play this garbage mode. It feels like you're the only one getting random cards while your opponents are playing constructed deck with an answer to anything you throw at them
@@zaer-ezart It's because the drafting system is terrible. They should have taken notes from Legends of Runeterra.
I also don't enjoy this garbage mode and I don't know how other people can tolerate it. Sure, they can argue they want to escape the metas in constructed, but they don't realize there has *always* been a meta in Arena as well. The two key differences are:
*1.* Most of the meta cards are generally garbage everywhere outside of Arena.
*2.* You need to be lucky to draft enough said meta cards or you automatically lose to players who drafted more than you, especially if they were fortunate enough to draft game-winning legendaries like Ysera or Lady Prestor (as demonstrated in this video *and* another recent Arena run).
Lastly, the rewards are incredibly stingy. You need to get at least 7 wins for it to be worth the time and effort, and the rewards only become decent at 10+ wins, which the average player won't ever accomplish. As a small indie game company, Blizzard can't afford to give away too much for the cost of 150 gold (or $2 lmao).
The mode just boils down to making the best of bad cards, and I can see how some people see the appeal of that, but honestly, it's just not worth it.

This dude has played hearthstone for a nearly a decade and goes face against a paladin 1:00:09 that has insane buffs+dude synergy this rotation, while playing a control deck.

yeah lol, but the 12-win deck only got 5 wins for some reason so it just got to be Variance and no other reason

I mean in fairness at 3 mana, the seal of blood is really the only decent card that can punish him for trading. It's a great card in arena, but it's difficult to anticipate every move your opponent is going to make in a gamemode that's entirely randomized.

Good old trump always overvaluing value over tempo. Ignite was such a clear pick there.
Well he did say it was a tough choice. If it wasn't for the disgusting follow up turn he would've survived into playing rune + 2 parrots which almost certainly would've won him the game, whereas Flurry was just stall. You could see if he didn't have the rune in hand at the end he wouldn't of had any way to win the board back anyway. Got to play to your outs.
the real misplay there was not picking mass poly after, it would have literally just won him the game
@@ROTMGmimighster He had more value in his deck anyway. Playing to his outs was surviving. As it was pretty clear what the Druid had drafted for.
@@Hyde_Hill Yeah but by the end the Druid had board control and was going to keep on damaging him anyway. I'm not saying it was definitely the right choice but this definitely wasn't a "lol trump" moment. All those choices were valid imo.

I drafted this insane value mage deck yesterday, but I'm afraid to play it because I know I'm just gonna get smorced down.

I do think there were some misplays there. I would've picked Solid Alibi instead of Frost Armor for the Hunter game since you can fireball afterwards and remove their minion. Effectively the Frost Armor would only provide 5 HP of value for 3 mana, and a worse board state.
I also would have picked Mass Polymorph for one of the other discovers. You were low on board wipes and this would effectively allow you to recover into the game with pings.

Makes me happy I’m not the only one that gets an insane mage deck but just gets smorc af bc of a few bad hands
I finally got a high-tier mage myself with all the Parrot stuff and Astalor too, only my 2nd mage in this set and probably the best draft I've ever had. And I started out 0-2, especially in a 0-1 game losing to a Paladin with the most insane deck I've ever seen made me lose my mind. All the tempo buffs, 2x Immortalized in Stone, Leviathan, divine shield weapon, Templar Captains etc. I don't think I saw a single card over a 20 turn game that was not premium and drawn at the right spot.
I did end up going 7-3 on the mage though and then lost to a mage with almost identical deck as mine but actually also had discovers. But it's crazy the kind of decks you can run into at any point of the run. Feels usually that the games get more consistent and predictable past like 5+ wins. Pro averages are low historically due to the highrolls, but it's still the same pros overall that can make some sense of this mess.

More often than not, whenever i draft a really good deck, I always win less than I think I would.
Same. But that also happens when I draft a bad deck, and also a middling deck.
This was about 5 or 6 years ago in the release of frozen throne, where I drafted a 70 point mage deck and then I proceeded to face even more insane decks than mine, and then I went 5-3. Insane hunter deck with insane curve and deathstalker that just completely out valued anything I did, then I faced another mage with a hero card and 2 primordial glyphs (I didn't get the chance to draft a hero btw). I lost that game because I drew horribly. I started 1-2 cause of that. I won the next 4 but then I went up against an insane warlock deck for having 2 losses.
They had like 2 abyssal infernals that just absolutely destroyed all of my tempo then from kabal courier he pulled a felfire potion to set up lethal the next turn. They also had a hero card (notice the theme?). I was so upset I legit took like a month or so off of playing arena. And what do you know. Arena got a lot better when hero cards got removed.
I also just realized I sound a lot like kripp of old lol

Guys I'm so confused I was just watching this video earlier and I saw a paladin game and then he won queued up against Demon Hunter and said this was the "best class this arena meta" and then I stopped and now I come back and I don't recognise anything what's happening

I think it's really sad how trump doesn't go with his gut instead of the numbers in the stats, honestly they're not even accurate because they don't consider curve, tempo, the meta, how common cards are OR synergies correctly, the asharan sweeper with the trench surveyor is 2 mana draw 4 cards with synergies, it's insane, and it barely considers that, If he went with his instict and experience it'd be more fun i think

I don't think this deck was as good as he thought it was. Massive value, but low on key cards like location, Astalor, and sticky minions and survivability.
Is behind, doesnt have a board, discover a solution, picks instead a 9 mana spell on turn 5, terrible player.
Such a bad deck, couldn't even beat a hunter
