It was amazing to view Morgan Freeman on that iconic children's show when I was young, and to see him later as this amazing actor is the icing on the cake! Such an awesome and very talented man, in everything that he has done.
Easy Reader. He got me through grade school. Whenever the other kids made fun of me for wanting to sit and read during recess, I'd think, "Screw them. EASY READER says it's cool to read!"
I grew up loving The Electric Company. In my youth in Seattle I remembered it was considered across the board, by young and old, as an unquestionably outstandingly good positive thing. Ah nostalgia, those were the days. Thank you Morgan and Jimmy.
Roshan Ailani he LITERALLY did that? Show me the LITERAL proof? How can you go around just saying stuff like this with no justification ?? Oh yeah, just be a female
I was listening to my Electric Company Spider Man record album that I got in 1977 and it's narrated by Morgan Freeman! It's great listening to him tell the story of Spider Man.
I gotta tell you, I am 55 now and I LOVED Easy Reader!! I see how funny the name is now referring to Easy Rider. Watching now shows me how hip and fun the character was. Just like Sesame Street which I watched too, they had a little something for the parents in there too. Mr. Rogers I also still love as well. This is the first thing I think of when I hear the name Morgan Freeman! Uh, uh, uh!
Sesame Street, Electric Company, Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood, Carrascolendas, Villa Allegre! , 5 days a week from the time I was 6, a major part of my early education came from PBS.
Yes. EC was an off-limits topic for years w/Morgan. Glad he’s mellowed out on this. Now, if only someone could get Susan Dey to talk about the Partridge Family.
Wow! Morgan Freeman is just as funny here as he was on The Electric Company! Though he didn't enjoy doing that show - he was embarrassed doing a kids' show and only did it because it was his "first taste of financial security" - he really showed his comic and dramatic versatility on it, from Easy Reader to Mel Mounds to Marco the Magician to Vincent the Vegetable Vampire, and many more. That was a fabulous start for such a great actor. Thanks for posting!
He is in a 1979 movie with Hattie Winston and Saundra Pearl Sharp and he plays an addict who jumps from a roof, its a good movie and he is amazing in it.
As Dracula: "I love the letter 'v' because my favorite word starts with the letter 'v.' And do you know what my favorite word is? My favorite word is....'vanilla!'" Funniest thing Morgan Freeman ever said on that show.
Morgan Freeman and the Electric Company, taught me had to read before I was in Kindergarten. Thank you, Mr. Morgan Freeman!!! And now I take baths in my casket?
Unlike on May 5, 2020, I was able to fully watch this video tonight. It was nice to actually hear him talk about his time on "The Electric Company". He rarely talks about his time on the show! 🤓
I LOVE THE ELECTRIC COMPANY !!! I hv always preferred that to sesame street Morgan Freeman I hope u know u hv a lot of malaysian kids that learnt a lot of English from that show -from Malaysia
I saw Morgan Freeman movies a couple of times before I realized he was in The Electric Company. I remember thinking he looked familiar. I must have been 6 when the Eclectic Company came on, I was a big fan! Thanks you!
I grew up during the 70s watching Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Zoom, and the Big Blue Marble. That was a great time to be a kid, because there was no internet or video games to distract us. The Children Television Worshop did an amazing job with the PBS shows, also ABC did a great job on Saturday Mornings with educating kids during cartoon breaks with Schoolhouse Rock. I actually learned more from Schoolhouse Rock then I did from my elementary school teachers. It is amazing that the songs from Schoolhouse Rock are still in my head more than 50 years after hearing them.
Finally someone asked Morgan Freeman about his time on Electric Company....however I hate it was Kimmel. Easy Reader was the best. Although, not the best interview...would like it more serious.
I remember an electric company segment where morgan tasted 2 kinds of cola. one was in a light brown cup with a light yellow lower case q on it and the other was in a light brown cup with a light yellow lower case m on it. hattie Winston or lee chamberlain is also in that segment. when morgan tasted the q cola, he made a yucky face but he swallowed it. the m cola tasted even yuckier and he spat it out and then said something about both colas being from the land of yuck. I hope someone posts that segment on youtube
Kimmel is taking one for the team. lol There's an entire generation who LOVES this guy for something he hated doing. I know he thinks it's beneath him, but the Electric Company was a jam and really creative. He should be proud or it Morgan Freeman takes himself too seriously sometimes
Easy Reader did a promo with Big Bird re Nashville TV stations switching channels. Big Bird and Grover each cameoed on _The Electric Company._ IIRC Bird went to consult with Fargo North, Decoder on a puzzle. Grover ... I think I remember him at a diner? Don't recall specifics though.
When Rita Moereno was offered a part on the EC she was advised not to take it because it supposedly signified she couldn't get any other work as an actor. Decades later she has her own Hollywood star.
*sings* I'm Vincent the Vegetable Vampire! In the nighttime tomatoes start to scream! It's only Vincent the vegetable vampire...reaping in the garden of your dreams...
I remember reading only because I HAD to ~ but when I saw how much fun Easy Reader was having when he read, THAT opened my eyes to an entire world of fun reading. Morgan Freeman could talk me through a bowel movement and it would still sound like a TED talk
B-O-W + E-L = Bowel
Oh my goodness three years later, i am lol at your comments. Hehe. I love youtube!
you is stoopid 🤣 🤪 😜
Easy Reader. He got me through grade school. Whenever the other kids made fun of me for wanting to sit and read during recess, I'd think, "Screw them. EASY READER says it's cool to read!"
👏👏👏
Very true.
Same man !!
I'm with you!
No doubt.
I grew up loving The Electric Company. In my youth in Seattle I remembered it was considered across the board, by young and old, as an unquestionably outstandingly good positive thing. Ah nostalgia, those were the days. Thank you Morgan and Jimmy.
Me too! Well, Federal Way, but close enough. We also had JP Patches!💗
The Electric Company was gold for me. One of my most fave childhood TV shows along with Sesame Street.
Morgan freemans voice is something else
Ez Reader had a theme song and Morgan sang it…it is adorable.
We must protect Morgan Freeman
Especially with all those whores trying to ruin his good name.
georgemiser He literally tried lifting women’s skirts without their consent.
georgemiser aside from that he’s also just kind of an ashsole
Roshan Ailani he LITERALLY did that? Show me the LITERAL proof? How can you go around just saying stuff like this with no justification ?? Oh yeah, just be a female
He apologized about that so theres your proof.
Come on, everybody: "Top to bottom, left to right. That reading stuff is-a OUTTASITE!"
LOL. It was groovy man. Can you dig it?
It was outtacitious!😂
I was listening to my Electric Company Spider Man record album that I got in 1977 and it's narrated by Morgan Freeman! It's great listening to him tell the story of Spider Man.
They should preserve the vocal cord of Morgan Freeman when he passes away just like they save the brains of brilliant scientists!
they should turn them into cello strings
That's not creepy at all 😀
As a 5-year-old, I LOVED Sesame Street and Electric Company. Those 2 programs contributed to my ability to learn how to read quickly.

Uh, uh, uh!
I still watch the Electric Company once in awhile. Its got an awesome sketch comedy vibe, and it is really fun and happy.
When I was a kid (I'm 53 now), I had *SUCH* a crush on Easy Reader!
Sesame Street, Electric Company, Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood, Carrascolendas, Villa Allegre! , 5 days a week from the time I was 6, a major part of my early education came from PBS.
So I'm not the only one who remembers Ville Allegre
Don't forget Zoom.
FINALY! He comes out about the Electric Company....❤️
Yes,after much hostile silence he's talking about it.Better late than never!
@@georgemaster9271Kimmel put him on the spot. haha Gen X wants that hug real bad. 😂
Yes. EC was an off-limits topic for years w/Morgan. Glad he’s mellowed out on this. Now, if only someone could get Susan Dey to talk about the Partridge Family.
@@SamWestingwhy?
Accomplished actors sometimes don’t want to talk about early roles that are embarrassing for them to talk about.
I’m not a Jimmy Kimmel fan, but I am an Easy Reader fan!
Those people who got his autograph and threw them on the floor must be kicking themselves. Those autographs must be worth a small fortune now.
I don't think 3/4's of the audience was even born in the 1990s let alone old enough to watch Electric company from the 1970s.
I was born in 2001 and watched electric company at my grandparents house cus all they had was PBS. Never judge!
@@hamosally3860how cool! were you watching 1970’s Electric Company reruns or was it a reboot?!
A lot of regretful people thinking of what his autograph is worth today...
Exactamondo.
Some people said the same about Vanilla Ice
Who's narrating Morgan Freeman's life?
god.
😂💜😂💜😂💜😂
the king of cool I'm sure it's the other way around
Why would Morgan Freeman narrate himself?
I’m not religious but when I think of “God” I picture and hear Morgan Freeman bc that movie he did with Steve Carroll I think it was
Wow! Morgan Freeman is just as funny here as he was on The Electric Company! Gotta start somewhere.
He is in a 1979 movie with Hattie Winston and Saundra Pearl Sharp and he plays an addict who jumps from a roof, its a good movie and he is amazing in it.
If only he had known back then what he meant to us kids, I'm sure he would've been happy doing that show.
He did it well anyway and I, and many others who grew up during that time, appreciate it
As Dracula: "I love the letter 'v' because my favorite word starts with the letter 'v.' And do you know what my favorite word is? My favorite word is....'vanilla!'" Funniest thing Morgan Freeman ever said on that show.
This man Morgan is so authentic.
I LOVE Electric Company! Great for helping kids read

So many good things about The Electric Company. I still love the song 12345 678910 11 12.
@@davidcrowley6216 That was Sesame Street. Electric Company dealt only with reading.
Morgan Freeman was great as Easy Reader. He made it cool to read.

I loved both.
Praise To That Man👆
Sad that he hated being on the Electric Company. I loved that show, and loved him on it. He will always be Easy Reader to me.
He will always be Easy Reader to me.
There was an episode of Electric Company where Big Bird met Fargo North, Decoder. And another where Oscar shares a scene with J. Arthur Crank.
I want every single one of those signed pieces of paper that people didn’t want! ❤️🤟🏻😍
You know they were kicking themselves for not keeping his autograph years later, after Morgan really blew up😂
Morgan gets major props for being Easy Reader. Like seriously. I could care in the least about his fame afterwards. Him and Rita were legends!
I saw Morgan Freeman movies a couple of times before I realized he was in The Electric Company. I remember thinking he looked familiar. I must have been 6 when the Eclectic Company came on, I was a big fan! Thanks you!
I love Morgan Freeman. He's an incredible actor.
I agree with what you just said, being an EC fan back in those days. (The show helped me especially to learn to read.)
Marcellooooo! The word is “snap”. SNAP!!!
What a man, such a amazing actor and what a talent!!
I watched The Electric Company.....I miss it and my children and grandchildren missed out.
Electric company was one of my favorite shows
Mellow Mel Mounds with Pounds Of Sounds comin' to you tune goons and sound hounds with the latest from the Short Circuits......
Morgan Freeman will ALWAYS be Easy Reader to THIS proud Gen Xer! Nowadays, he's Easy Reader reading scripts narrating shows and advertisements!
It would be an honor to meet him!
That's were I first saw him on Electric Company in the 70s

"HEY YOU GUYS!"
Rita!!
If anyone kept their Easy Reader autograph, I have to wonder what it would be worth now.
Wouldn't his sign signature be worth a good amount of money today .. I feel those people missed out of a good investment there
Yep a couple of grand for sure ;0)
Easy reader was the coolest when I was growing up and I still love to read.

Morgan Freeman takes himself too seriously sometimes
It wasn’t until a few years ago that Morgan softened towards the show.
may have been in preschool... rode bus from Gary In. to see the show live.. had some problem.. turned around and went back without seeing a thing
We could've gone down a great rabbit hole of Easy Reader stories but he chose to ask the dumbest questions.
I remember the first time I saw Morgan Freeman in a movie and thought, "Hey! That's Vincent The Vegetable Vampire!"

Easy Reader and Big Bird did a network channel change spot a long time ago. So technically they did work together more than that parade.
Best actor of my lifetime.
"What about Mr. Rogers? Nothing with him?" You gotta love Jimmy Kimmel.
Especially when he could have asked, "What was it like to work with Rita Moreno?"
Yeah, I don't think there was ever any Electric Company/Mister Rogers crossover. Mister Rogers and Big Bird did appear on each other's shows in 1981.
Makes you wonder what his 12 years were like between The Electric Company and Lean On Me.
Wow! I never knew it was Morgan Freeman on the Electric Company! Okay, does anyone remember Zoom? Or was that just out of Boston?
Zoom was produced by WGBH but aired nationally. The Electric Company was produced by CTW.
