Bittersweet. I can't get through this soundtrack without feeling every emotion. I saw it live in the 90s. Broadway. 3 times. Cried and gritted my teeth every time. This story is epic. This is the best. By far
It’s about LOVE. The different types of love in our lives..love of God, love of country, parental love, filial love, young love, love of friendship, obsessive love and material love. I come back to Les Miserables time and time again over the years because of the underling themes.
I simply cannot read and listen to this because I keep singing along then ending up singing the words of the book to the tune of this song. Therefore I shall play computer games. While listening to this.
oh thank god im not the only person who does that, once i was reading whilst listening to Cake by the ocean by DNCE................... and you can imagine how that ended.......
This always brings a chill down my spine, and makes my hair stand on end. This is such a beautiful musical, it deserves all the attention it can get, has gotten, and will continue to earn.
in the film with the poor homeless people with the babies just brought tears to my eyes.... this film doesnt half make you realise how fortunate you are!
So emotional and meaningful! One of the best songs in the musical, and that's saying something. Leaves you thinking; "At the end of the day, you're another day older"...
I listen to this at work, or have it stuck in my head. This and Look Down where Gavroche introduces himself. They definitely push me through the work day
At the end of the day you're another day older And that's all you can say for the life of the poor It's a struggle, it's a war And there's nothing that anyone's giving One more day standing about, what is it for? One day less to be living. At the end of the day you're another day colder And the shirt on your back doesn't keep out the chill And the righteous hurry past They don't hear the little ones crying And the plague is coming on fast, ready to kill One day nearer to dying! At the end of the day there's another day dawning And the sun in the morning is waiting to rise Like the waves crash on the sand Like a storm that'll break any second There's a hunger in the land There's a reckoning still to be reckoned and There's gonna be hell to pay At the end of the day! At the end of the day you get nothing for nothing Sitting flat on your bum doesn't buy any bread There are children back at home And the children have got to be fed And you're lucky to be in a job And in a bed! And we're counting our blessings! Have you seen how the Foreman is fuming today? With his terrible breath and his wandering hands? It's because little Fantine won't give him his way Take a look at his trousers, you'll see where he stands! And the boss, he never knows That the Foreman is always in heat If Fantine doesn't look out Watch how she goes She'll be out on the street! At the end of the day it's another day over With enough in your pocket to last for a week Pay the landlord, pay the shop Keep on working as long as you're able Keep on working till you drop Or it's back to the crumbs off the table You've got to pay your way At the end of the day! And what have we here, little innocent sister? Come on Fantine, let's have all the news! Dear Fantine you must send us more money Your child needs a doctor There's no time to lose Give that letter to me It is none of your business With a husband at home And a bit on the side! Is there anyone here Who can swear before God She has nothing to fear? She has nothing to hide? What is this fighting all about? Someone tear these two apart This is a factory, not a circus! Come on ladies, settle down I am the Mayor of this town I run a business of repute Deal with this, Foreman, Be as patient as you can Yes, Monsieur Madeline I might have known the bitch could bite I might have known the cat had claws I might have guessed your little secret Ah yes, the virtuous Fantine Who keeps herself so pure and clean You'd be the cause I had no doubt Of any trouble hereabout You play a virgin in the light But need no urgin' in the night. She's been laughing at you While she's having her men She'll be nothing but trouble again and again You must sack her today Sack the girl today! Right my girl. On your way!
This play should be a wakeup call for people who keep saying the world is “worse than ever” - it is not. We’ve actually come a very long way from the way we used to have to be due to our mechanisms of control, our politics, our limited resources, and most of the social evils people now detest which then were mainstream. We live in a world that is far better than it ever was…but with some glitches, that are paramount to happiness, and must be solved. I wish I wasn’t the only one who understood that. A few examples…. Love is love Expression is paramount to existence And freedom is essential to human life Take away the people’s abilities to love, express, and be free - and you will see consequences, time and time again. Just like in this play.
A little late, but you're totally right! One of the main underlying themes in Les Mis (specifically the book) is progress. It's something that can apply to any age in history, which is what makes Les Mis so relatable even now
What makes this part of the book so tragic is that Fantine’s life is one big slippery slope. She tried for months to live honestly before resorting to selling her body.
IDK but i want to go back to november when my school did a collab with the local private school and we did les nis it was such an amazing experience with an amazing cast and set.

Oh, God, if I could but ask one question of ye, it would be to know why you allow the world to allow to be thus? Are we you servants turly so unworth? What hope is there?
i love how this music sounds hopeful but the lyrics are definitely Not
totally agree! its very cleverly written!

Chad Michael I saw this off Broadway in Toronto, brought me to tears
I definitely agree!
C’est Francaise!!

When I'm sad, I think about the harmonies in this song, and it makes me happy for some reason.
I simply cannot read and listen to this because I keep singing along then ending up singing the words of the book to the tune of this song. Therefore I shall play computer games. While listening to this.

Every time I hear "And in a bed..." I think of Sierra Boggess singing it and it makes me smile
hahahaha same!
saaame
Glad I'm not the only one
I just looked at the lyrics and I always remember the 16 measure medley where she ended with "and in a bed"
The harmonies are so chilling!
Les Miserables, is one of THE best musicals. Ever.
This always brings a chill down my spine, and makes my hair stand on end. This is such a beautiful musical, it deserves all the attention it can get, has gotten, and will continue to earn.
At the end of the day your another day closer to the future where people are better
I just can't bring myself to call Les Miserables a musical.. that would be an insult. Les Miserables is an Experience.
Musicals are experiences.
in the film with the poor homeless people with the babies just brought tears to my eyes.... this film doesnt half make you realise how fortunate you are!
It is even better when you see the show live on stage.
So emotional and meaningful! One of the best songs in the musical, and that's saying something. Leaves you thinking; "At the end of the day, you're another day older"...
Like the lines from Cabaret:
Start by admitting from cradle to tomb, it isn't that long a stay!
Life is a Cabaret!
THE ORCHESTRATIONS COMPLETE ME
Learning this song in chorus - I love it so much! It even tops my Percy Jackson Playlist!
Sameeee
I can't decide...Les Miz or Hamilton? I'll just go with Les Hamilton
Natalie Holert Les Miserables is no longer on Broadway
Noooo I didn't know that
*sarcastic voice*
Natalie Holert Monsieur 'Amilton! Monsieur Valjean! I mean. Lafayette.
Lani Elizabeth Jones YES YES YES
Natalie Holert les mis is better I think.

I am the Mayor of this town
I run a business of repute
Deal with this, Foreman,
Be as patient as you can
Yes, Monsieur Madeline
I might have known the bitch could bite
I might have known the cat had claws
I might have guessed your little secret
Ah yes, the virtuous Fantine
Who keeps herself so pure and clean
You'd be the cause I had no doubt
Of any trouble hereabout
You play a virgin in the light
But need no urgin' in the night.
She's been laughing at you
While she's having her men
She'll be nothing but trouble again and again
You must sack her today
Sack the girl today!
Right my girl. On your way!
Stephen King's IT The Broadway Musical
Featuring: Colleen Ballinger as Pennywise The Dancing Clown
Bro i would kill to be Pennywise in a musical
why?because his voice sounds like tim curry
this remains my favorite track from the greatest show ever.
I LOVE the beginning the pit plays
Did these in my musical theatre group, so much fun.
favourite song out of the whole musical! i've played most of the les mis songs in my orchestra was so much fun
Same
What instrument?
we're doing all the songs in my choir class... i love it
One of my favorite musicals!
I love the way they use synth in these arrangements!
Im listening to his right now in preparation for the show, which I'm watching in 2 hours and 27 minutes
How was it?
"and the winter is coming..." :)
Misheard lyrics, George R. R. Martin version 😂😂😂
I stayed up till 5 am with this stuck in my head... What is my life right now??
Bloody amazing, I adore Les Miserables
The first musica that i see and i really like, the movie is amazing the pictures is amazing the songs is just perfect !
25 years good song good story line Claude-Michel Schönberg you made a good musical
Cannot count how many times I watched this play as a child :D

Which musical is better Les Miserables or Wicked? I've gotta choose one of them to see and have no idea!!!!
I saw both last month that I went to NYC
Both are amazing, and really different.....Personally I prefered Les Miserables
Thanks for helping! I'm almost sure I'm going to watch Les Miserables :)
Les Mis is better a little bit , my opinion
I prefer Wicked, Maybe because I read the book, and I don't read Les Miserables, hahahaha.
Les Mis
Thanks so much for posting this! I bought the CD a while ago and I can't find it, haha. But I was dying to listen to these songs XD
love the stage production
Love it, love the whole musical!
YES! same here I love this musical!:D
I remember every trumpet note in the whole musical-I played it!
I might go see Les Mis in September and I really want to!! I just hope covid doesn’t ruin it!!!
"now someone say how this beGAN"
Reading this part in the book, I was dissapointed, when things were not happening as in the musical (I know the book was first.)
What makes this part of the book so tragic is that Fantine’s life is one big slippery slope. She tried for months to live honestly before resorting to selling her body.
@@theonesparrowhawk Poor Fantine... She deserved so much better.
love the 25th anniversary concert version of this song...
That's the style of the song!
I would say that this is a lot better than the shitty movie version.
Your opinion. I thought the movie was pretty good with a different take on the song.
I can`t hear and in a bed without thinking of Sierra boggess 🤣
great great song!
hey look, there's a little red smudge next to the like bar
i fell for that! I'm so stupid! :P
my favourite les mis song
Why do yall keep comparing Hamilton and Les Mis? Lol, they're diff. music genres
IDK but i want to go back to november when my school did a collab with the local private school and we did les nis it was such an amazing experience with an amazing cast and set.
masterpiece
zum weinen so schön
Simply the Best
THIS IS BIG SONG
この映画の衝撃は一生忘れられない
I just noticed how they said fast like from the north rather than "farst" like in london O.o
this one of my favourite song
@MultiBelle22 I believe it's also Colm Wilkinson.... I'm fairly sure, anyway.
@BigWhopper64 Maybe i should take you up on that. I'll prepare the boards from the barricade...Bwahahaha. ;)
@MultiBelle22 It's Colm Wilkinson
my favourite is: do you hear the people sing?
Take a look at his trousers - you see where he stands ;)
The inconsistency with the accents kinda make it confusing
@MultiBelle22 If you want a look at him, type in Les Mis 10th anniversary concert and that is Colm singing! :D x
懐かしいなぁ
jadore les mis
Who's playing Jean Valjean here?
Colm Wilkinson, I believe
I think 1995 performance is the best version
I feel a need to reveal this hidden masterpiece with the rest of theater fans.

Why is this sped up?
" When your life's a facade. "
If you get this reference i love you.
I need to say has anybody thought the woman who sings at 1:40-1:47 sounds like Ethel Merman????
