tbh in the last couple of months I've become so much more expressive with my facial expressions and gestures and I've been wondering why, but I now realize it might resolve from my excessive watching of your videos
As a bisexual diagnosed with ADHD - my chaos has yet to find an organizational system to even slightly tame it, but I am obsessed with the idea of getting organized and organizational systems. Perfection, as per usual! 🗡⚔️🗡
The way I read while being a student is that I don't 😂 Once uni starts, I struggle a lot with my reading because, after having to read all sorts of crap for uni, the last thing I wanna do is read more, which is, of course, sad, because I would love to read more of my TBR, but I am one of those people that gets tired really quickly, short attention span, you name it, I have them all.
since i was bored during quarantine, i catalogued every single book i own in a google spreadsheet (like title, author, whether i've read it) and it's how i can see my tbr is way too long :")
With all my organizational systems, I like to have a *lot* of leeway for if/when plans change. I use Notion, too, and have a big database of all the books read in a year, and a smaller page with a checklist for my month’s TBR! I also like having a physical TBR pile too, right at head height so I see it all the time and am reminded to *read*. My school stuff is all online and bc I don’t want to be on screens too much, I keep track of deadlines in a paper journal. I’m a big “week by week” person so I try to not overwhelm myself. 😊
I'm using a bullet journal as a method to stay organized. But tbh it took me over a year to create a system and pages that helped me and I actually used. Also even though I know now what works for me in a way (I'm still a very messy person with my thoughts all over the place lol) I still switch things up from time to time. For the months I had Uni online I had to create a different system than for the time I had Uni offline and before Covid-19. I also don't need most of the pages like weekly or even daily spreads during the semester break. And I totally get why bullet journaling isn't for everyone. I only got into it with my second try. It also really takes time to create the spreads and try things out etc. but I actually like that. It's self-care for me, sitting down and getting my thoughts and tasks, etc on paper and also taking the time to make things look nice.
I keep my immediate TBR/book I'm reading on my desk so they're always in reach. Books I want to read soon, I have on a separate TBR cart so that I can keep track of them but not feel overwhelmed. I use Goodreads as well to catalogue what I'm currently reading and what I've read, but I also use an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet tracks my reading monthly and has star ratings, different identity representations I'm trying to track and be mindful of, the target age for a group, etc.
Omg. I was just catching up on booktube videos. I didn't know that I was going to be mentioned here. You are the kindest, and your support really means the world. 🥺
I truly do not know how many times i have whatched this video over time. It just gives me so much peace of mind. We vibe with this energy ~~ I live, cannot put into words how much i enjoy this video
So I have a currently reading of 2-4 books at any given time. Those are either on my desk, nightstand, bag, etc. My very short list(next 2 owned books) I keep on my desk. Then for owned books tbr I keep that on one particular shelf that I know that those books are on my list. For unowned tbr of books I either will buy or borrow I use story graph, while it is still in beta I don't want to support amazon. To track my reading I have like 3-4 methods. First and foremost is an annual Spreadsheet where I track books, graphic novels, and comics and date finished. As well as author stats - mostly as last year I realized I read a lot of north american and British authors who primarily were white, so I wanted to read more/different voices and support people who can't always get published easily. Second I use my bullet journal(also how I organize being a student, but mine is very basic) which just has a list of books read and finish date- I also have a spread for if I hear of something that seems interesting while I"m out and about I write it down there. Then again I use story graph, but since its still in beta it doesn't have everything yet. Finally I have a notebook that kinda functions as a less formal review/thoughts place where I write down 2 pages of notes/quotes/whatever on every book I read. Is this overly complicated? Yes. Does it work for me? Also yes
Thank you for sharing how you stay organized. While I’m no longer a student, but I lived and died by the OneNote and Notability apps for my reading heavy courses. They didn’t help as much for my major classes, which were math and physics focused. For my reading, I use goodreads and a spreadsheet. I got the original spreadsheet from Fadwa at WordWonders and modified it to fit my needs. Being able to visualize my reading habits in the form of pie charts and bar graphs really helps to keep me accountable when it comes to my reading goals.
I hear you talking about your organization's journey, and I couldn't relate more! Especially about being bisexual and thriving from chaos hahaha I also use Notion massively! I used to bullet journal, and I think this is the reason why I like Notion, I can kind of recreate my journal in it, and at the same time, it's ridiculously quicker to set up. I'm trying to transition from paper to digital, which is pretty fucking difficult. I get things done much more effectively when I jot them down. P.S.: Just loved the mug
I have a TBR stack that I keep on the end table in my reading nook! It doesn’t make the table super useful, but watching it dwindle over the month is super satisfying. 🗡
I'm watching this video in December - because online class is hell and Christmas break is the only time I can indulge in hobbies - but I was checking the description and I found an Anti Terror Bill website in there and MY HEART SOARED BECAUSE THE PHILIPPINES IS A RIGHT MESS RIGHT NOW SO THANK YOU FOR SPREADING AWARENESS IN THE WAYS YOU CAN OH MY GOD YOU HAVE A NEW SUB
I have a bookish bullet journal to log when I read books, star ratings, goals, dnfs and write reviews as well as my physical tbr at the beginning of every year
Love the September cleaning, I unhauled 3 bags of books last weekend and it felt so good and I'm going to go through as I reorganize my bookshelves now to be sure there's not anything else I don't want on there and to make a solid tbr pile. :)
I'm starting college in the spring and I don't know how I'll organize my reading in that time when this time is already so chaotic, but I've been keeping notes on what I read on my Word documents for the past two years and it's fun but definitely needs an upgrade but I haven't felt the need to do it yet as it still works and if I don't look at my goodreads, then it doesn't need to be fixed🤣🤣 I've actually been looking at a swordsmith account that I found last year at a ren faire so I can save up for a regular dagger or a Katana, there was an Elven Longsword too! 🗡
for college i’d highly recommend onenote if you want something simple and oriented towards the type of notes you take in college. i put all my readings in there as pdfs and take notes on there as well
@@mackenzie3009 I've been using Onenote for planning a future booktube channel but never thought of using it for school🤦🏻♀️ Thank you! That really helps and I'll probably start the templates tonight too because it gave me a bunch of ideas!
Although, I'm no longer in school, my job and kids have made me organize so I can prioritize. I have found that digital and bullet journaling keeps me organized with my books. Good luck in school! 😊❤️❤️❤️
These were such great tips! I’m honestly not a super organized person but I love seeing people’s organizational routines 😄 I’m a mood reader so I usually have a tentative tbr that I’m not too strict on unless it’s an ARC or something for a book tour ☺️ I use a physical planner and a dry erase calendar that’s plastered on my wall to remind me of deadlines 🗡⚔️
I am currently using an excel sheet set up to track my time and how much time it takes me to complete activities. I am the same as you. I've been finding that a digital method of tracking organization works better than a physical one because the upkeeping it more than I want to do. As for my goodreads. I have never bothered about organizing my tbr list into categories until I joined youtube. With all the readathons, it has made it interesting to find things. My tbr list is LONG because I keep all the books I want to read as well as recommendations I have received on it.
I was such a disorganized student 😩 and for books I use goodreads mostly, even though I'd rather not give amazon my ad real estate monies, but I love that I can personalize the shelves so that I have 3 levels of to read piles, which differentiate what I have in my possession and what I'm not sure about but want to keep on my radar. I think I want to try out notion!
*pause* Yes, I have been on here searching how I could use Notion to write my book reviews as I want to do more of that in 2021 and actually remember what I read. And here you are WITH prompts!! OK so I need to build mine just like you did and then watch your Poppy War Vlog because I am reading that next month! *resumes video*
Such a great video! I appreciate you very much & your camera presence is quite captivating! I love it here. . . So many great useful tips & I took a ton of notes. I am certainly looking forward to applying a few tips to my reading life. ⚔️ 💕
I basically organize my whole life in a moleskin notebook! It’s like bullet journaling, but very stripped down. I set yearly, monthly, and weekly goals and sometimes make daily to do lists when I’m busier. I use watercolor pens to highlight the lists, a different color every month! And I keep track of the books I read that year, the shows and movies I watched, in a list in the front. :)
Yessss, I fully agree with a good spring cleaning. I usually unhaul 2 stars and lower automatically with 3 stars being the hardest to figure out. I like how you use Notion, I've been thinking on checking it out but have yet to make the jump. I organize my books with google spreadsheets, as the userability allows for easily customizable sheets.
I would loveeee more info on how you organize your reading on notions but currently I use my notes app for books I want to buy (in the near future), goodreads for what I've read/want to read, then bookly for what im currently reading
i love how you're starting your third year of uni and are super organised and i am starting my third year too and just read whenever i want to which for some reason is always during midterms and finals... i really do be ignoring my tbr the rest of the year for no reason :/
I have a TBR basket and a lending library basket, they serve the same purpose as your IKEA Raskog cart. For fun, you might check out the Facebook group called “Pimp my Raskog” where people share photos of how they use there carts. It is amusing, and has over 30K members. I will check out the Notion app, I am retired and finally a full time student, so I am looking for ways to organize digitally. My digital desktop is just a mess. New subscriber, you represent more diversity on booktube.
i’m also going into my third year of university although i’m in scotland so it’s not my final year but you honestly seem wayyy more organised that me lmao (also zebra mildliners >>>>>>)
this was so inspiring! i just started online class and as much as i love journaling and planning on paper, i always have a ton of half empty notebooks at the end which is so frustrating. i've had my eye on notion for the longest time and you pushed me to finally give it a go and i basically organized everything after watching your video. ❤️
I use an app called reading list to organize my reading. I can rate, write notes, and categorize all my books. My favorite feature is that it will tell me how many days it took to read, which always motivates me to finish the book quicker!
This is the first video i watched of you and i thank you for supporting filipinos’ freedom of speech by making space in your description on opposing the abusive Anti Terror Bill. Although it is now a law, we are still fighting and i hope you will continue your support 💖🇵🇭
For my school i use a simple calendar on my wall, i usually annotate the tasks and subjects i have to study on each day (according to my disponibility and level of laziness 😂), i make sure it’s on pencil so i get to change if i want to. On pen, i write the deadlines of the tasks and tests. It’s been working really well for me, but im definitely gonna check out notion, i loved your recommendations!!
Also use a separate monthly tbr shelf! l love watching it go down through the month, even if i don't get to them all, it's a nice visual to know how much I've read. Very interested in checking out notion! Also a 3rd year university student, and a MESS lol
the organisation, the pretty, omg! I'm organised but it's very much plain spreadsheets. I don't tend to prettify things until they're printed out on paper
LOVED TO SEE THIS!! ♡ i've been using notion for around two years now, and it's a life saviour - and i'm constantly changing its layout to make the most out of it XD I can't wait for my classes to start, so i can update my academics page. I wouldn't want to get a TBR cart, but I'm definitely thinking about putting them all in one shelf together, to manage it better. And I'll be participating in goodreadance2020, can't wait to organize everything!!
Good luck in third year and with your dissertation! I’ve just started a masters after a few years off so I have been scrambling to get myself organised and remember how to use my brain 😅 I am in love with Notion too!
I loved this video so much. I love being organized and seeing the way that you did really helped. I too keep a physical calendar as well as a digital one. I had never heard of Notion, but I am definitely checking it out. I also never thought to make a youtube video about how I stay organized but I just might borrow that idea from you. My favorite blade is a dagger. 🗡
thank you so much for bringing notion to my attention!! id never heard of it before and it just looks perfect for organising! (instead of having approximately 467547537 different notes and documents lmao) also YES i love a physical calendar!! i also use a white board for my weekly to list at uni (colour coded of course 😂) and it's SO SATISFYING getting to erase all the horrible assignments when im done!! 🗡🗡
This video was super helpful I need to try out notion as a fellow booktuber and returning to uni soon 😅I have such a love-hate relationship with goodreads haha x
I've spent hours playing with Notion this weekend and there are so many things I can use it for. Thank you for mentioning it, not sure if I'd tried it otherwise!
Aahhh cross-posting is such a good idea, I hadnt thought of that (and I dont know why😂). Also YES finally, "no point keeping books you dont like", I am the biggest advocate of this, love a good bookshelf purge.
Really want to try out notion now. I use a bullet journal and at times also a physical calendar. But all my uni notes are gathered in one notebook and just colour coded after course, which is turning out quite messy 😅 🗡️
So at the moment I've got a full time job (40 hours a week), I'm studying an NVQ level 3 to progress in my career, and I'm a reader (who is just starting out on UA-cam). I feel like I basically only have weekends to get anything done bc I have to commute into London every day for work (about an hour or so each way). Currently I'm kind of struggling to get into a routine. Lol. :/
how do i organize? big stack of books that i own on the bottom, lil stack of books that i'm currently borrowing on the top. or the library books are just strewn about my room ~ o r g a n i z a t i o n ~ 🗡️
🗡⚔️✨ thank you so much for sharing this!!! I’ve never heard of Notion... and now I can’t wait to dive into another form of organization. Aaahhh, I love organizing! 🙈😍😅
As student I struggle a lot with my recreational reading, like it is impossible for me to find time or have the interest and energy to read a book. If i do readings once uni starts, it is mostly audiobooks.🤣 Also, i wanna recommend to you this readathon,BLACK-OWEEN-ATHON, i think you will like the idea.
I love your aesthetic so much!! Good luck with your dissertation, I know you’ll do great!! ✌🏻 This inspired me to get my shit together a little bit lmao

I have the same thing. Someone recommended me to read for less time like 30 minutes before sleeping instead of more.
Booktuber plus studytuber is everythinggggg. Go for it!

Thank you Joel for this refreshing video! Motivating me to do some spring cleaning!☀️❤❤🙌
This video was super helpful I need to try out notion as a fellow booktuber and returning to uni soon 😅I have such a love-hate relationship with goodreads haha x
yessss! been waiting for the notion video for so long 😍
hello u posted junk terror bill & as a filipino, i rly appreciate it! u earned a sub! 💛
I've spent hours playing with Notion this weekend and there are so many things I can use it for. Thank you for mentioning it, not sure if I'd tried it otherwise!
Ok I really needed this video you have no idea 😭
Sting! Also this was such a gorgeous video to sit and watch and see how others use Notion:)
I organize my books and reading via bookmarks, colored code them by have not started, finished and in progress
This is going to be so useful since I start my first year of Uni in 2 weeks!!
Aahhh cross-posting is such a good idea, I hadnt thought of that (and I dont know why😂). Also YES finally, "no point keeping books you dont like", I am the biggest advocate of this, love a good bookshelf purge.
Notion looks amazing - I wish I'd known about it for my degrees! Gonna have to start using it for books and other routines !
I'm so glad you made this video lmaooo I LOVE notion but I don't have the creative genius required to make it look aesthetically pleasing 😂😂
shealea's blog!!! omg
okay you're really making me want to read poppy wars 🤪
Yeees, another video. We are so blessed to see your lovely smile more frequently!!!
i loved this video so much!! notion is such an amazing organizational tool and I'm so happy to see that you use it too!
Ooooh I hadn't heard of Notion before, but now I really want to use it!
Lol. :/
how do i organize? big stack of books that i own on the bottom, lil stack of books that i'm currently borrowing on the top. or the library books are just strewn about my room
~ o r g a n i z a t i o n ~ 🗡️
Yes for organization! 😍 I’ll have to check out Notion cause wowwww 🙌🏽
the video I didn’t know I needed
i literally subbed after watching this... ur new video came out at the exact same time when i subbed hehe
If i do readings once uni starts, it is mostly audiobooks.🤣
Also, i wanna recommend to you this readathon,BLACK-OWEEN-ATHON, i think you will like the idea.
I love your aesthetic so much!! Good luck with your dissertation, I know you’ll do great!! ✌🏻 This inspired me to get my shit together a little bit lmao
i love these vibes
i'd love to see your series page once you develop it further
Oh my gosh, the feels. What will be the topic of your dissertation? I’ll be writing my BA thesis in little over a month 😱
3:52 "Omg this book DJFDJFJDJFDJFJDJFJF" *mood*
WHOOP i’m early! thanks so much for this😭 i’m gonna be in my 3rd year on the 28th i need to get my self together
I use Goodreads and Story Graph. It I am more on Goodreads as I prefer working from the app than on a website like with Story Graph
If I start bullet journaling again I would only ever design the page and never fill it in because aesthetic 😂💙
Thank you for this video!! Super helpful to a newbie ❤️❤️❤️
i’m a simple woman, i see The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo in the thumbnail and i click.
