It wasn’t “people” blankety denying Amara her culture and heritage, it was two specific NonBlack Latinos, who went on to lie about bein Black when they were confronted by the BLACK cast of varying nationalities.
And Jett Jeff isn’t Black, so he can’t be part of the Afro Latino community, just like he ain’t a part of AfAm communities, not any other ethnicity or nationality of Black community. He has an obvious NonBlack Latino fan-base (which is obvious from the events he’s performed at and the audience in attendance) and an arsenal of songs that are literal copy/paste appropriations of AAVE.
And it very much does matter what you look like because if that wasn’t the matter NonBlack people wouldn’t actively work so diligently as they do to erase Black peoples from the roots of our culture but also this globe.

So many things wrong with the catering incident. First and foremost, the menu should've been discussed, so that the caterer knows what their costs will be (and advocate for a budget). Secondly, they should've had a contract so the deliverables are clear, even if it is an unpaid gig. Third, a new business should go to bigger brands who have event donations allocated into their budgets instead of another small business. This was half assed on both parties.

Prejudice universally runs rampant and it disappoints me when I see and experience Black peoples enact it against anyone (cause it’s not just a race thing), but truthfully NonBlack people sit comfortably within Black spaces and rarely have that prejudice flip instantly into physical hate and violence against them.
And I say all that to say, it’s clear this cast has prejudices, but if you go back and watch Jett’s performances- across this and last season -you can see he doesn’t have a Black following. His audience be NonBlack Latinos and the only Black people there are cast members. It’s on tape clear as day. So this cast def holds prejudices but they also still support him and don’t let those prejudices influence them not to.

JC and Marquis annoyed me with their issue. I have friends in the music scene (mainly jazz/classical) and none of them would be okay with getting "paid" in exposure. Only newbies and people not confident in their craft would do something for free (very few exceptions of course), just being honest. I will forever regret doing a 40hr/wk unpaid summer internship when I was in college 🤦🏾♂️😂 If Marquis is a celebrity chef, then surely he is established enough to be getting paid for his services. Small/new business owners, if you can't pay people what they deserve (which includes paying your employees a living wage), then maybe being a business owner (or having extravagant events) isn't for you. MORE IMPORTANTLY... to people like Marquis, you set the tone for what you're worth, so if you're okay with doing services for free, then maybe that's what you deserve. It sort of reminds of when people get on these shows for free, but once they fall out with production, they want to complain about now getting paid 😅 I'm in teaching and our salaries are public record, which means I know what I'm getting paid before even getting the job, so why would I complain once I get the job 🤷🏾♂️
