You MUST keep the WRX exhaust! It sounds great.
If you need the towbar, I recommend don't modify the exhaust, have a metal shop, mechanic,or even farm/agri place modify the towbar beam. It is easy and will be plenty strong enough to replace the tube with some plate that curves over the exhaust.
You probably need to cut the bumper also because that exhaust tip is much bigger and needs to lift higher.

Man, i buyed a forester case of you, my dream car was a Impreza 98, but after find your channel cople years ago, forester become part of family, here in Brazil is very dificult to creat a project for those cars

Definitely get it modified by a professional! And as others have mentioned getting unequal length headers will really top the sound off! When I put UEL headers on my foz it gave it a deeper tone and there was less drone at higher speeds.
Oh that's interesting ! Because the drone at high speed is killing me 😅 But I feel like UEL headers are complicated to find around here. Thanks my friend ✌️
I too love that throaty sound, but I also think that it depends on wheather you can get your ground clearance back by getting a good welder to custom fit it.
I wouldn't want to lose much, if any ground clearance in the prosses. Just my opinion.

Yes ! As you said it also impact the ground clearance, we can see the tube is too low compared to stock. The ground clearance isn't actually an issue on this Foz but it's more esthetics and also to get a proper fitment and do things correctly. I might get a quote from a welder. I think it sounds good but may be too much drone on the highway. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of options for NA. Some of the cheaper parts store mufflers are throatier sounding than OEM.
I'm putting a UEL header onto mine but not sure what I will do with the rest of the exhaust yet. Want some rumble but stay quiet.

Ill recomend , replace original exhaust pipe with stainless steel, same size pipe as what you fitted "50"?" and throw cats out, in cats area i just fitted a short narrow freeflow box to mine. " so you have the same size pipe from back to your down pipes.
I just build my own freeflow box at back with a much smaller box, more space and less weight, those original size boxes are mammoths.

Yes the UEL headers is THE mod to get a proper Subaru rumble ! But I was truly impressed by how "Subaru rumbly" it's sound with just the cat back !
Don't go unequal, go wider pipe, but stay equal, will give you a longer live on engine.
@@wiandeklerk6450 I heard pretty much everything about UEL headers from they are good to they are bad with less hp 😅

You need a set of UELs and it will sound awesome :D I have a 4 to 1 uel headers on my GF8 NA impreza and it picked up a lot of power in mid-high revs. The stock headers are just useless, the way they connect in to one pipe is very bad. The pipe comming from the passenger side of the engine block half of the other pipe comming from the driver side, creating a obstruction.

For sf5’s I think we can use the 97-05 Impreza Rs 2.5 n/a header .
Question for you, why didn’t you use the new mid pipe that came with the new exhaust?

Exhaust doesn't give it more hp you need to combine it with a tune just saying i know youre not really care about hp but after all i like youre channel and like the subies bro

Je suis vraiment tiraillé... J'adore sur les trajets courts, quand je suis tout seul mais sur l'autoroute ou a plusieurs c'est un peu relou... Mais clairement je veux toujours un truc qui ronronne maintenant ahaha

@@ALNSMOVERLAND I don't like that it doesn't fit without modification. Is it the same diameter as stock? If it's larger, then it probably will sit lower. It might drone on the freeway. So, it's really cost/benefit which turns me off. A) you pay for the muffler B) you pay to fit it right (if possible), all in exchange for nothing, but the sound that in the end might not sound right under certain circumstances. I might be getting old, but less is more for me these days. Love your channel!
