If there was two identical Escort Cosworths for the same price Which one would you buy?
1st car is an original road car
2nd car is an ex-police car
Original road car for me
Police car
Police Car 👍
@Geoffbuyscars has done a couple of good videos on the Cosworths
Original road car all day
Original all day
Looks like a money pit and a relationship breaker 😂😂😂
I might bid i need to get rid of the Mrs
Easier to find a bird than a escort cosworth 🙈
@@davidsneddon3758easier to find a bird in a escort cosworth lol
Well worth it then £200 Grand soon.
@@davidsneddon3758 depending who owns the house 😂😂😂
Don't touch it with a barge pole.
Definitely bid
It's probably had 3 engines 4 gearboxes 6 wings 2 bonnets and a back end. Personally I'd let it go.
Triggers broom 🤣
@@cornovii3012 Not unusual for a pursuit car hence missing VIN tags
@@cornovii3012 six new mop heads an ten new handles 😂
Imagine having all three in the garage 🎉
Plus that engine sitting on the stand would drop in lovely
The holy trinity indeed
Why would it have its reg changed? I reckon the last person that bought it realised it was way, way too much work.
It's still the same basket case you looked at a while ago, just because someone bolted bits back on. I'd steer clear, it's had a hard life!
All the more reason to save it if you got the funds, space and time
Yes! Please restore it back to cop spec and original reg number. That would be absolutely epic and so much content for the channel!
"It's a bit too much work for me" says the man rebuilding a sight unseen cosworth engine 😁
😂😂
Adam this would blow your channel up even further!!
If you check the finances and think that it won’t strangle you financially, get it bought 👍🏼
Keep the your 3door send the saf down the road, what a line up your white 3door and a white escort cossie 🤩
Don’t buy it now. You chose not to for a reason. Now some chancer has been at it and clashed it back together so it looks better than it is, hoping to return a profit at auction, hopefully by someone bidding blind who hasn’t viewed it.
Forget it. It’s a right old dog.
This times 100, it’s an absolute dog the amount of hours to get it back to a decent state simply not worth it ( plus trying to find all the hard to find bits would be an expensive nightmare) . You’d end up with a restored dog with no history dubious early life ( was it ever even used as a liveried up cop car
Maybe not?) just not worth the effort. It’s like these ropy cars you seen on copart come back in still unfinished but they just hid all the nasty bits with some basic repaneling to make it look worth fixing. It’s a horrible example. Great video though love your channel especially the bits with PL and the 500’s keep it up!
restoring that would be a nightmare.. too many people already been playing with it
There's not that much to them really is there. I defo wouldn't say a nightmare.

Adam that car has simply been doctored to make it look more complete, so much wrong with it , it really would need to be super cheap to make it viable
probably lots of hidden rot in the front windscreen pillars and rear boot floor. There’s lots of unique parts to escos on these things which are either expensive or unobtainable
The fact they have 2 different registrations should be a giveaway it’s not the same car
If you run the reg, it's had the current plate put on.
These are worth serious money once restored as not many were made as rapid response cars.
What a beautiful motor mate who ever buys this as a project and brings it back to its originalalty will be one proud owner, I remember when the police had the Sierra sapphire cosworth both beautiful cars mate.
I’d be contemplating buying the blue Bedford beside it. That Cossie engine you’re restoring would be awesome in it 😂
Where there is one bit of rot you can see there will be more you cannot see,it has never been a race car, just a demo car for police to look at,i think the you are going to need deep pockets to get this back looking and running as it should. Would be nice to see where it's been since being sold by ford,i always worry about buying cars that have been passed about and messed about with, the vin plates being missing, the number plate being different just seems strange.
that needs to be restored back as a plod car. We had one in Doncaster in 1995 it was from Humbersides stolen vehicle unit. We had it here for a while. 1995 M reg, motorsport spec, no sunroof, no fogs, fixed rear side windows, no front splitter, OZ wheels and it had rally suspension lifted about 2 inch.
Amy, we're gonna need a bigger garage!
Ive said that a few times already 😂
Buy it! Your channel is big enough for people to offer help with restoring this mate
15 years ago I'd say have a go on it. In today's world with rare parts and hoarder prices being absolute bonkers, that and the time and money to rebuild something like this I'd stay well away and put the money into your 3dr and your family and enjoy yourself, before the government sets in with more restrictions.
That was probably the best idea make it into a rally car with the amount of parts what are missing. It defo needs bare shelling & blasting for a start
Nothing is ever simple 😂 thanks for the video ❤
Lots of potential in this car but it does need a complete strip down and rebuild from the ground up. Not a job for the faint hearted and will take a fair bit of time and money. It does need saving though.
You have to give a go. Love to see you fixing that. Your channel is awesome one of only few I really look forward to watching. But the money there going for these days can’t see that going cheap.
Well - you've certainly buggered up the sale of that ould doll!😒
Would be an amazing shot with the Escort behind your Sierra when the Escort is a cop car once again and with an headline like: Little brother chasing big brother.! Awsome video as always 👍
Yes, bid and stream the auction live.
You've got to get the full set Adam!
Nope, more trouble than it’s worth.
I trust by giving out the auction date you're not bothering Adam, shame though would be 1 hell of a project for 2023 into 2024 content wise...
I saw this car today aswell Adam. Looked solid enough (for an old escort) but needed plenty of work. I think the other one was a gti
Not watched it Adam, but with your desire and passion for Cossies, I'd say bid what you can afford. If you get it, great, if not then keep looking, I'm sure you'll find one. Its better than trying to buy a shell (like you asked about a few months ago) and build one from there.
Leave it well alone unless your putting a new engine in, its an ex rapid response car, its been ragged silly like a council estate single mum.
To be fair they all have. most of these "restored" cars are like trigger broom
😂😂
Id love to see the videos on this mate. If it feels right go for it 👍
Thats a proper ringer
Buy it!!!! Then build an extension on your lovely garage!!! Love watching your videos one of my favourites on UA-cam buddy 👍👍👍
Yes!!! Get bidding
Only thing is the number plates don't match up
Adam definitely buy it perfect for your engine build
I’ll be honest, I think this car would be too much of a challenge for just an enthusiast, a professional restoration company would need to get their hands on it in my opinion
Go for it mate ! It would be superb content.
I owned a 76 ‘ mk2 escort’ex police’. You’d be surprised how much better that old girl was built. It’s now a group 4 rally car’ the strength in the steel was far better than showroom cars to private buyers.
No walk away
I believe it being a ex-police car makes it rather special & probably a little more valuable.
Wow it would definitely go well with your other Cosworth adam
23k for that shed is bonkers, it wasnt many years ago i bought my K plate big turbo lux with 16k miles from new and in flawless condition for less than that.
I’d put the original plate back on the car but I wouldn’t put all the police stickers back on it there’s some stunning cars in that garage I had a fiesta xr2i it was gray with a illuminance green stripe around the whole car
You have to buy it Adam ! Yes it would take a time to put back to normal but you have to have all three in your garage
I can remember seeing a q plate one on the a1 near the metro center many years
It's deffo a sign.. In white and on your door step.. Be easier to find another woman surely..
If she does leave there's no1 stopping you putting a garage door where the living room window is then either 😂
I’m intrigued by if you should have bought it on the drive. I suspect it will run higher at auction. Maybe you missed the boat??
There’s a channel that’s tracked all the ex police escort cosworth cars on you tube. All had loads of engines but a couple had a charmed life.
It's at £19250 atm with a day to go. Guide is 22 to 28 plus buyers commision @7.5%
They look so good in white with white wheels!
Depends how much it goes for I guess. It needs a lot of work, if you can pick it up cheap and are prepared for what you might find then sure, yeah, go for it. Also depends on what your plan is, with its questionable history it will never be a top dollar car so as an investment it's probably a terrible idea, but if you just want a cheap Cossie to punt around then it's ideal. I'd probably complete the rally conversion and go that path, as an original car it's already useless but it would be pretty handy as a historic rally car.
No VIN tags or floor number, then walk away. DVLA will be aware of this car now due to the publicity. I would recon the new owner may have to try and prove every detail about the car for it not to end up as a "Q" plate.
It has a floor number as he said in the video. Vin plates are included with the car and all match the clear HPI
"I'm going to see it, I'm going to buy it, I'm sorry" Thanks Adam, I think many of us have been there mate with the preemptive apology.
Go on lad bid for that machine
Look good in Ur cossy collection
100% get it bought lad
Brings back memories!!! I suspect this is going to be at least top estimate, if not into the low 30s. It needs a lot of work yeah but its not too far gone. Bare shell restoration by someone in the game is going to be pretty easy. Thats who will buy it IMHO, someone with the skills and equipment to put this back to road spec. I reckon this will be for sale in a couple of years for £80k.. LOL. As for it being police, the fact it was a demo is actually a good thing. Back in the day (I am ex police) the demo cars would often spend most of their time at the driving schools. The instructors would take the cars out and put the cars through their paces. They occasionally were released for general patrol but you have to remember only advanced police drivers could drive something like this - so your regular bobby with his standard police ticket could not drive it, but a traffic unit would get these sorts of cars for maybe a week or two at the most. Back when I was in the police we had all sorts of cars come in on demo and you would never actually get your hands on them - or very rarely. The rare times they went into the traffic unit (which I was in) they always seemed to get pranged!! It was a PR disaster so every time something happened and a car ended upside down in a field the bosses would not let us have anything again. When I was in we had a lot of ford stuff Sierra Cosworths, Mondeo ST24s and RS2000s. We also had a few fast Vauxhalls. As soon as the Subaru WRX came out in about 1994 they were all pointless!! We could not keep up and by 2000 ish we had WRXs. At the time they seemed like rocket ships but now looking back they were actually pretty slow! How times change. Anyway, I vote for buy it and return to cop-spec.
Might pop along to the auction and have a nosey. 👍
Wouldn't touch it, tarted up to make £££ for auction. Be a real rotten money pit.
Could you see gearbox in the tunnel? They only have what’s in the boot mate
You should go for this Adam, i would do exactly the same as you (return it back to standard and put it's original plate on it, and ideal project for you and Paul Linfoot
Juat been up to look at it myself mate doesn't look too bad like had a bit of graft already done
I remember them back in the day and realised that they couldn't follow if u went over the curb hence why the cav4x4 turbo used to get away
I wouldn’t even know where to start with that 😂
Think you should buy it mate love to see it on the channel
Would love to see this on the channel
Think your gonna need a bigger garage Adam 😜 uv got the backing of ur channel mate u know u want it 😜
"too much when I was younger" Adam I'm in exactly the same boat mate 😂 I'd leave this motor alone. Where's the vins?
I am wondering If it’s a Ford demo and it’s possible a very early 1 they shortened the sierra by 2 feet and dropped a escort shell on it that would be why the wiring loom has been shortened no vin it’s looking very possible the original prototype was white Adam I would get Paul to inspect it and see if it is
Jacko from Barnsley, for the amount of money you’ll spend on it, you could buy a nicer standard road car cheeRS adam.
Arh man theyve got some great motors for auction......love the capri and the xr2 rs turbos etc.
As far as ypu biddin......where you gunna keep it as the sierras already take up the garage?that bulkheads been made a right mess too and who knows what lurks behind those fibre glass wings......
Definitely bid on that !! Now your saph is at a stage where it’s nearly finished move it on and let this be the next project
They had a escort cosworth at alnwick police station when I was a kid remember looking at it all the time
Had a sierra cosworth as well
there's a cosworth engine in Newark around the 1 k mark no ecu
Lots covered up.. Depends on the auction interest, mints go for 50k+ now, maybe an investment.. pick it apart as much as yer can.👌
I believe the police cars had a slightly different body shell from the road cars. Ford gave them the wrc body shells because the were strengthened in certain places to help cope with the hard life they had.
Group N Kits only I was told?
Too right, get it bought and striped up
You should bid on the car, you know more about it than anyone else. Give it a good home.
I liked the red ones, & red rs turbos... the good old days
100% get on that
Cool story behind it but I think if you want a escort there's better candidates for you , this would need striped to bare shell to get it back to the standard you would want it , better suited to someone with there own workshop/ garage business.
I tell you what Adam lad I'd love to see that car in your possession and on your channel getting fixed up. But I fear it would be an endless money pit mate? But if anyone can put that car back on the road it's going to be you!!! Good luck Adam lad. From John 👍🙂👍
Either of the Escort Cosworths would do me when you take the private bus late off of the car the original reg would automatically be assigned to it,
Thinking about it the police car even though it need a lot of work, but because of the history that it has would be the one I would take on
I seen what i think was this car jump a humpback bridge as a police car in he early 90's in cumbria... was well known or an ECOS police car was in the area. Apparently was group N Spec
please buy this car mate love your content this would help your channel grow hugely all the best 👍
You owe it to your subscribers Adam, also it could make you a UA-cam millionaire, how can it possibly go wrong.
He owes it to his subscribers 😂 what a bellend you are lol
Ref Missing VIN tags, I used to be in Collision Repair equipment, one customer in the north used to repair the counties Police cars, The owner showed me a 2 year old pursuit vehicle that was in for a complete front end replacement, I commented it's a big job, he said its the 4th time its been in for the same thing so they were pretty quick at turning them around by now...
Unlike the service records the collision repairs were not documented or done through insurance companies, so even Car Vertical would be useless with these types of vehicles.
I think you made the right choice back then, let go again and concentrate on current projects, your Escort Cossie is out there still, you just haven't found it yet 😉
Bid on it Adam
Adam what watch are you wearing it looks really nice and I’d definitely go with the original road car over the ex-police car
A lot of people think if it's an ex cop car then it's going to be good. They do get serviced constantly, but they get absolutely thrashed.
Smells of bacon insides though
Considering these go for £60k to £160k depending on the condition. This will go for around £30k to £40k for sure. There was money to be made at the £23k it was originally up for.
Estimate at auction is 22k to 28k. I think 32k. Suprized it hasn't ended up with a Q plate. It still might at the end of the day.
Get the RS turbo in front 👍
Definitely! 😁👍
Silver Xr2 is totally unrestored car same as the fiesta RS Turbo. Both cars are very good mates cant belive you havent seen these 2 out and about in sunderland Adam.
Adam iv just been on there web site forget the cosworth get the ICE CREAM VAN 😂
