My wife and I just purchased a new travel trailer and are planning to go south for the winter. I have been watching a lot of videos on RVing to try and avoid the beginner mistakes. I want to thank you for all the help, your channel and just a couple of others seems have the most usable information and you present it in a entertaining way that is fun to watch. Thanks again.
I have used the app GasBuddy for getting gasoline for our vehicle. I plan out our stops for gas before we leave our site. It really helps to be able to check the prices ahead of time.
We have been playing around with RV Trip Wizard for a little bit. We are not traveling at this point but I love researching. Happy to hear Phil is getting better. Lou & Angie
Just a suggestion! When you put the plumbers tape on for the water heater you need to put it on in reverse. That way when you screw it back in the tape tightens up better. It’s confusing I know. Watch a video on how to put plumbers tape on if not understanding. Love watching your videos. Be safe!!
Thank you! We love watching you. Not only are you our style of people, but your rig is similar and your travel style is the same too. Only thing is we’re not into alcohol or golf... but that’s okay! When we need advise specific to our style or our rig, we check your videos. (Most of our other fav channels have 5th wheels and plan way in advance). So once again, thank you!
Thank you for another great video. Stacey you are such an impressive and virtuous woman. We continue to keep Phil in our prayers and hopping for a full recovery soon.
A small clarification. Almost all of the host locations for BW and HH are private property. The difference is actually commercial (HH) versus non-commercial (BW). There are, however, a few locations that participate in both programs.
For GAS RVs, the Gas Buddy app works well. I like the mapping capability to find stations. Just plug in what your want to buy, such as REGULAR 87 octane, and the map populates the map with all the gas stations nearby, with a price. Invaluable tool for GAS, similar to EFS for diesels.
I'm 100% disable Vet. and I will be purchasing hopefully a Accessibility Enhance RV. I want to say thank you Phil for your service. I want to know if I can join todayissomeday.net if I don't have my RV yet Also thank you Stacy for your great videos/blogs you put out. Good JOB
Leaving today on a two week trip from San Diego to MS and return. This is our first major trip in our new rig. Will get these apps and use them. You couldn’t have posted this video at a more opportune time. Love your channel! A BIG THANKS from an AF Vet.
If it is scorching hot like in the south, if you don’t have a generator, would you stay at a harvest host or boondocks welcome? Definitely need ac to sleep at night. Traveling with a Fifth Wheel
Oh I am not going to say anything about the ____ on the ____. I carry a lot of those and I know when one is ______. So I always double check before I cover up. You did gooooood.
Re the socket left up with the AC, ROFLMAO!!!!! I love it. I LOVE it!!!! Gonna be so funny to see if Phil watches the video or reads the comments and notices. LOL
Be mindful a few northern states said they would do as texas a few months ago. If you arrive from a covid-19 hot spot you would have to quarintine for 30 days. Probably slow your trip down a bit
For some reason, this video reminds me of a time my grandmother and mom were going somewhere in Grandma and Grandpa’s pickup. The truck had a homemade canopy. Grandma got a little close to something and broke a chunk out of the corner of the canopy roof. She very hurriedly got a piece of the roof material, cut it to fit, installed it and painted it, to keep grandpa from noticing. I only heard about it because my mom was a witness.
I have been playing with Trip Wizard a bit, but one thing I don't like about it is that all the icons for campgrounds are the same. I really like the AllStays App because COE parks, State Parks, etc. have different icons and I don't have to look at every campground to find my preferred ones. I also like the trip planning tool in RV Parky. That is currently my go to app for trip planning. Very user friendly. Also, I have been trying to use the EFS App price locator but all it does is try to load and it never does. I may be doing something wrong and need to delete and reload or something. Glad Phil is recovering nicely. We just took delivery of our new Tiffin last week and are looking forward to hitting the road.
The icons are not the same on RVT. State parks are brown, COE is red with castles, etc. Has it been a while since you logged on? I have also used many of the apps you are talking about as well. Also, the RV Fuel Savings program is working on their own app. It should be out soon without all the EFS bugs!
Sound more accurate than my method, a map (now it’s Google maps instead of Rand McNalley) & um, oh, a calendar. Last big trip I also used a book ‘Artisan Cheeses Across Canada’ or something like that. Unfortunately we waited 10 yrs to use it for a trip. Anyways, I will check to see which ones suit our type of travel. Thanks!
Check out Alsatian RV Resort in Castroville, TX. It is an awesome place to park for a bit. The Casita has a full bathroom with a walk in shower....and it's is air conditioned. The outside has a great outdoor kitchen area, grill, sink and fridge.
love that high and tight but through much of my naval service I was a rebel and pushed the envelope of hair styles. Glad that you are doing well, and keep traveling.
This is one of the most ADD videos lol - you guys are awesome! Thanks for the tools. Stacy please do a deep dive and show us how you do it as you plan a trip! I would love that!
I did. See if this is what you are looking for: blog.todayissomeday.net/2019/08/03/rv-trip-planning-tips-step-by-step/#.XwpzeS2z2L8 I have changed my style a little bit but it is basically the same.
The most direct answer is: No. The cost to convert is so.....Just, no. Convert isn't even a good word. The word is replace. On top of that, if you have a generator...well you're going to have to replace that as well. Just buy a diesel pusher and save yourself a million headaches and a ton of cash.
Question for y'all. Do y'all take advantage of state park passes for disabled veterans that some states offer, and has Phil gotten his free lifetime America The Beautiful pass?
Yes, we have the access pass and use it where we can. We have used the access pass at COE and in a few states but unfortunately not many states we have been too will take ti. Some states require you to be a resident of that state. But we always look to see where we can save on camping.
We love RV Trip Wizard! A heads up, AllStays is not available on Android. They used to be but was taken down in 2017 (according to what I read). We also love HH and used them for the first time in Kingman, AZ at Desert Diamond Distillery. They were amazing! Great videos! You guys are awesome! We will definitely check out RVillage! 😁
Stacy, I like your order of operation on your app usage, our first go-to is Harvest Host then Boondockers Welcome second, but amazingly everything else is the same order! And we know how you feel...Phil - being stationary in the same place for to long....explorers are meant to be out exploring! 🚌🛣🚲🧭 Opps...I forgot to mention FamCamp website.
It is a dual hitch receiver.....on top is the bike rack, botton is our Blue Ox tow bar. Everything is listed on our websites gear page: todayissomeday.net.
Looks like we will all be hitting the road at the same time, perhaps our paths will cross since we are in the same state. Harvest Host has paid for itself so fast and we are only 2mo into full timing. TSD is the best for saving diesel money. Allstays ONP is my last go to when I cant use Harvest Host or Passport America.
Frank D'Amelio no my last motorhome was a Class C,and much smaller. I went to a Super C because I really like how they drive, mine drives like my pickup only bigger. I am use to driving farm trucks so the size doesn’t bother me at all. But you can drive it one handed all day long,it drives that well. In my opinion they are much safer,God forbid I ever get in an accident but I have a lot of heavy stuff in front of me,not like a Class A where it’s you and the windshield. The Class A’s you and the passenger set over the top or in some models you are in front of the steer wheels and I don’t like that at all. Also I like the fact that we each have a door to get in and out of instead of having to use the camper door to get in and out. And I pray it never happens but if you would lay it over on it’s side you can’t get out ! I am a diesel guy they have much more power and torque and can pull much more,I pull a Jeep Wrangler and I don’t even know it’s back there,I leave the rear camera on so I can see it. I know that’s not much weight but I could pull 20,000 if I wanted to,witch I never will. As for maintenance you change the oil every 25,000 miles on my Cummings,if you would get a bigger one than mine ,like a 45 footer with a tag axle and get a Detroit DD13 they go 50,000. So it might cost a little more to have it done but you will do a gasser 5 times or more compared to mine. I am 68 years old and I gave up getting under my vehicles to change the oil a while ago. Some people say you have more room with a Class A but you don’t and if you buy a diesel pusher getting to the engine is a nightmare and a mechanic has to go in and out of You coach to pull the rear floor up to get to the motor, Super C just tilt the hood, easy as can be ! Sorry for the long post , I could go on and on. But you won’t be disappointed if you desire to go this way. There are tons of videos on SuperC’s check them out ! If I can help you out just let me know. Super C all the Way !
🎶 On the road again, I bet you can’t wait to get on the road again!🎶 Be thankful you can’t hear me singing! 😃 RV Life looks like a great app. When I found it in the App Store it only said “get”. I know we would get 30 days for free but could you tell me how much the app is before I download? Is the cost an annual fee? Wayne and Carrie
You can download for free and use some features. If you want to upgrade to use all the features I think it is $40 but that also includes the cost of RV trip wizard. So you would have that as well.
Hi Stacey back when we met in Pa last year at the meet up we talked about RV Trip Wizard and the one thing that you didn't like about RV Trip Wizard was that they added stops on as apposed to in between. You were talking to them and I was wondering if they changed that. Thanks Bill & Eleanor
YES!! It has been updated. I dont know if it is rolled out to everyone because it says beta testing on the top corner of my screen. I have been playing with it and I love it. It will tell you how many days are gapped and you can lock in dates. So now when I actually book my reservations I can lock in those dates. Adjusting stops above the lock will not move it.
@@todayissomeday Thanks Stacey we watched the newest post from RV Trip Wizard and see the change they made and will be looking to purchase. Are ya'll affiliates with RV Trip Wizard?
Stacy, you might still get busted??? I noticed that you are still missing a socket from the case??? I'll be praying for you & Phil to have safe travels when you get "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" Also glad that Phil is mending well!!!
Another great video. I've checked out your website but can't find the driving finance app you said was the bonus. Am I missing it somewhere? Thanks. Safe travels & happy camping!!
I have a question Staci? You were talking about the apps you use boon dockers welcome, harvest host, etc. and that you pay a yearly member ship. My question to you is, do you have to pay like a nightly rate on top of the yearly membership?
Nope.....your annual membership pays for your stays. You just need to call ahead to see if they have availability and pull in if they do. If at a HH, they would like for you to coming into whatever business it is and maybe buy something, but not mandatory.
I don't believe you have done a segment on "setting up the galley" and I wished you would. In the process of getting a Renegade and my first RV galley. Thanks
You, Me & the RV thank you, we have a good friend who is being stationed in Fort Eustis, we are driving to visit and will be using the applications you recommended to plan our trip and find a nice RV park in the process. Probably will stay for about one or two weeks.
Not all Boondockers welcome allow extended stay. They may have a single spot and others already reserved it. Always ask ahead of time. I am a planner and don't like leaving things to chance. Good Sam club originally had a trip planner where you could get fuel prices along your route but that feature has been discontinued. 😡 I regret buying the lifetime membership years ago. It originated as a NPO.
@@todayissomeday Yes it may say they allow x number of days. My point was you can't just arrive and think you can stay a week unless you confirm the available of the number of days you want when you first contact them. I know one place said they stopped being a Boondockers welcome because of people not doing that when there were others already booked.
Where are you staying in San Antonio? It looks nice. Is it only for Class rigs? After watching one of your videos I joined RVillage. I have a lot of photos to share and thought I would do it gradually as a simple post. Should I, instead or in addition to, should I also post them on your RVillage page? Thanks!
We use RV Life app for directions and while I like it, it tends to drop GPS quite frequently. Even while we are just driving down the rosd. It's a little unnerving. Maybe they can look at this. Next I need to download All Stays! Thanks for the info. Really helpful, as always😁 Oh, and congrats to Phil on the shoulder rehab. My other half, Aimee, has had both shoulders done (left one just in January) so we know the process is long and demand patience!
Yes! We do love military campgrounds. Military campgrounds are always cheaper than the surrounding area. We have spent $17-50 a night at military campgrounds. The $50 a night was up in the DC area (Fort Belvior) where they are over $100 a night off base. They are always a good deal and of course we love the base amentities!
OK where's the bonus app, I was at todayissomeday.net and I couldn't find it. Not that it's not there I just couldn't find it, but like my tools I can't find it's probably right where I left it. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Hey Phil, glad your shoulder repair and rehab is going so well! When did you have surgery? You must be kicking the rehab hard! And, how muchfuel does your rig hold and what is your average gallons fill-up?
Thanks Mark. I had surgery May 15th. I have had PT 3 times a week for almost 7 weeks now. I really did exactly as they said so that I could get back on the road pain free....almost there. We can hold 100 gallons of diesel and I normally fill up around 1/2 a tank. We can't go below a 1/4 tank or the generator will not run, so it leaves me a 1/4 tank to play with.
If you would like to make a reservation at this campground please call: Alsatian RV Resort at (830) 931-9190. Tell them Stacy sent ya!!

Does Trip Wizard have Harvest Hosts and Boondockers Welcome?
No because they are memberships.
Can you have a gas Class A RV fixed to add diesel or switch to diesel without having to buy another RV?
The most direct answer is: No. The cost to convert is so.....Just, no. Convert isn't even a good word. The word is replace. On top of that, if you have a generator...well you're going to have to replace that as well. Just buy a diesel pusher and save yourself a million headaches and a ton of cash.

We REALLY, REALLY love you guys!!!
Stacy, you might still get busted??? I noticed that you are still missing a socket from the case??? I'll be praying for you & Phil to have safe travels when you get "ON THE ROAD AGAIN" Also glad that Phil is mending well!!!
That missing socket is not my doing! lol
Kurt Cobb i noticed that too, but I was gonna keep it secret.
Very informative....and very funny. I'm not saying another word....
You are the best! 😂
Another great video! Thank you! Great range of motion there Phil! See you on the road one day!
You bet!
Thanks for the video. Do you need both RV Trip Wizard and Allstays? Isn't there some duplication?
yes, there is duplication. You dont have to have them both. When I started RV trip Wizard was not an app. So that is how my style evolved.
Another great video. I've checked out your website but can't find the driving finance app you said was the bonus. Am I missing it somewhere? Thanks. Safe travels & happy camping!!
The app is called Mileage Keeper. It is not technically a finance app but I made it into one.
@@todayissomeday Thank you!
Can I use TSD for my Class C rig? thx
Yes, as long as it is diesel. Just drive it through the trucker lanes.
Does RV trip wizard have to be connected to wifi? If you have a trip inputed, does it retain it so that you can access as your moving down the road?
You have to be connected to download it initially after that if you lose wifi or cell signal you will still have your route.
@@todayissomeday OK! great, thank you.
Check out Trucker Path
Thanks for the tip!
Is EFS as good or better than Gas Buddy?
Way better! The savings does not compare. But EFS only works for diesel in truck stops.
Thanks for the tips. I guess pink is your fav color? :)
Yes it is!
I don't believe you have done a segment on "setting up the galley" and I wished you would. In the process of getting a Renegade and my first RV galley. Thanks
We do have one. It is in this video: ua-cam.com/video/FeCG8h2KpwI/v-deo.html
Hello Stacy and Phil, where are you guys staying in Texas? We enjoyed the video, Josie is enjoying putting the planning tools together.
We are in Castroville.
You, Me & the RV thank you, we have a good friend who is being stationed in Fort Eustis, we are driving to visit and will be using the applications you recommended to plan our trip and find a nice RV park in the process. Probably will stay for about one or two weeks.
Allstays app for Android? I have not been able to find it. Anyone know if they have started distributing one. It's traditionally only been on iPhone.
Only on a IOS system....you can use it in the computer.
I have the Allstays CRV Military app on my Android.
Great information glad to see your shoulder is going so well Phil! Fingers crossed you get on the road soon. Hugs from down under
Thanks so much
Not all Boondockers welcome allow extended stay.
That is true but when you look on the host's page it will say how many days they allow and what amenities they offer.
Thanks!
Alsatian RV Resort in Castroville, TX. We would love it if you shared them in our group.
We use RV Life app for directions and while I like it, it tends to drop GPS quite frequently. Even while we are just driving down the rosd. It's a little unnerving. Maybe they can look at this. Next I need to download All Stays! Thanks for the info. Really helpful, as always😁
Oh, and congrats to Phil on the shoulder rehab. My other half, Aimee, has had both shoulders done (left one just in January) so we know the process is long and demand patience!
Thanks for sharing!
good luck finding a camp site, everything is crazy busy, more so than ever
I am sure it will be that way all summer.
Thanks for your service, I’m also retired Navy. Do you use the military campgrounds? How often? Does it save money?
We recently stayed at a Harvest Host for 2 nights. She asked, “How many nights?” So sometimes you get a bonus😃😃😃😃
We love when that happens!!
The 4th planning tool should the honesty LOL explain this one
Not sure what you mean Thomas......
Okay we'll keep it our secret we won't tell him to check his tool kit
I don't think Allstays is available on Android anymore. Anyone can use the web version tho.
You are right. Sorry
OK where's the bonus app, I was at todayissomeday.net and I couldn't find it. Not that it's not there I just couldn't find it, but like my tools I can't find it's probably right where I left it. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
It is at the bottom of the blog under BONUS! 😂😂
@@todayissomeday So I see said the blind man!
Where are you when you made this video?
Alsatian RV Resort in Castroville, TX
Love the info in this. Some new learning here. Thanks Stacy & Phil! 💙
Glad it was helpful!
Just joined Boondockers Welcome and used your code, thanks!
Awesome! Thank you!
Do you have an old school Rand McNally atlas on board when the cell or WIFI doesn't work?
We have a truckers version of the Rand McNally.
