This came happened to come across my feed and listened to this. Good podcast. As a Nets fan I’ve watched Claxton since his rookie season. He’s a special talent. The Nets don’t value big men, often play small and don’t get the best out of them. Just like when they had Jarret Allen and when he was traded to Cleveland became an all star. And Claxton is better than Allen, gave him work in practice when they were on the team together. Claxton’s upside is huge and if utilized correctly he’s already one of the top, most versatile defenders in the league, he has offense as well that hasn’t been unlocked. I don’t know what the Nets plan on doing at all, or what there direction is atp. They don’t want to lose him for nothing and many teams have interest in him. If Portland was to pay him around $22 mil, and talk to him and his agent even though it can be done mid season, if they showed that commitment, he would definitely help Portland with the young players and backcourt that they have.

Trade exceptions can't be used in signing free agents, only in a sign and trade which I don't think has ever happened. We would have to attach draft assets for NJ to even consider the sign and trade.

In the new CBA, trade exceptions can be used to sign free agents.

When I listen to y'all take, it feels like it's about the years past and future. The whole development and multiple seasons and what matters most...lol. Jus copying what Eric said. Love it!

With his FT percentage, will there be a strategy called "Hack a Clax"?

51:14 100% we need to move these vets to make room to develop youth like scoot n sharpe.Sharpe. Also need to replace Ayton in off-season- building long term core big man rotation.

I think the Nets would just keep if he only gets 20 million a year in his next contract.

With Sarr potentially getting drafted by Portland, why would we trade for Claxton and risk losing him in free agency. Detroit Spurs and Charlotte already have their C sorted (Duran, Wemby, Williams). Potentially Wizzards can pick him, but we shouldn't trade any player from our young core till we know our draft picks.. Thybulle Brogdon Timelord can be traded imo but again for the right price

Is sarr garenteed to be drafted by us? Also I feel they could be a 4/5 combo

At best we'll have a 14% chamce at Sarr.

I like Ayton. Claxton is a nice backup, but injury prone. No to Ben Simmons. He's a headcase.
