if they ever made a remake of chrono trigger we should all petition to let you do the music
After the secret of the forest that him made, Square need to buy him rights to use
@Jason Baumann PS1 and PC but, those aren't remakes.
They are just an emulated version with some exclusive thing...
We need a 3D remake on switch and PS4
Or you know, Yasunori Mitsuda
@Lavos I see you've returned after 9 months. I don't blame you.
This.... 100000000% totally
Lookin for Azala? She's right through here.
HOLD IT!!!
When I said "She's right through here", I meant you had to get past me, first!
*WHADDAYA THINK I'M FLEXIN AND LOOKING ALL INTIMIDATING FOR?!?!*
That's also why I love this game so much. The comedy just keep hitting right ^^
nizbel's famous last words
Hey!
.
.
.
Ya got some nerve just walking past me
The great nizbel I'll show you
Man, that first 40 seconds hits even harder than the original . So majestically ominous!
Couldn't have said it better honestly.
@@Marsproject11 Listening again it's those high-end choral libraries that Malcolm instinctively uses here, combined with the other sections, impossible on the SNES track. He could have went church organ, but he went the choral route. Epic as hell.
Yusss!!!
The bass should be a bit louder imo, it played a big role in the original song.
1:43 This is lovely.
totally agree
The bass is the best part of the song. Every version sadly never increases the volume.
1:42 Can we talk how awesome is this part? I LOVE that bass, damn!
This was one of my favorite pieces in the game, awesome to hear it arranged like this!
Ah Jurassic Rock, truly the pinnacle of video game music.
All puns aside, this is a powerful. That intro with the combo of chorus and violins was amazing. I love that little detail at 0:43 Where the percussion picks up a few seconds before the rest of the instruments. It really makes their entrance all the more grand. This cover just oozes the feeling that this is a dangerous place, and mysterious as well when you get to that part at 1:43. I also appreciate you keeping the baseline there, especially 1:52.
The only little problem I have with this is at 0:42, I think one of the best part of the original is how the organ(?) notes kept playing without a decrescendo when the drum part kicks in and syncs together before the song transitions.
That's just a nitpick though, I guess. Other than that, you did amazing work as always. Thank you for your work!
That's a fair point. Organs can't change their volume, so a decrescendo is impossible, but I went with a different instrumentation (strings/brass/choir) and thought the decrescendo sounded more natural than having them (brass and choir) hold the note for so long without breathing. Anyway, I'm happy to get your feedback. I always consider feedback when I make last minute changes to the album versions.
No problem, keep up the awesome stuff
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic That's not always correct. Many organs can change their volume by using a pedal above the main pedals. This is likely an electronic era thing, but in the mechanical era, you should still have been able to have your bellows man/men let it fade with some planning. That said, I think keeping it true to the game is the better thing since that's where the nostalgia is, and also that it is the source work, and your derivatives generally honor them so carefully. I am curious what you chose to do in the album version, since it has now been out for some time but I don't use any of the services you chose for it.
Love that bass line and piano interlude.
I love this song. It sounds so similar to Dark Messenger from ff9 (on purpose I think) especially the piano portion.
I often feel like this song is a hard one to recapture. But you sure as hell did a good job!
Another awesome job! there hasn't been one I haven't liked. Chrono had some great music. still hoping for a big remake someday. I'd love to see it on a new console
As much as I and everyone who loves Chrono Trigger to death would want that, Square Enix is too stuck on itself to ever give that great game from 1995 the start treatment it deserves.
Alkahest Damn straight. There's pretty much nowhere to go but down if Chrono Trigger were to be modernized.
Alkahest I would have agreed, because I think the charm of this game comes from the 16-bit sprites and simple artwork, but then I saw Octopath Traveler. The way they blended pixel art and amazing lighting and atmospheres gives that game an amazing art style. I think if they gave Chrono Trigger that treatment and did it right, it would make the game everyone adores even better and would possibly appeal to a wider audience on Switch.
You absolutely nailed it again! If there were to ever be a remake, you'd need to be the composer.
Thank you! I think if there is a remake, the soundtrack will either end up sounding much better than this (if they have the budget to hire a real orchestra) or it will sound a little worse (if they get someone like me but give him a ridiculous deadline to remake all the music from the game).
Gosh, you're a living legend!
What I really appreciate about your remakes so far is that it all respects the original versions, and the sounds themselves aren’t too dramatically different than the original.... This gives it a similar quirky vibe of the snes sounds, just a bit better though.... Well done friend. Also the transcriptions are perfect.
This morning I listened to this song on repeat for a solid three hours while designing a monster race for a game I'm developing. I think it turned out well.
So... thank you, Malcolm! Your music is quite literally inspiring.
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the comment! I'm glad you were able to get some inspiration from my arrangement. It's really amazing how music can inspire art and art can inspire music. I also listen to music when I have to do a creative non-music-related task and it helps me a lot.
Fantastic job as always, captures the theme of the original PERFECTLY. Can't wait for the 2 final battle themes!
OH MY GOD
that first note hit me like a god damn truck. The addition of the choir in the background helps with the ominous feel that the track is supposed to deliver. This might be my favorite rendition of yours yet! Excellent work, Malcolm!
Thanks! I was trying to make the intro sound a little more impressive without changing the feeling of the original piece too much. I'm glad you liked it.
This track has one of the coolest intros of all time. Your remix made it even more awesome.
god, these are so good! I keep coming back and listening to your music just for fun! I wish I could use your music for the rest of time. please never stop
Awesome rendition. Malcolm, you are indeed an artist, sir. Thank you for such a great work.
Another masterpiece. I absolutely cannot stop listening to these remixes
@Malcolm Robinson Music
It's amazing that this video got 100k views.
My favourite music from Chrono Trigger. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius for composing the original version of this music. Recently been playing the Steam version of Chrono Trigger. Love this music when it plays in Tyrano Lair and Giant's Claw. . This video needs more views. You did a great job on the remake (or remaster)
The added chorus makes this an absolute joy to listen to.
Holy balls, this is amazing! Quite astonishing what you manage to get out yet, of the already superb Chrono Trigger soundtrack. Thanks for all your work!
Thanks for listening! I probably wouldn't have made so many of these Chrono Trigger covers if it weren't for the enthusiasm and encouragement of my listeners.
Hey ! That's the one I asked ! Thanks a lot it's just perfect ! :O
Yes! I have been hoping for this!
Absolutely epic exquisite stuff right here... wow freaking wow.... you sir have made me a fan and subscriber!!!!
So Epic!!!!!!
I always love your orchestrated music!!!!!!
Thank you! I was hoping it would sound epic.
This track is so freakin underrated.
The reptites were the best species because they cherished nature and lived in absolute balance with it. They were also smarter than humans until the ice age caused by Lavos wiped them out. Thus allowing humans to evolve at a faster rate because of contact with Lavos.
Listening to this song, suddenly I found myself grinning. So surprising!
Thank you for uploading this SUPER WELLMADE REMIX!!!
You're a genius.
I find all of your remix PERFECT, it's better than the best ones I can imagine.
Congrats !!
Sweet DAMN that intro, you NAILED this one. Great as always dude. Love me some chrono trigger orchestrations.
Thanks! I made some changes to the original instrumentation of the intro (most notably removing the organ and adding a choir). I'm glad it turned out okay.
Yeah, the intro sounded pretty new to me, i noticed the change in ambience, and the choir made up for the organ pretty nicely, and it sounded as if a real orchestra had to put up with what they had to make this song and still came out great, i love it :)
This is absolutely wonderful.
Your tracks are absolutely awesome! I like how you target the one-hit wonder RPGs, they hold a special place in my heart. You really bring me back with these arrangements, bringing some great memories of grinding through Chrono Trigger and Terranigma. I would like to see Final Fantasy V get some love, that's another often-forgotten gem that I cherish from my childhood. Of course, it's entirely up to you man, I still love your channel.
Sorry for the late reply. Final Fantasy V isn't very high on my list of priorities, but I'll work on it eventually. It's got some great tracks.
This was such a surprise banger
Great job once again.
As I once said in the comments, I really hope you'll come to do some Chrono Cross one day, but I kow you already have a lot planned out so keep the great work. I'm sure everyone here is really appreciating it. Thank you for everything :)
Thank you! I might start working on Chrono Cross after I'm finished with Chrono Trigger. I've given it some thought and I think it would be a good choice, but my only concern is that the original soundtrack already sounds quite good and my versions might end up sounding only slightly better (or worse) than the originals.
True that ^^ But then that would make for quite a challenge wouldn't it?
So good! Amazing work and I love your videos!
Missed this awesome work
You never fail to grasp the heart of those songs while making them even more epic. Kuddos!
Hell yeeaaahhh. Sounds great!
Another wonderful piece man, keep up the fantastic work.
Love your dedication to keeping your remixes as true to the original as possible! Are you planning on remixing the unreleased tracks as well (Singing Mountain and Battle Theme II)? Also, any ETA on a second Chrono Trigger album, I feel the need to throw money at you for your amazing work. :D
I'm not planning to do the two unreleased tracks for the second album, but I might do them in the far future if I decided to make a third volume for all the tracks that I had to skip. As for Vol. II, it will probably be available this summer. I only have three more tracks to go, though I also have some work to do on my older uploads like Boss Battle II and Undersea Palace. Admittedly, I'm not a very easy person to throw money at since I don't have a donation system like Patreon and I make my albums as cheap as possible. I really appreciate your support though.
Singing Mountain is no longer unreleased. It was used in the DS version for part of the new Dimensional Vortex dungeon in the post-game.
And Battle Theme II was also used in some sort of colliseum for pet battles in 2300 AD in the DS port.
Great job man. This sounds amazing.
Thank you!
This remix is one of the greatest remixes of all time!
Geez, I almost cried!
Your remixes never disappointed me , good job again Sir !
Have you an idea of the next Chrono Trigger's re-orchestration that you will do ? :D
Thanks! My final three will most likely be Last Battle, To Far Away Times, and World Revolution. I may have to replace one of them if I can't get it to sound good enough.
Very well done! Love the intro! So when are you going to do some Chrono Cross tracks?
I'd really like to do some Chrono Cross tracks, but it'll probably have to wait until I've finished my FFIV cover album.
Do not speak of that game it's 🗑️
AWESOME!!!
I love that tyrano lair is still somewhat intact even after a lavos impact in prehistoric era.
Ikr? At least up to 600 AD as part of Giant's Claw island. Simply incredible. Only the Sun Keep can beat that.
Wooooow you don't stop amazing me, please never stop
I'll do my best!
I just found out that Kuja's theme from Final Fantasy IX reuses some of the melody in this song and the Desert Palace theme from Final Fantasy V. Great remix.
holy SHIT this is amazing
Hardest hitting intro ever!
In the game itself, I never much cared for this song for some reason, but the moment the brass dropped in your cover, I couldn't help but let out a triumphant "Yes!"
This is one of my favorite Chrono Trigger songs, and the intro absolutely nails it! Probably should have gone with just electric guitar rather than the synthetic horn section for the initial driving part, though. The original MIDI sound had no echo, and it worked well, but this version just sounds empty and doesn't drive as hard. Otherwise a great arrangement!
1:53 that freakin bass solo....dynamite!!!
I guess I have to ask, how is this performed? I’m okay if it’s all done digitally just curious.
Great job bro! Please, produce more Ost of *E.V.O Search for eden*. I love this game! Excuse me, my english is bad.
I read a comment avout the kuja boss theme in which someone said listen the theme of chrono trigger its looks like it. Its so much true
Ahh one of my favorites, and it turned out so good. Are you planning to do World Revolution + Last Battle eventually? Last Battle in particular seems like it'd be rather difficult to capture but I bet you could do it.
Yes, I'll do them fairly soon. Last Battle is basically finished, but I want to make some changes to it before uploading it. World Revolution will be my final Chrono Trigger upload.
bro, I've been listening to these all week! the are absolutely golden. do you mind if I use a few of your songs in my animations? im planning really good videos, and I've been looking for amazing music to go with it. I always credit and link my music, and I would be honored to use your music
No problem! Feel free to use any of my content in your videos. You should be aware, however, that "Secret of the Forest" and "Black Omen" can trigger content I.D. claims on UA-cam, but everything else should be safe to use.
Thank you.
These holes! What if I fall in them...?
Yes!
I return to the start and
*NOM*
Still to this very day, the music is still alive
And this music is made with a software? Which software is it?
I remember the first time I heard this, and for the first few seconds I was like "Wait, what, Kuja's Theme?"
The opening was always so frightening
The Fangame Chrono Trigger : Flames Of Eternity always freak me out when suddenly an image appeared out of nowhere and the Tyrano Lair theme plays.
Hell yeah!!!
Sick AF
Good video men
holy fuck!!! amazing!
Another amazing track from CT orchestrated very well. A quick suggestion for the future, check out some tracks from Lufia 2 (a very under-rated game for SNES), including The Savior of Those on Earth, Tower, and any of the battle themes.
Lufia I and II had some excellent tracks. I agree on this suggestion.
Thanks! I played the Lufia games a long time ago and I liked their soundtracks. While I have no plans to cover them, it's possible that I'll work on them someday if I feel some sudden inspiration.
@Malcolm Robinson Music: Sounds good. : )
yea those tracks would be amazing to have done Dave
is like i can almost hear Ayla
Where...when?
How
If you've ever played any of them, you should try to orchestrate some of the Pokemon games! Or even better do some more of those underrated Final Fantasy 1 OST's you do. That one you have is amazing and I would love to see more.
I've never played any of the Pokemon games, so I won't be covering the franchise even though it's insanely popular. I will eventually be starting FF1 again though. The soundtrack isn't as popular as the other FF soundtracks, but it's probably still worth covering.
YESSSS! Temple of Fiends, Battle Theme, the Sky Castle - I'm sure you could do awesome things with these!
Showwwww!!!!
HELL YEA!!!!
Si sabes hacer remakes felicidades!!!
Shiny, shiny! This Rainbow Shell? Can eat??
thx :)
Awesome man! Could U please make Battle Theme II from Chrono too? I love that theme :D
I'm not planning to do the two unreleased tracks (Battle 2 and Singing Mountain) anytime soon, but it's possible in the far future.
Malcolm Robinson Music Oh, ok! I'll be patiently waiting!
You rock
1:43 ❤️❤️
The Tyranno Lair?!
Ayla understand! Lavos fall, lair buried under much dirt!
Welcome to Jurassic Park
I have a request could you do sacred duet from Zelda spirit tracks. actually any song from spirit tracks would be awesome
Dude, unrelated to Chrono Trigger
But that would fit Kuja, from Final Fantasy IX, so so much!
Your straight up going for a chrono trigger entire soundtrack remaster haha how close are you?
I'm limiting myself to 30 tracks, so I'm very close to finishing everything on my list.
I want my evil lair to have this as a theme
Ah, so. You are here, at last. This is it, then, the showdown. Today, there shall be a conclusion. Will it be we Reptites, or you foolish Apes who end up ruling this world??
Ayla: Strong survive! Ayla strong! Ayla fight!!
Azala: ...
*ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Azala: Hear that BEAUTIFUL voice??? You'll soon be hearing FAR more of it than you ever DREAMED!!!
*Retreats to the boss room*
I always thought this track was very similar to Kuja's final fight, dark messenger i believe
Yes, the part that starts at 1:56 is similar to Kuja's theme, which took some inspiration from FFV's "Intention of the Earth", a track that plays in the pyramid dungeon. Both tracks as well as this one were composed by Uematsu.
Reminds me of Durania.. I’ve always wondered if there was a Zelda composer who partook in this making.. There is a particular song that has a lot of particular notes with Zelda.. it’s either the cathedral one or some one with where you beat magnus first in the magic cave. I think it’s the cathedral one, but the cave one also somewhat vibes.. Zelda in a way.. but not quite as much as the cathedral.
What’s funny is Ayla plays a similar role to Durania.. With freeing and sacrificing.. except she lives.
I figured it out; the cathedral sounds like Malon/Ramani..
1:40
This sounds like something from Chocobo's Dungeon. The one from the Wii.
This is more terrifying than the original
Mr. Crowley!
👍👌
my favorite after frog's theme
mal posso esperar pra ouvir o palacio oceanico
I think this sounds like Kuja's theme from FFIX and vice versa
Same composer
And so do I.
Now that I think about it, it's probably more like a combination of Kuja's theme and Shinra's
