The T-16 was a cool little discovery that unfolded through my early years. First there was the flashback story in the Marvel comic, then the radio play telling of the “stone needle” story, then the “aha” moment of realizing that was the model Luke was playing with, then the “double aha” moment of buying the widescreen VHS version in the 90s and realizing the “life sized” version of the ship was in Luke’s garage the whole time.
I have that POTF2 Skyhopper. It is indeed a cool item. I did customize it by cutting down the front of that sled part, that blocks your view of Luke when he is in it. I moved his seat forward as well. I also made a clear stand for it.
Anybody remember playing Rebel Assault years ago?! The T-16 flying in the canyons was the first challenge when you started the game! Check out videos of it, it was an early cd-rom Lucasfilm game that tried to incorporate FMV with game play, it wasnt the best game, but it brings back memories of my youth and how technology evolved. Great video! Thank you for reminding me of some great memories!❤
The Imperial Shuttle is one of my favourite Star Wars vehicles so the T-16 being it’s inspiration is awesome. One of the greatest vehicles from The Power of the Force 2, and one I still need to get.
I only had the micro machine version, but I loved that it is this background thing that gets mentioned or shown in the first(original release even) movie so much.
I'll admit I pushed the Skyhopper off shelf to see if really could hop to it ;). Really its usually vibrations from outside or walking by or creating a breeze that causes them to topple. I used to have friend Brian who collected Star Wars even going to stores with him when Phantom Menace Craze was going on. He would shake so much stuff would start falling off my shelves or figures off TVs at others places. They had Wrestling Figure for everybody I think I was Jericho as they could not find Sabu hehe. I don't really remember T-16 it sorta reminds me of the Imperial one with like the Guards in Red that kinda design sorta. I was not fan of those canyon racing ships or scenes for some reason never clicked. Stone Needle Now :).
In the 80s I discovered the Skyhopper design and built one out of cardboard and bits of plastic. Unfortunately I used tape to hold together and that gave out about 15 years later... 🙁 Come to think of it, that happened right before the POTF2 toy was released...
Started collecting Kenner POTF2 figures in 1995, a few yrs later Kenner released this with the Awing and I bought them up. The original price for these was $19.99 for them, this was before inflation, lol. These would probably cost about $120 now.
Thank you for the video! I just subscribed. My T-16 story is I really really wanted to build an actual 1 to 1 scale ship. I did the blue prints but couldn’t raise the budget to build it, family priorities plus I was in my teens!😂 Maybe just maybe I’ll do it now, but most likely someone else already did?😂👽🙏🏼💖🌟✨⚡️💫
Hi Scott! Love your work as always. I wonder if this could work as a less expensive HasLab? I mean, the Transformers Star Saber was $179 and it funded. I think that this seems like a realistic price target and would do better than Reva's lightsaber or the Rancor.
It's a nifty ship, all right, and I LOVE the Imperial Shuttle, so the T-16 gets a bit of extra additional affection from me for inspiring it. I never got into the Action Fleet stuff, but I did have the original Micro-Machine of this, as well as the "model" that came with the Luke figure, and of course, the POTF2 vehicle. I mostly learned about the T-16 through later supplementary publications; I've never heard the radio dramas or seen the Marvel comic adaptations. Is there a "Star Wars" ship you feel is OVER-RATED? I know a lot of people will be outraged because of nostalgia and feels, but I'm just not a fan of the Millennium Falcon, personally. It's not that I hate it, or even dislike it -- it's just that it doesn't "grab" me the way a lot of other vehicles do.

I used to play Rebel Assault. And if my memory is correct, you fly one during your training, doing the Beggars Canyon run.

The T-16 skyhopper is the spaceship equivalent of a dirt bike.
I used the Mini Rig ISP-6 as a Skyhopper.
That was a nifty toy. I hope they re-release some of the cooler mini-rigs at some point.

Ah, from before the Dark… I mean Disney…. Times 🥸
I have a POTF2 Skyhopper and the Micro Machines one. I don't think I ever got the Action Fleet one, and I was big into that line.
Did you ever play Rogue Squadron 2? You could race against Biggs, through Beggar's Canyon,.in the Skyhopper 🙂

Threading the needle was in the story radio broadcast

I need to re listen to the radio drama because I do not remember the stone needle scene..

Did he really say aluminum falcon😂
What the hell is an aluminum falcon? ;)
The discount version you didn't want your grandparents to get you?
@@andrewgrant2990 lol...dollar store Star War rip off.
The ship was already cleaned up by the end of the series when Kenobi gave it to young Luke.

Fun thx !
Too bad we will never get a black series T-16. it would have been a reasonable size vehicle for that line.
Good morning everyone from Kannapolis, NC! It’s hot here 🥵🥵🥵🥵

sorry... I was born during Return of the Jedi.
I have a toy of this.
