Thanks so much Monsieur Laudamiel for sharing the formula for Carlos as a tribute mi admiration for you green a little higher .... Papi Carlos you will never be forgotten and your passion and smile will fill my heart for years to come ,until we meet again ! Rest In Peace
What a truly magnificent video! So much to learn. This man is an olfactory genius. I could listen to people like him talk all day about fragrance logistics and chemistry. Can learn a ton from this man in 30 minutes. Simply awe inspiring.
Hands down, one of your best videos Carlos. Mr. Laudameil is so insightful and likable. An informative, funny, and entertaining interview. I usually like your "short and sweet" videos, but I wish this one was longer!
I haven't sampled The Zoo yet, but I certainly will. Thank you Carlos for having Christopher on, and Christopher , thank you so much for Amber Absolute.
This was facinating , i appreciate you highlighting the people that often get overlooked in perfumery! Something very few people do. Great as always carlos 🙏
One of the best Perfumer interview videos I’ve ever seen. If not the best. I just went and found a bottle of Amber Absolute on eBay because of this video.
Christophe is a genuinely affable, very knowledgeable perfumer. Thanks so much for introducing us to the nose behind the legendary Amber Absolute, Carlos! It was a joy to watch. I wanted to smell that Omani frankincense so much! Sadly I have not yet smelled Amber Absolute.
Cool Interview. Love A & F Fierce - didn't know Christophe Laudamiel was behind this fragrance. As well, it was neat to see him pull out the bottles of certain notes like and amber. Thank you.
I love stuff like this, an in depth look at the process and mindset of a celebrated perfumer. It's always great to see insight like this when you try to wrap your head around a fragrance. Thanks Carlos, have a great weekend!
what a great dude and perfume artist. Amber Absolute is an unbelievable scent, the only scent that I need for myself because I love it so much. it's addictive. an almost fruity "fresh" incense. sunset-colored ambery smell with vanilla and sandalwood in the dry off. that scent feels so spicy and thick as if you almost could touch it in the air.
What an awesome interview Carlos! Really interesting how he showed all those different ingredients. That resin labdanum is so thick it looks like crude oil I’ve never had the chance to try Amber Absolute, but I’m “Absolute” sure I’ll get my hands on it some day. #BadPun
How do you burn frankincense? I have some “tears”/crystals and can’t figure it out. Put it on hot coals? Try to light it directly? Carlos, you’ve done so many amazing interviews over the years. It’s great. Thank you.
Wow Carlos, this was fascinating! I love learning about the different notes, and I look forward to more from you and Christophe Laudamiel! It's very generous of him to share this kind of information. BTW, I ran across what appears to be an original 1996 bottle of Cigar Eau de toilette by Remy Latour. I have had my eye on it for a number of months and still haven't purchased it. I would say the bottle is approximately 2/3 full. I love the smell, and I was thinking of decanting some for myself, and sending the rest of the bottle to you, and perhaps you could share with Steven or Olya, or whom ever enjoys this fragrance, which I think has aged beautifully. xo Lisa
F the haters! This is great content. One of the best in the game. This must of been a dream come true for you! Thank you for sharing. SOTD AMBER ABSOLUTE.😎
This was an absolutely fascinating interview. Something I would have liked to ask him, that I bet he would be super knowledgeable about, are reformulations. Questions like how often do they really occur? Is the original perfumer involved? Do companies do them for profit? And many more similar questions! Great interview Carlos.
One of the best video by Carlos. I love how he went over the ingredients. You should have asked him how come the original smells more woody while the re-release smells more boozy. In my opinion the original have stronger Patchouli, Sandalwood & Laudanum while the new re-released has more benzoin
Really fascinating, I LOVE these kinds of videos! It feels like we are told very intimate trade secrets. Thank you! PS! Could you please make more videos with him and ask how the design process works when he develops new fragrances. Is it like the lego references where he follows an almost mathematical formula on a computer or does he on purpose do things "wrong" in order to find "happy olfactory accidents"?
I took the daring plunge after watching this recently - for newbies, if you haven't bungee jumped yet, then hold on. A little backdrop....my first TF was Noir de Noir in 2021just falling in love with rose-based fragrances. Next up was Portrait of Lady (so I started with a TF heavy hitter and eased into another classic). I then headed to the amber side of niche over the summer with Xerjoff's Cassmorati 1888 and Roja's Amber Aoud Pour Homme. But DAMN, when TF's Amber Absolute arrived last week, it was like releasing a wild animal back into nature when I sprayed it on my skin. The opening is explosive but as we all know in niche you have ride the journey of the mid and dry down before coming to any brass conclusions; hell, I've wanted to chuck a few bottles at first spray but just about all of them have risen to the top of favorites; though I could not survived Kemi's Blending Magic when swinging by animalistic frag's for a pop-in. Note, TF Amber Absolute has some barnyard qualities but NOTHING like Kemi BM. Back to TF............I am honored to have this in my small but growing collection. I'm checking out Patchouli's next (I hear Jovoy has a great one) but take a wild guess who I'm probably going to go with first :). Kudo's Tom Ford and Mr. Laudamiel and RIP Carlos - I still find inspiration from your videos as evident from this post (my Sospira Erba Pura, Roja's Danger along with a smokey Thomas Kosmala no.9 Bukhoor Elixir and Prive Musc Shamal are all on the way while you are looking down from Heaven).
Utterly wonderful video, learnt so much from this. Makes me with I'd done a different degree back in the day lol. He is like a fountain of knowledge. We expect a more expert nose now Carlos when you're reviewing :-P and amber absolute is a gorgeous scent
What I'll remember from this: frankincense looks like popcorn lol! JK very interesting vid! Christophe Laudamiel is an amazing perfumer and really passionate.
Thanks so much Monsieur Laudamiel for sharing the formula for Carlos as a tribute mi admiration for you green a little higher .... Papi Carlos you will never be forgotten and your passion and smile will fill my heart for years to come ,until we meet again ! Rest In Peace

Probably the best video you have ever done Carlos, thank you both.

Try fragrancesline.com for a sample
@@BrooklynFragranceLover thanks! I don't think I've ever used them before.
This is really great. Very eye opening. Thank you for doing this.
Carlos, that is so freaking awesome!!! Amber Absolute is also my numer 1! Please tell me you had him autograph your amber absolute box?

Great interview. I would love to take a hands-on class in perfumery. On another note, not sure what Carlos was thinking with that hat

Great interview Carlos.
I asked about Reformulations. He said no, original creators not involved
Interesting stuff! Thank you for this video.
I think many confuse amergris and amber (including myself). Now we are wiser.
Can anyone tell me what he says right after 15:55..talking about a type of sandalwood?
He was naming the synthetic sandalwood molecule
