@@GuitarversumSandraSherman I’ve been looking for a guitar like that one. Not a huge body. Which model is that? Oh by the way… my mother’s people are from Austria. Nice to hear the accent again. 🥰
Your video lessons are alway a pleasure to watch. I'm restart to play after a stupid accident to my left hand. It's hard at 68 but I'm really inspired by you. Thanks 🤗
Thankyou so much for another great song and easy to follow lesson. I restrung my guitar today and fired up the amp for the first time in 6 months. I am only half way through the song but it's so good to get my mojo back. All thanks to you.
Thx Sandra...love learning this bluesy ballad...sounds so good WITH your crafty arrangement. as ever glad to have found and subscribed...your teaching is friendly but professional...must be a good dozen tunes learned so far...Moon river was the last and its a lovely arrangement too..Thx for the channel
Is this the first time for this beautiful classic? I don’t remember you doing it - I’m surprised you haven’t done this one!!👏👏… I hear Ella singing… “The blues walked in and met me…” well done, Sandra!😁🙌
Yes, that's a new one. I didn't have it in my reoertoire, and somehow filed it under "Blues", like "Black Coffee". These two songs are usually high on the vocalists lusts, but I never had it on my radar. So once again, requests from the subscribers led me to this beautiful tune.
I just watched Lena Horne's performance from 1943! What a beautiful song. Makes me appreciate your work even more. Thank You. P.S I think I've heard this on one of those Peter Gunn reruns also.
Sandra I do totally enjoy your instruction! May I ask what size strings you are using and what brand. I also use a D'Angelico guitar! I have the deluxe SS!. Please let me know!
I meant the song - and your playing /arrangement - but the guitar is lovely too - im looking at premier ss or EXL 1 but I also liked the Guild Arisocrat I saw you plaing on a short video - (with P90s) which one is warmest tone for jazz/ blues in your opinion - for me - a smaller body is better as I play mandolin
I've just gotta ask...with all the similarities in chord voicings, how long can you retain these pieces in your head and under your fingers without confusing them with other tunes in the same relative key? Beautiful work!
Tbh, I dont memorize all these arrangements, bc I'd play them differently myself. I use more in between lines etc. Most of these arrangements are meant to be intermediate level, some easy, some advanced. I write an arrangement, play through it several times, correct it if it's too hard to play for that level, or even myself, then perform it for the video with the sheet in front of me. Generally learning a chord melody tune by heart isn't that hard. When I play my own stuff, I just memorize some special runs. A lot of it is improvized with a given concept (like many quartal voicings etc). I know the chord örogression and the melody. For me personally it's not hard to play a chord melody on the fly, without even having to write an arrangement, if I know the song well enough.
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman The song is the question and JAZZ is the answer. I'd love to see a follow up video with some alternative thinking applied. That could be very informative (and give you more mileage from your videos?). I study a tune by looking at as many versions as possible and I almost always prefer your intermediate approaches to melody arrangements. I have played many of your arrangements but I'm reaching the age where my memory fails even on my originals. Thank you Mrs Sherman for giving us your time and expertise!
Hey Sandra Sherman. I hope you don't mind that I used your basic concept and built on it a bit with some moving bass lines, shell voicings, chromatic movement and an altered version of the Phase 4 section. I did give you credit and hope you like it. ua-cam.com/video/8SnyxeVH5_I/v-deo.html

Music is a universal language. Glad you still find it helpful. I wish Youtub would add automatic translated subtitles.

Dear Ms. Sherman, Do your pdf TABS include block diagrams of chords? An old East Tennessee hillbilly fan.
Yes, most of them do. If the descriptuon in the shop (scroll down there to see it) says so, there will be chord grids. All Tabs have notation also.
