Quinn - you can set the second on the alarm clock, and then just turn off the alarm. I set mine on UTC time. the instructions for this watch are on the internets.
I enjoyed your review and I did hit like and subscribe. Mike you are very articulate; easy to understand; soft to the ear and your indepth explanation is concise. Keep up the good work bro. Cheers
'If you're looking for the high end version of this watch you should deff-spend 50x as much on a breitling o.o I'm really considering this seiko as my first chronograph. I like mechanical watches but mech chronos are expensive and servicing even a basic mechanical chrono is quite pricey too
I have this example with the white face and blue sub dials, and surrounding slide rule bezels , its just my opinion but its a stunner! it just looks far more expensive than actually is, and as an original design its up there with the Brietlings and whatnot, i have read on the forums that owners have weird niggles with them when changing batteries ? just 2 days ago (at time of comment) a did its 1st battery replacement (Renata that I had in stock) I put new Seiko "O" ring and re Sealed with Seiko grease (nitrile gloves , plastic tipped tools and whatnot) and no problems with chrono hands etc
This video gives a good look visually of the watch but would have been more interesting if you would have provided more practical examples of how you use the features.
Just got my "Flighty" a month ago.To be honest, I like it, but I don't love it. It looks good; but it could be better. At 41mm, it's too small for me. 45mm+ would. look a lot better on my 8+ inch wrist. And a pilot watch needs to be legible (when I was flying, I wore a G-Shock). The minute hand should be the same width as the hour hand. I'd say I wear my divers twice as much as I wear this. Subscribed.
Hey Michael, definitely could see your issue with the size... my wrist is a puny 6.5", so the 41mm size is perfect for me. Honestly, was never bothered by the width of the hour vs. the minute hand, but everyone has their particulars :) Breitling makes a 46mm Navitimer, although it may be a lot more than you want to spend.
hello PZ - I bought it from a guy on Ebay. I've seen them go for less than $150. If you try Ebay, buy only from sellers with a 100% rating; even if it costs a bit more. good luck
I got a 22mm nato on no problem but not a long term solution for me, looking for a better strap and will definitely look into new spring bars for sure👍
I can't unscrew the SNA411's stopwatch button, upper right. It does not move at all. Have you experienced the same trouble? Do you have any idea to fix it?
It's most likely cross-threaded, it will require a bit of force to get unstuck. If you don't want to break it, you should probably take it to a professional :)
HI, congrats on the amazing and deep knowledge videos! I loved the video on the seiko flightmaster. I was looking for one on amazon but a doubt came up. How do we know they re not good replicas? do you have any tips on this? or a reliable seller you trust? thanks
Well, I haven't had any problems on Amazon yet. Typically if a seller is trying to get away selling replicas, they will be called out quickly and get inundated with bad reviews. Also, I don't really see a lot of sellers trying to do replicas of new entry level Seiko watches, doesn't really seem worth it (not much profit potential). Watch out for vintage Seikos on Ebay though, many of them have aftermarket parts (particularly the vintage divers).
Being just a quartz, is it still a better buy than the seiko ssc009p1? It's looks similar to the flightmaster SNA411 but it uses tachymeter rotating bezel and it has SOLAR quartz movement. It's slightly cheaper than the SNA411 too. What do you think?
Ivan Jo I haven't handled the SSC009 but they appear to be roughly the same price and configuration. The solar battery is a nice feature, though! I'd go with the SSC009 if you have a larger wrist (it's slightly bigger), otherwise it's a toss up between style preferences.
Great review. Thanks :) Love the colour of the NATO strap. Do you know what is the name of the colour or the online place I can buy it from? I have military green strap but your strap is much darker and i love it. Thanks in advance :)
Nice review, I bought it but I also got a Di-Modell Rallye black yellow stitching strap but don't know what size spring bars i need (length and diameter). Anyone can help? Thanks!
I don't believe this watch is available with sapphire. Like most Seikos, it uses Seiko's own glass (hardlex). I suppose you could fit an aftermarket sapphire glass on the watch if you wanted to, but honestly I think it would look the same. I can't really differentiate visually between Hardlex and Sapphire, although sapphire is known to be a bit more scratch resistant.
"If you're looking for the high-end version of this watch, you should definitely be looking at the Brietlnig Navigator". Thanks Captain Obvious. Apples to Oranges. I picked up my Flightmaster Sna413 in the blue and white Sept 2004 for MSRP CDN at $575. As its currently selling for as much or more in used condition, I'll be hanging on to mine. Mostly because.... I bought it because I absolutely love it and get this... I still fcukn love it to bits. I'm absolutely chuffed that someone is willing to pay more than I did for the watch but it will stay with me. I'm betting most owners of this watch will feel the same way, you only have to put it in your hands to understand. It is beautiful.
Sacha Bernasconi nowhere really- it was always that price until youtube reviewers praises its great value, the price has crept up since and since they’re discontinued it will keep creeping up I suspect. Cheapest price I’ve seen on eBay/Amazon is around $280/300 new but luckily the nature of the watch means it looks fine worn in. I was happy to buy a nearly new one on eBay for $220
It’s NOT a digital watch. Perhaps you meant “quartz”. I’m not a huge quartz fan either, but since the seconds hand is small on this watch, the ticking motion doesn’t really bother me. The yellow chronograph hand has a smoother motion unlike a typical quartz.
What should I say? Crap? Because crap it is. As a trained pilot, you don't need this watch. You have already the calculations made for the trip. A crash on a desert island? You still don't need that watch. A plain watch and a good knife will help you in any survival situation. But that is for professionals. Stupid amateurs, or stupid people in general, might feel a reason for this watch. And Seiko is prepared to help you with the supply of it. So run around as a stupid teenager and think you have a "pilot" watch is plain stupid. You will never have a use for a watch like this. Can the watch tell the correct time? Day? Date? That's it. You don't need to know anything more.
Probably isn’t an actual pilot if he thinks everything digital is to be relied upon behind the yoke (i.e. - you already have everything planned out. Yeah...tell that to Alaskan bush pilots.). Sometimes (oftentimes) instruments and other things don’t work the way they’re supposed to, and in that instance, having something like this is actually pretty darn nice to have. Along with a firearm to accompany said knife.
Nice review. Others kept saying it had a "dual time" function, but they didn't show how it worked. You sold me on this watch.

Very handy feature, love this watch👌

Great review! Mine arrives Monday from Jomashop. Can’t wait to do some slide rule calculations.

I find audible beeps are far more useful than inaudible beeps: 0:41 😜

thank you
Michael Powell would you consider selling it?
Nice watch for small/medium size watch lovers.
Nice reivew. I would add a curved spring bar recommendation for using NATO type straps (I know it really helped me out).
I got a 22mm nato on no problem but not a long term solution for me, looking for a better strap and will definitely look into new spring bars for sure👍
My big yellow second has seized . It stopped on a battery changeover . Any ideas anyone apart from hammer.
Haha. Just found myself here. Thought I recognized that voice. Tom Wyrick says hi!
I have one this Seiko and I bought it for 59£!good deal!
I like your videos, man. Keep it up.

Cheers, Michael!
What size wrist do you have? For a 42mm watch it looks just fine. I have an 8 1/2' wrist. My Breitling Navi is just right.
Is this watch battery powered?
torgoen t21. Check out this option
Not domed crystal, it's domed hardlex
How were you able to squeeze a Nato on this bad boy?
$240 a good price?
I can't unscrew the SNA411's stopwatch button, upper right. It does not move at all. Have you experienced the same trouble? Do you have any idea to fix it?
I think I've had that issue... you have to keep unscrewing it even when it feels like it's completely unscrewed. Is it stuck or can you rotate it?
60clicks
It is stuck and I can't unscrew. should I go to watch shop or any good way to loosen it ?
It's most likely cross-threaded, it will require a bit of force to get unstuck. If you don't want to break it, you should probably take it to a professional :)
Mine too.

I believe it's a crown and buckle khaki NATO (www.crownandbuckle.com/khaki-premium-nato-20mm.html)
What style of strap is that? It looks like a seatbelt Nato but it still meets the watch the pins.
Automatic movement could have been great on this..
Nice review, I bought it but I also got a Di-Modell Rallye black yellow stitching strap but don't know what size spring bars i need (length and diameter). Anyone can help? Thanks!

you have a tiny little wrist. i have the citizen b5400-52a at 48mm and it looks a lot smaller on my wrist than this one on yours.
If you want the luxury version I would choose the Sinn 903
May I know what size of mato?20 or 22mm.Thankx

You should use gloves
Ramon Key I think you're confusing me with The Urban Gentry.
I don't pay 200.00 dollars for a digital watch.
I don’t pay £8.99 for a pint of milk.
