Omg! I was scrolling through the patterns and saw a floral that looked VERY familiar. I sent it to my mom and she confirmed that yes that was the exact floral she had on their comforter, drapes, and all decor back in the 90s 😂 Now I think I need to buy that specific pattern!

I love that Baylee is so realistic about how the house gets messy and actually shows us all the clutter. That’s probably odd of me to bring up but I love watching the before and after. I just like how realistic it is because social media tends to hide all the ugly stuff.

I would just say mark the tapes down $1 and not $2. Honestly don't think they need to be discounted at all though. They're still functional and work like a washi tape. And still adorable.
I agree! I don’t think the washi looks so bad for her to lose that much on the profit margins. But, it doesn’t look like her original so I can see why she’s pissed at the manufacturer.

By not getting the bags you are not making them use both plastic and styrofoam. You also have access to styrofoam recycling if I remember correctly, so it still seems like a net good. They would be using the styrofoam either way and it’s possible that they don’t recycle it

A hot drink on a hot day actually helps you control your body temp. I feel that when I’m stupid hot, if I level out my internal temp with the outside temp I don’t feel so overheated if that makes sense! It’s a weird thing but it for sure works for me! Loving the pins and even though I saw the dress during the live, it’s so beautiful!! The purple suits you colour wise

She probably doesn’t even notice but seeing her home “a mess” or “gross” makes me feel a bit better about my mess. Not because she’s messier than me but because she’s someone I admire and look up to so seeing that she’s not perfect about cleaning up after herself really is motivating! 💕

it terms of the styrofoam or tissue paper for shipping your pins, you’d have to think that they are already using the styrofoam to make the pins so either way it would be a waste so it’s just a matter of who wastes it. if that makes sense and i have correct understanding of everything
This was my thought! It's already being used to create the pins and it just going to Baylee to dispose of it. The plastic bags are just for Baylee so taking that step out does save some excess plastic.
Upon seeing how clean the styrofoam is, and the lack of multiple puncture holes, I feel like this is new, unused foam. I thought it would be reused, but I'm not convinced it is.

@@BayleeJae maybe they dont reuse it for some reason? Like if they try to stuff the pins in the same hole again and again the holes would get too big and itd slide maybe
That is my understanding too. The foam is used in the production anyways...so whether it's tossed out at some factory in China where it is doubtful they recycle anything or whether it comes to Canada to be recycled it's still single use foam and it is being used anyways. Removing the plastic doesn't mean they are adding foam to the whole process.

Another thing to consider with the Styrofoam method is that it does create more boxes, which is more to ship. The impact of that extra shipping on the environment is possibly more than the plastic baggies!
Having said that this method looks like it's much less work for you!

if the styrofoam is already in the production process i feel like it’s worth the extra boxes to cut down on extra waste. because even if they’re wrapped in paper, that’s more disposables being used in the big picture. anywho, loving the vlogs 🥰

They're your washies so you get to decide what you want, but I'd pay full price for them. Washi tape at some craft stores are 5-6 dollars a roll and yours are much cuter than the average options

Well for the Styrofoam instead of throwing it away/recycling it you could post it on Facebook marketplace for crafters because I know a lot of crafters use Styrofoam for crafts involving fake flowers. That way its getting used and not just getting wasted/filling up landfills.

I think the Styrofoam is ok because they are already using it in the production of the pin plus it cuts down on your time processing the pins which means more of your time can be used doing other things. I like to clean my cricut mats with a baby wipe. Its surprising how much gunk a baby wipe will take off the mat. Let it dry a few minutes and the sticky comes back pretty good. I have also used repositionable spray adhesive to restick my mats. Just tape off your mat and spray the adhesive on in a thin layer. let it dry and it works really well. if its too sticky you can always put the mat against a towel or i use my shirt and that takes some of the sticky away.

Didn't you say the manufacturer uses the styrofoam to produce the pins already anyways? Wouldn't be any additional packaging even paper or biodegradable be more waste no matter what? If the styrofoam is already used I would stick to that especially if it makes things easier for you. Plus I feel that the styrofoam would be "treated" better in Canada than in China, like Canada is most likely more responsible with it than China if you know what I mean. I would say no additional packaging and keeping the already used Styrofoam is more sustainable then to repackage in recyclable Materials. (wow ho often can you say styrofoam in a comment :D)

As for the styrofoam --
I, personally, wouldn't want the styrofoam just because it can't really be recycled (I'm super jealous of your area for having curbside recycling that takes the styrofoam!)
I know they already use the styrofoam during their production process and I see folks in the comments advocating for the styrofoam, but the styrofoam you got looks clean and barely used - which I would assume means they got clean material (probably unused in production) to package your pins up. In their factories, they'll reuse the same styrofoam boards over and over again - so getting new material is adding more waste to the overall pipeline. Even if it was used in production, new material has to be acquired by the factory to replace the foam they sent to you.
If you're trying to have a more eco-friendly & sustainable pipeline for yourself, I would definitely ask for tissue paper (some manus won't do it tho since it counts as exporting "trash"). I get my enamel pins wrapped in tissue paper - much better than all those baggies for sure! I know the styrofoam saves much more cause you don't have to take the clutches off, but I reuse the tissue paper in packaging orders - and like you said in the video, it's biodegradable!
The baggies, though annoying, can at least be recycled and/or reused! (And depending on the % of actual cellophane content, they may be biodegradable too.) For anyone reading the comments that's swimming in those baggies - they can be recycled/dropped off at plastic bag recycling (like at grocery stores). There are also lots of folks in FB pin groups that frequently ask for baggies from artists cause they use them for small items!

The Daisy girl and Mushroom girl are so so so beautiful. 😭 My manu sends my pins pushed into thick cardboard and it's great, but the tissue paper wrapped option is ok too.
yeah, you def should consider the impact shipping more boxes in total has on the amount of waste and polution! kind of strange the way they packed them, if its really all stuff that is used during production
I think since the styrofoam is used in the making of the pins, it's already better for the environment. You could use it as more packaging material, or as a backing for when you push the pins on their cards.
I will still buy the washi tape. 3$ or 3.50$ seems like a nice price for it. I will buy everything! I need to make a list and put aside some savings for this huge update!
