You boys could have been the next hunters after us. We hunted with bill in midtown late March 2024 this year. Very special place. Bill is very good at his job. How good is Russell his dog.
We all our trophies. 4 of us. 3 x fallows 1x red. I was lucky enough to get a chital over the hill from the house on the last afternoon. We took Russell one afternoon. Then on way home Bill pulls up and Russell gets out and runs flat out home for about 2kms. Funny as. What a place.
I really enjoyed filming and editing this one, we worked hard to capture it all. Gotta give a huge thank you to Bill for really giving us the best he can give with his hospitality and eagerness to help us get what we needed to make this magic happen.
@@BoereworsRoll Thanks, been working on improving every video to compound my abilities, we have some fun plans for the Queensland trip. Looking forward to working with you again, it will be a great one!
Haha, it was madness there. We were hunting in Water Valley which is a large collection of cattle stations, 116,000+ acres all connected together and surrounded by a high fence. It's a very unique place. Not somewhere I'd want to hunt regularly. I love my state forest. But well worth exploring for a unique hunting experience. There is nowhere else like it in Australia.
grouse edit an production here Chris, captivating footage. awesome to see fallow deer in good numbers of Bucks v does, if everyone in the state forests didnt shoot the first buck they got in on grunting we too could experience magic as it happens.... unfortunatly, too many young bucks being shot every April means we will never see this kind of thing in the true wild. weird times. enjoying the new video styles..... warm barrels.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement HillDog, i appreciate it. It would be awesome to see this kind of display in SF. I personally don't mind new hunters taking a young buck, but anyone who has hunted for a decent amount of time should have the restraint and wisdom to let them go. I hunt for meat, so a doe/hind is always a win. Thank you again for your encouragement brother.
You hunt very well I watch your videos everyday I love all your videos your rifle is very good I also have 2 rifles one is .22lr the other is .256.cal Manlicher W.J Jeffrey 6.5×53 and one is a Spain shot gun AYA It is side by side
Great video!! Old mates a bit of a dude.👍 Would you be able to tell me the scope you’ve got on there? Hope the hunts been going well. All the best mate. 👍
Hey Rich. Bill is a legend haha. The scope is the Burris Eliminator 5. It's a fantastic scope. It takes into account your distance from your target via an internal range finder as well as your bullets co efficient and altitude and move the reticle to where you should be pointing. Pretty sweet.
When hunting alone i like to chamber a round and hold back the trigger when closing the bolt then only have to lift and close the bolt to be ready. This is pretty silent
Hi Rodney. Where I'm from we call that a 'dead bolt'. I agree with you, it's both a great way to ensure your rifle is safe and also allow for a silent engagement. Thanks for sharing mate!
Hey Chris, another great video mate. What calibre are you using and the name of the place you were shooting on? I would definitely like to get onto it.
Hoggies are probably the hardest to go after. Not because they are particularly cunning, Just because there is a limited season (one month), they are a small deer (they get easily lost in the bush) and because the only way to hunt them is sit in a blind for days.
I like bolt locked forward onto a confirmed empty chamber, trigger held as the bolt locks down do there's no way a round can be collected or that the bolt can fire regardless. A retracted bolt could potentially collect a round, catch on something and damage the bolt or fall out.
I'm a big fan of the 'dead bolt' configuration too. It's how i hunt when I'm alone. But when hunting with others it does pay to make sure everyone is comfortable and knows the condition of the rifle. This is the only draw back of the dead bolt set up in my opinion. There is no way to know from the outside whether there is a round in the chamber or not. Great points though. Thank you for sharing :)
Great video, mate. The production level has gone from strength to strength and so has your hosting skills! Loved the video; loved the stag! I'm looking forward to hunting with you guys again soon!
Thanks KC. I really appreciate the encouragement brother! I can't wait to get out with you too. I think it's the hunt I am most looking forward to this year :)
@@Thehuntsmanshow I bet. I heard my first croaks this year although I was a little early and they weren't fully fired up yet it was still a cool experience. Can't even imagine hearing the roar at the same time plus running into chital.
Ah man, hearing any croak is pretty good. Such a crazy time of the year. This was on private property. I haven't heard a red deer roar on public land yet. That will be pretty special when it happens.
Love your video. My only negative comment is that you should get rid of the background music, because it makes it very hard to hear you talk and also to the stags croaking.
Good feedback Alan, I appreciate it. Sometimes i feel the pressure to add background music to help "set the scene" but I'm starting to trust the content more and let important sections just play out with the audio captured via the camera. For the episode that releases at the end of this month the entire stalk doesn't have any music. Which I think is the right call rather than try and fabricate tension. Thank you again for the feedback Alan. Chris
Haha, TRUE! But while I still have hair I'm inclined to keep it. It will all go one day and I'm not the kind of person to live with regrets. But yes, you are right. I do need a hair cut lol.

Thank you Josh. Bill does have a lot of knowledge on deer. He also has a pretty impressive joke catalogue haha 😂

Spot on. There was some really good chemistry on that trip. I think it comes out in the video too.

Glad you enjoyed it Lawson. We had a lot of fun making this one.

Close. It's 30.06 :) brilliant firearm for small, medium and large deer

Hi Rodger. I was shooting with a 30.06. If you reach out via the form on www.thehuntsman.com.au i can tell you more about the location :)
That’s watervalley SA.
Shooting on water valley. It’s a high fence game reserve in South Australia.
I love to watch your content mate! Always a treat to se you upload.
How about going after a Rusa or Hoggie next?👀
We just got back from a Hoggie and Duck combo hunt. And im hoping to have a crack at the Rusa in June :) so you'll just have to wait and see haha
@@Thehuntsmanshow Bloody awsome! Also as a non-australian hunter may I ask how challenging is it to go after Hoggies?

@Thehuntsmanshow the guys I hunt with do the same, its standard to demonstrate an empty chamber before sliding the bolt in.

Amazing .. 🤩
Thank you Ahsan :)
I thought the South Australian government pushed hard to cull all deer from the state, including forcing farms to eradicate all deer from their land?
They have, and continue to do so. This is pretty much the only property who is refusing and putting up a fight.
