Hey, Late to the party, but very invested in the series. I had a question about the solo singer mics. Would there be any objections to using DPA style headsets instead of glueing the mic to the performer, or are there any obvious clues I’m missing here? Thanks.
Dear Lennaert. Thanks for your interest. From the technical side a headset has the benefit that you can prevend sweat going inside the microphone compared to the glued version. Besides that technically there will not be such a big difference. But the difference is on the optical side. In operas it is common to hide the microphone, wether in wigs, glasses or make-up. This is not possible with headsets.
