It was never Pakistani history, it was Indian culture because the Mughals ruled before the existence of Pakistan or even the idea of two separate states on the basis of religion, it does not lie in our hands to separate history and culture; ones which were ironically inseparable. I'm saying this as a Pakistani, if only actors referred to historical context or were even aware of it before they vented about their own failures on a large platform.

As an Indian Punjabi, I want the say that Lahore was part of India before partition but I also can’t deny the fact that Lahore was the capital of united Punjab where people used to speak in punjabi and following their punjabi culture but In series they haven’t shown punjabi culture at all.

As a Pakistani, I enjoyed SLB. The point of the show is storytelling rather than historical accuracy. None of SLB's movies were historically accurate either, I had no expectation this time regarding that. It was a good show.

Heramandi name is used incorrectly by Sanjey. Hera was a prime minister of Lahore appointed by Ranjeet Sing. Hera made an area for grain business which was biggest business of that times. So that area got the name of Heramandi.

Lahore was once an integral part of undivided India and considered multicultural and cosmopolitan. Also, after the Mughals, it was the capital of the Sikh empire till 1849. The series is portrayed in the 1940s. And it has nothing to do with Islam, ideology or real history. It hasn't disrespected any religion. It's just a fiction written by Moin Baig and directed by SLB. Also, Pakistanis can always make a film/series on any of the Indian epics. It was Sir Richard Attenborough, a brit who directed Gandhi.

No way. We have way better film actors in India. And SLB is an Indian Film maker. He shows the culture & heritage of INDIA in his periodic films/series be it any religion. And he tries to give full justice. And we Indians are very happy and proud of it.

Anyone can make movie of any country. Pakistani Directors are most welcome to make Mahabharat. They were also part of the history. Taxila has an important role in Indian history. Prejudieces have to be removed at both India and Pakistan we have to accept and embrace our common history and anyone has liberty to make what is art. It was not Indian culture. Hindu/Sikh culture/traditions were always distinguishable from that of Muslims even when they lived together. Adopting traditions from cultures is one thing, but to say it is theirs is politically incorrect. Eg. Pakistani brides wear yellow on mayon, which is an adopted hindu tradition. we adopted it, but its not ours!
Heeramandi is similar to the Archies which was also created by Indians depicting a culture/language of another ethnic/religious group. its like making an American harry potter films when the whole HP franchise, author etc. are/were british.. u know what I mean? there's no wrong or right, its just inappropriate in the sense that they are depicting a culture (lakhnawi dresses/ pishawaz, dialects, history) which was originally never theirs. this is a fact; opinions don't change facts.
P.S just because two communities lived together doesn't mean they are same. our religions, values, dresses, food/meat, even the languages differed, and because these differences became so profound that the 2-Nation Theory was proposed.

Pakistani negative reactions are based on two factors. The locale is Lahore, and the characters are Muslim. Because of these two the Pakistanis feel that they have the ownership of this narrative and the Muslims are shown in an unflattering light. Jahillon, at time period there was no Pakistan. The story has nothing to do with Muslims or Hindus. It is just a period drama. The Bengal zamindari culture, with many Hindus, has similar risqué stories. Grow up people.
