I've seen this and the first part multiple times and I did read if on a winters night a traveller and I loved it! I love what this vdo brings. Kanan's perspective towards things is so clear and interesting. Please bring him again ❤
Love how much Kanan knows despite not having studied Literature. Really liked this episode. I would recommend J.M. Coetzee's Foe to everyone interested in meta-fiction. Talking about unreliable narrators, my favourite would be Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains of the Day.
The Robert Frost bit was so funny 😂😂 All you guys have such great taste in books, and kanan's taste was like really unexpected!! Loved these 2 episodes.. Keep the botcasts coming!
Have to say, this channel for me is just a treasure. Don't know how I managed to complete four episodes on a workday. You guys don't seem to care for it but I'm on a philosophy kick these days so it would be nice to see it covered in at least one episode 😀
You guys should get rohan joshi. I think, just like kanan, he'll make me feel insecure about my extent of knowledge and still, just like this one, I'll love that BoTcast too.
I guess most of you poem junkies know this, but this shiz about Robert Frost was something I got blown away by. Everybody reads and teaches us that Frost's comments on taking the less travelled road (from Road Not Taken, obviously) signifies how daring originality and ingenuity is something that should be appreciated. However, the accurate interpretation is that humans have an intrinsic nature to lament (or praise) over our insignificant decisions in the past and cite them as what caused change in their lives. It's trying to convey that our choices don't matter, and it doesn't matter what road you take, because you're always going to regret not taking the other one. The consequence of human freedom and choice is inevitable regret. P.S.: And to any postmodernists out there who'll claim there aren't any objective interpretations to art, shove it.
Ha man I exaggerated my dissent for effect. I don't get heated while arguing (generally). However, I stand by my position; postmodernism is largely bollocks. I don't mind listening to opposing views though.
please talk about the books that you read as teenagers!! would be really helpful since boards are coming up and people wouldn't have much to do later 😄😊 by the way, totally love this bodcast idea!! really looking forward to watching more of these!!
Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amy Kaufman is a space opera novel and it only narrates through classified documents, censory emails, interviews etc and its amazing!
Alice recites "you are old Father William" to the caterpillar in Alice in wonderland. And also Solitary Reaper is by William Wordsworth. (yuck) This punderwoman(anuyeahh) is absolutely lovely, so is sharin with her cute fringes. Kanan "TOH HAI HI PYAR."
I just loved the episode!! I love the way kanan speak and feeling very jealous that how could one be hv such knowledge 😅❤ Regretting fo being late to watch this video 😅
This is excellent.... I have been on the lookout for books to read, and now I don't have to be a pain in my friends' arse for recommendations.......also the banter is pretty entertaining!... Kudos!
I love books and you guys have a Great show Anuya and Sharin... do put up an episode with Abish or Archana! also... that "not-so-discreet" nudge to anuya by kanan to clap for sharin was :p
Chuck Pahlaniuk is magical! And I got into his work with Guts! It’s actually my favourite. It’s disturbing yet all his work is like that, crazy and fascinating!
I just read 'Guts' and it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Well written but not 'OMG, so gory' as the good people on the BoTcast and the comment section made it out to be. I don't know. Am I the only one who thinks this?
My read on the cast after watching just these two episodes Anuya: She has an individualistic personality, not getting threatened by what others think about her, open to learning new stuff and having fun Kanan: Seems like he knows a lot about this genre and in general about literature, is a funny guy joking at someone else's choices with a healthy sense of respect Sharin: Irritating af.
Awesome video guys! You guys talked about GoT and World War Z for having separate narrative styles and in report forms, and didn't talk about Bram Stoker's Dracula or Sophie's World? How could that happen?
Btw BoT, Kanan had mentioned on Facebook that he has an Excel sheet where he jots down a list of books he has read. Would you mind pressing him to post it somewhere (or could you post it for him)? The guy seems to have forgotten all about it.
Some Recommendations - Kenny Sabastian , Daniel Fernandez, Kautuk Shrivastav , Navile Shah , Karan from SNG , Biswapati Sarkar (plzzzz) , G. Khambha Call these people please.
"Road not taken" is the name of the poem written by Robert frost that you guys are talking about..... kudos to you girls... you both are amazing I love you guys.♥
how about a BoTcast on English literature books taught in schools?, particularly icse books like 'merchant of Venice' and Julius Caesar, or great expectations n other classics? even i read it in 6th or 7th standard(Merchant of Venice) and Julius Caesar in 9th and had a fantastic teacher who did justice to it.... but i found both of them pretty awesome largely due to my fantastic teacher mrs menon... Julius Caesar and merchant of Venice added a whole new dimension to my choice of books... maybe because i studied both the latin and its english translation... :)
Anuya, I read chick lit on the Kindle so that nobody can see and judge. Books which make me look cool are never read on a Kindle. Also gypsy goddess by Meena Kandasamy breaks form in many ways. It actually breaks the wall between the writer and the reader. I didn't complete it but was thoroughly intrigued
Point of philosophy is not self indulgence but precisely understanding the nature of reality. People like Sartre and Simone de beauvoir they are just from a particular school of thought and from particular approach to philosophy called continental philosophy.
Earnest request to call Rohan Joshi on the show!! I recently read a book on astrophysics he suggested on Snapchat and would love to hear more about what he's got to say :) Also, Khamba coz he also comes across as someone who's well read :D
I just read guts. Halfway through the story, I was super scared that the guy will somehow end up facing the suction and end up getting his junk suctioned. Although what happened was scary enough, I was a little disappointed but extremely glad that my hunch didn't come true😂
Sidin on this show would be interesting. Would love to see others like Shashi Tharoor, and many other personalities. Do their favourite books rather than genres
Hey, I really like Murakami's Kafka On The Shore.I found it really riveting. By the way, thanks for the link, just read Guts- yeah, it's gross and cringey to highest degree, but I would read this sort of fiction again, if available.
loved kanan's - guns'n'roses reference love the vdos btw :) please publish more ( p.s. "water water every where" is rime of the ancient mariner - STC ( havent read the poem but iron maiden wrote a song on it) :)
Oh so that's how Chuck's last name is pronounced. Finally! P.S. Sense is an Ending is one of the most brilliant books. P.P.S You should've covered Sputnik Sweetheart as well.
You guys should do a top10 vid occasionally, it would be fun to watch it.... like top 10 books that have horrible movies, top 10 books that scare the crap out of you.... PS: Love your concept of botcast, it's fresh and simple which kinda makes it awesome.
Hey guys! Can you do an episode on biographies/autobiographies? I've loved the Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Malala Yousafzai biographies (hahah too predictable, I know!), but I need some good recommendations.
Hi Anuya... when you said that you don't like Salman Rushdie then it's clear that you are aware of powerful imaginative literature. Salman Rushdie writes descriptive literature, he has fallen into pieces to gather the minute details. You much read his The Moor's last sigh. He has astounding hyperbolic approach for his work. You can pick any of his work and you can sense the superlative imagination. He described India in midnight children, but if you will go by facts( history or geography) you will not find such India, its his imagination that make you think that. And this is same in Satanic verses also. I think you should really understand his work before saying that cos it's just similar to say that Beethoven music is dumb...
Why only English literature? Though I loved thoroughly everything you guys have discussed so far. And got many of them in my 'books to read' list. I know English literature is so damn enriched that one can never read everyfuckingthing. But we got so much of excellent content in Hindi Literature too. And we cannot just keep that aside. PS: You should invite Rohan Joshi, he must have some kickass insights for literature and books.
I completely agree Yogesh. There's so much diversity in literature in all languages. We'll try to cover as much as we can :-) Any recommendations on what all we can read in Hindi Lit to start off with
Wow, loved 'Guts'! So gory!!! On that note, I would recommend all to read an anthology collection curated by Chuck Palahniuk- 'Burnt Tongues'. If you loved/hate-loved 'Guts', you'll definitely feel the same about this one, only many times (as many stories).:-D You were warned!
Kanan, you are an amazing reader...you should start your Pretentious Book Review Series..since u know so much
anyone who knew kanan's love for books before botcast or is it me to discover this the first time!!
This channel has reached a whole new level!
I've seen this and the first part multiple times and I did read if on a winters night a traveller and I loved it! I love what this vdo brings. Kanan's perspective towards things is so clear and interesting. Please bring him again ❤
Why does this guy make me feel so insecure? How can someone know about so many things?
Nagma Dhingra Yaar, your question goes so well with your dp !
mecytotoxic I look insecure in my dp?
mecytotoxic or dumb?
He is fucking smart. We are always jealous.
No! just that quizzical expression on your face.
"Post Modernism smells like whatever yo think" 😂😂😂😂 dead!!
Love how much Kanan knows despite not having studied Literature. Really liked this episode. I would recommend J.M. Coetzee's Foe to everyone interested in meta-fiction. Talking about unreliable narrators, my favourite would be Kazuo Ishiguro's Remains of the Day.
Read Disgrace by J.M. Coetzee! It’s amazing
I just read Guts. Thanks, now I can finish all my assignments on time because I don't have to worry about sleep anymore. :')
You women are doing a good job! It's interesting listening to different perspectives and also getting to know about authors otherwise unheard of.
Thank you for your kind words :)
The Robert Frost bit was so funny 😂😂
All you guys have such great taste in books, and kanan's taste was like really unexpected!! Loved these 2 episodes.. Keep the botcasts coming!

You guys should get rohan joshi. I think, just like kanan, he'll make me feel insecure about my extent of knowledge and still, just like this one, I'll love that BoTcast too.
We're working on it :D
It would be awesome if you could get Daniel Fernandes, I think he'd have a good sense of books. 🤓
kanan! just blown away by your intelligence.
A golden chance to get hugely inspired by you!
lovely.
hats off!
loved this series... specifically these two episodes with Kanan
Intro and outro music is just TOO LOUD than the interview part!! Please do something about it
I guess most of you poem junkies know this, but this shiz about Robert Frost was something I got blown away by.

Xavy Johnson Tomy hey man why can't you accept that different people have different viewpoints - there's no need to be so aggressive

Watch Rashomon directed by Akira Kurosawa if you like post modern films. And also sopranos HBO series.
Kanan is a Potterhead.❤❤
Sia Fangirl Sia!!!
sierraromeomike ikr.😂
Alice recites "you are old Father William" to the caterpillar in Alice in wonderland.
And also Solitary Reaper is by William Wordsworth. (yuck)
This punderwoman(anuyeahh)
is absolutely lovely,
so is sharin with her cute fringes.
Kanan "TOH HAI HI PYAR."

Look's like the Italo Calvino book reminded her of Frost's Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. Great video btw!
yeah, never mind, she figures it out by the end.
Swopnil Kalika Hahahhaha.
I just read 'Guts' and it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Well written but not 'OMG, so gory' as the good people on the BoTcast and the comment section made it out to be.
I don't know. Am I the only one who thinks this?
Same
Nothing scarier than the fear of being underwhelmed
Kanan you are so awesome and we share so many favourites! Italo Calvino is my God 💕😍
My read on the cast after watching just these two episodes
Anuya: She has an individualistic personality, not getting threatened by what others think about her, open to learning new stuff and having fun
Kanan: Seems like he knows a lot about this genre and in general about literature, is a funny guy joking at someone else's choices with a healthy sense of respect
Sharin: Irritating af.

Read guts. I am scarred for life. Thank you.

Could you recommend something along the lines of "GUTS"?
Awesome video guys! You guys talked about GoT and World War Z for having separate narrative styles and in report forms, and didn't talk about Bram Stoker's Dracula or Sophie's World? How could that happen?
Btw BoT, Kanan had mentioned on Facebook that he has an Excel sheet where he jots down a list of books he has read. Would you mind pressing him to post it somewhere (or could you post it for him)? The guy seems to have forgotten all about it.
Will ask him for sure
Any update on the list?
I think Maanvi Gagroo is also a reader. She might also make a good guest!
Some Recommendations - Kenny Sabastian , Daniel Fernandez, Kautuk Shrivastav , Navile Shah , Karan from SNG , Biswapati Sarkar (plzzzz) , G. Khambha
Call these people please.
"Road not taken"
is the name of the poem written by Robert frost that you guys are talking about.....

Anuya and Sharin, please read the book The Sound and the Fury by Faulkner. I would include it on my list of "Unusual Books"
Ooh this is such an awesome recommendation. Thank you. (And Anuya says SAME.)
You guys should check out Sleeping Giants. Written in the same style as World War Z

Point of philosophy is not self indulgence but precisely understanding the nature of reality. People like Sartre and Simone de beauvoir they are just from a particular school of thought and from particular approach to philosophy called continental philosophy.
you guys deserve more subscribers. even though I am not an avid reader. I can still enjoy the conversation. are you guys on sound cloud?

I feel dumb, happy and extremely sad for not having read so much at one go!!..FYI Loved the BoT Cast
I'm so surprised to see this side of Kanan!!

Sartre is the father of school of existentialism, you should give it a try to live passionate depressing life.
Wow, loved 'Guts'! So gory!!! On that note, I would recommend all to read an anthology collection curated by Chuck Palahniuk- 'Burnt Tongues'. If you loved/hate-loved 'Guts', you'll definitely feel the same about this one, only many times (as many stories).:-D
You were warned!
Oh dear. We're going to regret this no?
Books on Toast yes, you are! Haha!

Suggestion #2. Try not to give away spoilers.
PS: Kanan, I louve you.
Sharon is so cute.. nd her voice is so innocent!..
