It would also be a good idea to take technical writing in college and create a style guide for your game. Also, create or buy a proprietary font so that you don't mix fonts by mistake, but also gives you an additional way to sue people for stealing your card game.

Tough to make a unique tcg. There are so much out there that just focusing on one new mechanic has probably been done by someone else. Instead of focusing on a new mechanic, I like to focus on emotions I want my players to experience. People don’t play games for the mechanic. They play for the emotions that the whole mixture brings out. For example magic the gathering with feelings of progression, cleverness, tension, etc. To tie into your last point: making cards simpler lets the player enjoy the strategy more and feel more in control by not having to read the rules too much.
Most tcgs bring up similar emotions but by knowing what the mechanics are actually for can help you along your design journey.
Great video, these are definitely the best tips

Emotion is so important. Our personal experience in a game is what makes it special. You make an excellent point.

"We created an unbalanced game" made me laugh pretty hard. I know you're making a valid point about design, it was just a funny flex in the moment 😭

Just turning a negative into a positive. I'd rather have had a better balanced game, of course 😅

Tabletop simulator has been great for playtesting. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm currently creating a TCG. Here are some suggestions for future videos, things I will need to know in the future that I haven't found much information on:
    1. List of Ethical A.I. to use in production of a CCG and list of other card creation tools.
    2. Best ways to find artists that suit the theme of my game and ones I can afford! (If you have 300 cards to construct and each piece of art costs $300, with box art and everything else, that can end up being $100,000!)
    3. Options for printing cards, reliable ones! Seen a couple in China, but have no idea how they compare!
    4. How much to expect to pay for card production. I can't find one person that shared their estimate or actual printing costs! Just a ballpark would be nice!
    5. Choices in fulfillment!
    6. Advice for the next release in the set!
    7. Advice on structuring a successful TCG company if you ever get that far!
    8. Printing you TCG in other languages and handling foreign distribution!
I work a good 40 hours or more a week on my TCG, aside from my day job, staying up to 2 or 3 in the morning!
It's been a long road and there is still a long road ahead, appreciate the help!

I have plans to pursue number 3, which will naturally cover number 4 of your list, as well. It will take time to receive orders, but hopefully, I have some helpful information to share at the end of it.
