All praises to you, Finn, not only for amazing vlogs featuring the wonders of the Philippine islands and its inhabitants BUT most specially for the environmental and humanitarian causes you are engaged in. Kudos to Sherlyn, also helping to protect our seas and oceans by eradicating the Crown of Thorns (COTs) w/c totally destroy coral reefs and whole eco-system w/c leads too to starving fisherfolks. More power to you, guys!💕
Congratulations Finn and Sherlyn! You guys are doing an amazing job! And Finn thank you for loving the Philippines even though it’s not your country but you have shown great love and affection just like your very own and for that thank you in behalf of all the filipinos. I pray for your great success in your journey and to Sherlyn too as well and oh Jake too! God bless

Crown-Of-Thorns Starfish (Acanthaster planci) The name of this species is fairly clear. The spines covering its upper surface make it look like, well, you know. Those spines are also venomous, which aid it in its quest for world domination. Found over a wide range in subtropical waters, from the Red Sea to across the Indian Ocean, and across the Pacific Ocean to the western coast of Central America, this species preys on coral polyps. As one of the largest starfish in the world, it has a voracious appetitive. When numbers are low, crown-of-thorns starfish help boost the biodiversity of coral reefs by preying on the fastest growing coral species. But if their populations become too high, they can wreak havoc on coral reefs. Their population booms are due in part from human fishing of and collection of their natural predators, the humphead wrasse and triton snail.

I agree to what you've said Finn 👍 We should save oceans, rivers, seas, help locals and local fishermen. We can only find abundant and beautiful marine wildlife in the Southern part of the PH (visayas and mindanao). Life in the province is different from the main city. In province, you can survive and eat without a job. YHWH God has given and provided us everything we need💕 All we have to do is take care of it. 😉👍

It is toxic to the starfish itself because starfishes and other echinoderms are quite bad at regulating internal pH. Vinegar works by increasing acidity inside the body cavity of the starfish, which causes the cells to also lower their pH, disrupting membranes and cell processes. The lower pH of the cell cytosol causes the membranes of the lysosome (the "stomach" of the cell) to fall apart, spilling more acid which rips apart DNA and proteins from within the cell. The cells basically disintegrate one by one. This in turn causes the immune system of the starfish to overreact (basically an "allergic" reaction), causing even more damage and dramatic tissue death on the starfish. It doesn't work if you just spray vinegar at them, because the seawater would quickly neutralize the acidity of vinegar. It works because it is injected. The injection hole is too small for vinegar to escape into the seawater, so it is concentrated inside the starfish doing maximum damage. But as the starfish dies, holes of dead tissue allow the vinegar to escape into the seawater which in turn, neutralizes it. The starfish corpse can then actually be eaten by scavengers with no ill effects, including by fish and other species of starfish and echinoderms. Lime juice also works in the same way.
Love this video a lot. Very educational. 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you for sharing your knowledge, doing some community works & by promoting Philippines. Daghang salamat. I hope I can visit again the Amazing Alegria. 💖💖💖
Thank you both for helping in eliminating these destructive and deadly Crown of Thorns proud of you both and everyone who is doing this very important task , your right in what you say its paramount for the livelihood of many good honest fishermen as these coral areas help keep the oceans healthy and full of many species of tropical fish that otherwise would also become extinct. I hope those who iliegally dynamite area's to get fish stop and start to wake up and realize the damage they also do to the oceans environment because they also are destructive in what they do . thank you both again take care .
