Fantastic documentary a good insight into a world that doesn’t really exist anymore. Makes me feel proud and fortunate to be a solid plasterer.

I am proud to call myself a fine Solid Plasterer of Melbourne, and to have had the opportunity to have had great craftsmen pass onto me their knowledge. I have worked on many heritage listed buildings around our great city and enjoy passing the work i have done and restored. I have made many wonderful friends in the industry and have had privilege to become a trade teacher, teaching the Solid Plastering apprentices of Holmesglen TAFE. I take pride in my work, love every element about it, the hand made tools to the quiet, non machine routine involved. I now have a young son who is a sponge for information, wanting to learn my teachings, and that makes it all full circle. A very happy man, Thank you.

Good on you mate. Do you hold any credence to tartaria? As in your a holder of the old knowledge, one that’s lost or in the process of being lost so perhaps we have lost the plot?? Have you watched Jon Levi ? I’d love to know what you think. Cheers and thanks for your craft

      Hey there Paul
I’m curious if you have any information or knowledge on the repair work done to the Collingwood Town Hall?
      Thanks Sebastian

They weren't just plasterers, they were sculptors and artists.
    Thanks for sharing 🙂

If only the people using that building today fully appreciated the skill and integrity of the men who built and then later restored it.

Don’t find to many young guys getting into this profession anymore. A dying breed.

    Watching from new zealand.
This makes me think of my first employer. He was irish. Hes had a big impact on my working life. He was a straight shooter type of guy with a big dollop of asshole but he was very fair. Steered me in good direction about how to think and use my young brain. To this day I havent met anyone as productive as he was. Boss. Admin. Sales. That was the whole gig.Just him and 2 grpups pf four workers.Never missed our pay. Never had no work. Paid good money. No H and S bc. Just get on with it.Roofing was our trade.

I don't feel so daunted now about casting my own plaster ceiling roses from the one remaining Original.

Absolutely priceless work. Are there still tradesmen about that can do this sort of work?
