Hell yea. From the time I discovered Dilla in 6th grade - unfortunately only due to his passing in February of that year, through high school having his sh*t on repeat in the car on rides with friends at basically all times, to college years where me and a few friends would pick apart his beats and arrange them with a full band + horns in the university recording studio that we would get time in for free in exchange to playing different parts or working on whatever for other friend’s projects who were recording majors…shit I was just listening to Dilla this morning! And mad people love his music who half the time don’t even know he made the beat! RIP Dilla man…idk if I would even have the love that I do for music if I never came across his catalog.
Dilla was and still is the greatest producer ever lived. He'll live forever. J Dilla/Jay Dee was a mastermind of building the best beats ever! Great Genius and Innovator. A good composer of beats!
It will last many many lifetimes, my words can barley begin to express what this man has left behind for us all, he unlocked me spiritually through his sound and freedom! Dilla is my religion Dilla forever!!!!
My favorite producer ever, one of the biggest reasons as to why I want to make beats. Art is a passion of mine and I'm going to college to be a graphic designer, but if I feel I don't want to do that down the road, I would definitely want to start creating more beats, and Dilla is a big aspiration as to why I would do that! No one can replicate his work, but his beautiful beats are timeless. R.I.P. James Yancey, you were gone too soon.
Dilla... Man what can I say except THANK YOU. I've Loved your music since 94' when I was in high school. You influenced me... Recently in a BIG studio session, I was compared to you. I couldn't even contain my feelings on the drive home... You are and forever will be the greatest...
Along with Marvin Gaye, and Jammerson on bass....Dilla along with Funk brothers of Motown...and Hamilton Bohannon....these are all my inspirations...and all I can say is ...you gotta do YOU!
This is real inspiration, Dilla is really one of my favorites and I am so sad he didn’t get a chance to continue to live life and continue his musical evolution
What people have to understand it was a Natural Gift. Everybody in this world is great at something J Dilla was lucky to discovers his at the right time. Making a Hit! in 20mins is Incredible. R.I.P to the Greatest on the Beats. J DILLA!
B.Kyle, Thank you for this! Checked the full version elsewhere online and it was a well spent 39 minutes and change. Excellently done! For the past year plus I've been thinking that something like this needs to be made to help pay tribute to one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time, J Dilla. This has helped satisfy my need to digest as much Dilla-related content as possible. I appreciate that this is given away for free as I would have gladly paid money for it. Turn It Up! RIP Dilla
DILLA I LOVE YOU. You have made me love hip hop so much more and you are my biggest inspiration. Rest in beats. James Yancey, The greatest to ever do it
Trapped in a dungeon of plastic and machine, bobbin' and bouncing, livin' and lovin'... That's how I wanna be. God Bless You J Dilla ♥. The world lost a musical genius.
How come nobody knows J Dilla? I mean when I ask in general here in Sweden, not many outside or even inside Hip Hop music do know this cat. He deserves more listeners, because what he put together no one has heard before or after. But I ain't blaming anybody, I bet there's tons of music I haven't even heard of lol
Zinskey Ey man! I'm from Sweden, and Dilla's like my no 1 idol. I feel the same thing, you've got to find your people, the Dilla heads. Hälsningar från Skåne ;)
J Dilla may have changed peoples lives, even the Hip Hop game, but He was at a younger time, and those who wernt deeply into the Jazzy Hip Hop type music like he made, wouldn't know who he is. Its a shame though, Dilla will forever be a God RIP Dilla
Ijust recently found out / realized J.Dilla's the mastermind behind 98 % of the music i LOVE... Now I'm trying to figure out the name of the track that kicks in at 8h37.... I WANT IT!!! RIP James Yancey aka J.DILLA = G.O.A.T.
HE DIDN'T SAVE MINE HE'S ONE REASON HE HELPED IMPROVE MINE AND MY DIGGING SKILLS,I HAVE EVEN BETTER TASTE DUE TO THE STUFF DILLA CAUGHT AT THOSE RECORD SPOTS. REST IN POWER DILLA DOG YOU'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! AND YEAH WORK ETHIC STARTS IN THE BASEMENT STAY HUNGRY!!!!!!!
Been around tha Jay Dee block a bit . I've heard all the beats in this video except , 10:50 & 11:11 . Those joints are brand new to me . Any1 know their names , or where I can get them ?
I think him and Black Milk have some great beats. BMs Purple Tape or whatever from Purple Rain's soundtrack was sick as fuck. I've only discovered Apollo Brown through that Dice Game joint with Guilty Simpson

Maybe that's a good thing, man. You can be the one to spread the word and introduce people to the best music they've never heard of.
Actually never thought like that except when it comes to my own music :) But you're totally right, more cats should be learning from Dilla
Zinskey Ey man! I'm from Sweden, and Dilla's like my no 1 idol. I feel the same thing, you've got to find your people, the Dilla heads.
