      yh sadly that was exactly what was thinking but they are read the second point from this
      SOURCE: www.gov.uk/find-out-if-i-can-buy-or-carry-a-knife
      Knives that are illegal
      There is a complete ban on the sale of some knives:
      .flick knives (also called ‘switchblades’ or ‘automatic knives’) - where the blade is hidden inside the handle and shoots out when a button is pressed
      .butterfly knives - where the blade is hidden inside a handle that splits in two around it, like wings; the handles swing around the blade to open or close it
      .disguised knives - eg where the blade is hidden inside a belt buckle or fake mobile phone
      .gravity knives
      .sword-sticks
      .samurai swords (with some exceptions, including antiques and swords made to traditional methods before 1954)
      .hand or foot-claws
      .push daggers
      .hollow kubotan (cylinder-shaped keychain) holding spikes
      .shuriken (also known as ‘death stars’ or ‘throwing stars’)
      .kusari-gama (sickle attached to a rope, cord or wire)
      .kyoketsu-shoge (hook-knife attached to a rope, cord or wire)
      .kusari (weight attached to a rope, cord or wire)
      This is not a complete list of banned knives. Contact your local police to check if a knife is illegal or not.

      I was just talking about how stupid UK laws towards knives are. You know you're laws are shit if a burglar can threaten you with a knife but you basically can't use anything to defend yourself.

    • @jeremypaulskinner
      @jeremypaulskinner 10 років тому

      Good chance that the laws in the UK will be like how they are in Australia in that you can have a folding knife that is apart of a tool i.e pocket knife. The point of making these knives illegal was so that burglars, as the above post put it, won't have access to these. I'm not saying I agree, that's just the political rationale.

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover 15 років тому

    that is called a t latch, i have the same kinda one, it is usaully found on cheaper knives and can get in the way some times. With the twirl, when you do the last move to twirl it back, the latch can get between the two handles but once you get goos at it, you should be able to twirl fast enough to where this is no longer a problem.

    Balisong is a butterfly knife. here in the philippines, it only costs about 100-150php (about 2.50 dollars) ( and if bought from its origin province, batangas). Better check first if this kind of knife is legal in your place because in some place it is illegal.

    It's called a "Trainer" balisong. Cutlerylover has some reviews on these special practice knives, and you can find them online for about 12-18 USD. Since they don't have sharpened blades, they don't count as knives of any kind and are thus exempt from knife laws.

    I used to handle balisongs back in college, but it had been a few years and I decided to purchase the Bradley Kimura. I must say, after a little lubricating of the hinges and working it out, it's a really fun knife; I notice when I do this move (and some others) I have a tendency to want to turn my hand and do the move sideways instead of frontways -- is this something I should try to correct or just go with?

    Neat stuff, and very informative. Hell, I searched for butterfly knife not even knowing it was called a Balisong. After spending an hour twirling my knife around while watching a movie I can do the first move pretty confidently and can do the first half of the second one. The whole "bite edge around the thumb twirl and spin to grip" part is a little daunting at the moment. Now I have to go find people to impress.

    Do you know if there's any tool like a balisong, but without a blade? you know, like a toy, or something?
    I really want to do stuff like this, but without having to do it with an actual weapon/tool.

    I'm looking to get a real knife now (i've been practicing with a dulled trainer i got off ebay) but I don't have the money for something a great as a benchmade... I'm looking for something around $40, but I can't seem to find anything. I'm only seeing cheapos, and things past the $150 range. is there any middle ground you know of?
