In the West, hearing a song performed live for the first time... you can't wait to hear the recorded version because you know it would sound better. In the Philippines, its the other way around.. you hear a record and you can't wait to hear it live. Welcome to the rabbit hole of great under appreciated artists (in terms of worldwide recognition) of the Philippines. #Ifonlytheworldknew
I super love this wish bus performance too so I'm ecstatic to see you react to this! 😍 there's a new Janine Berdin song that I discovered thru one of Stell's tiktok vids. 😅 And when I listened to it, it became an instant favorite. Song title is "Sitwasyonship". Perfectly describes the sentiments of someone in a no strings attached, no label situation/relationship. Janine Berdin is an artist! I wish it's English subbed so you can watch and understand it. 😭
I'm so happy you want to hear more of Janine - she's an absolute gem! Here's another Wish Bus perf from her ua-cam.com/video/PwCm3TkndeM/v-deo.html 😁 Fun fact: Felip, Arthur Nery and Janine Berdine all speak Bisaya (Ken's mother tongue) I soooooo want all three of them collabing on a Bisaya track. And I want to throw in KZ Tandingan in the mix as well. She can be the vocal director or be the producer or sing in the track as well if she wants to - she's the Queen, she can do whatever she wants. But stylistically, Arthur, Janine and TJ (KZ's husband - also a very well-known singer) are similar - mood music. While Felip and KZ definitely belong to the swag gang. Any combination of these people collabing on a Bisaya song is a Ppop dream of mine.
One of my fave songs. Jennet leans on something like rock songs but she can sing any song with that certain flavor. She is one of the new good singers of this generation.
Adie does not simply writes songs in ordinary Tagalog everyday words but uses very specific old classic Tagalog words that are very descriptive and emotive . It’s like saying “I am attracted” vs “I am enamored “.There is a depth to the latter! Again, Thank you Hurraira for featuring our young and talented rising Filipino artist who really needs exposure to a wider audience who you so generously provide with your platform. There are also so many other genres in Filipino music. Like Ben&Ben and the Juans, there is a band named “Lola Amour” with their single’Raining in Manila’ which was being aired when I visited last August. Loved the song. Take a listen , I think you may like it!
This is what I love about his songs too! Funny how Hurraira keeps saying he’s an old soul, like she could tell the difference in his lyricism. I loooove his use of words as much as his choice of words. His songs remind me of “kundiman”, songs I grew up listening to only because my grandparents play them on their record players and enjoy them in very old b&w movies they would watch mostly on Sundays. Brings me back and it’s so wonderful. Kundiman is a genre of traditional Filipino love songs. The lyrics of the kundiman are written in Tagalog. The melody is characterized by a smooth, flowing and gentle rhythm with dramatic intervals. Kundiman was the traditional means of serenade in the Philippines. //Wikipedia
Janine Berdin is a winner of the most famous singing competition in the Philippines called Tawag ng tanghalan. Its a very difficult singing contest by the way. I really enjoyed your reaction ❤️
Logging in...😊 Hurraira when u said that it seems here in Ph there's always a voice counterpart of male & female, I'd say our talented singers are so used to collab or sing with others, that they already learned how to complement other singers. Thru watching so many different reactors, I've learned that collaboration of singers is not as usual/frequent as it is in Ph, that even our icons in music love collaborating with new artists that they know have potentials. Maybe that's why our singers are really good in that aspect.
These wishbus performances are the reasons why I sometimes switch to YT music from Spotify… there is something unique & new in the Wishbus versions. I do this for SB19 songs too. Their adlibs and runs & riffs really hits different when done live!
RANDOM THOUGHT: I was wondering how similar the main actor in “Mahika” and Adie look. I figured out they’re brothers in real life from his IG. Absolutely love this song, and all of Adie’s other songs!
Janine has such a uniquely awesome rasp to her voice that I really love. Check out her latest song Sitwasyonship... She has a really fun vibe when she sings. Adie is amazing too - his voice is like butter
youre on a roll hurraira 😊.its 4am in the morning and I'm supposed to have some shut eye but then saw your rv. this song just has that catchy melody and both of them delivered it amazing ly. janine has that rare textured silky voice i soooo love.
I like this duet as well. But if i have to listen to just one and need to choose between this and Arthur Neey/Janine Teñoso duet of Pelikula, i would have to go for Pelikula. Isnt it great that we can listen to both and dont have to choose hahaha. 😁 We are ao lucky to have talented new crop of artists here in the Philippines in addition to the OGs.
I wonder if you would grow a liking to another singer, Moira dela Torre. If I’m not mistaken she’s the one who started this style of singing and songwriting. These new gen of deliciously talented artists seemed like they have been influenced by her while putting their own flair into it. This is so fun!
Live versions is a very big deal here in Philippines. Audiences prefer live sessions than pre recorded tracks, that is why Filipino audience is very critical to artists performance because you are used to live settings.
