Star Citizen Videos & Reviews
The reason there is no escape pod in the Captain's Quarters is because a good captain goes down with the ship.
This ship is on itself almost as big as a COD map these days... lol
The glass could be scratched because that little area is an airlock that opens up into space. All kinds of dust might hit the glass. Just a thought.
"If you use all the escape pods, will you have to go back and have them reloaded?"
Im gonna assume if you use em, the ships about to go boom.
There are two panels next to each elevator on each floor. You use one to call an elevator and the another to use it. In this case 12:12 you can't send the elevator up, because the elevator is already on the third floor. The panels say "Use lift" and " Call lift".
+Spyppoy Exactly.
+Spyppoy Right. and just to add, the purpose is so that you're not standing under the elevator like an idiot, whereby you will be crushed, Space Quest 3 style.
graphammer Yeah I was about to say that, but I didn't know how to say it. There are so many youtubers and streamers out there, who do the same thing.
+Spyppoy yeah, it's quite annoying.
+Spyppoy It's amazing how many youtube videos I've seen of people trying to use the elevators in the starfarer and all but one of them go straight to the "Use Lift" button instead of the "Call Lift" button. It's probably because of how entering most ships currently work like the constellation, retaliator and freelancer. You "use" then get the hell out of the way. I do hope they fix the other ships and place open/close buttons out of the way on the hull instead of looking at the sky and dodging out of the way to not be crushed.
This is the first Human ship they've released (aside from the Freelancer and that other MISC ship) that actually looks like a Sci-Fi ship. The biggest criticism I and many on the Forums have with the ships in SC is that they all look like planes. I can see MISC becoming my favourite manufacturer because their designs are really unique, and I really hope this trend continues.
6 years from now it's pretty cool to "come back" and see the hypes and theory's back in the days when all we had were just hangars before we could fly ships other than some selct few in arena commander.
the lifts are fully operational, you need to use the other panel to call the lift and than next panel to operate it :)
+pshemax Ok thanks
Been looking forward to seeing this video since CIG did a ship shape on it. You bring a great perspective to it.
Like you, I wasn't aware of the cargo hold, either. The descriptions focussed on it as a liquid carrier. Very pleased!
That loading bay looks like the perfect place for pre-mission briefings. I can just imagine troops loaded into the jump seats, vehicles strapped down, military boxes and kit everywhere. Almost like the beginning of Halo or Aliens.
the storage pod you spoke about at 18:45 are too ensure that area is still pressurized (encase you don't have a eva suit on) great video bud
For the buttons, I think a faint yellow glow over which button you're aiming at would be nice and then you just click or press E or something and your character pushes it.
I've been waiting for your review ever since the update came out! You make it seem almost like an official walk through to me anyway.
That's a full-on Star Trek bridge design ritht here, right down to the central captain chair. Nice.
Please note that the insulation in the cargo bay did actually Say "Insula" with a motive next to it. Its an "in the verse" brand for insulation. Also note the misc symbol repeated on some of the floor surfaces.
Man I really Love your Star Citizen Videos since I first stumbled upon one of your Firsts.
Your assumtions are just lovely, It´s like myself running around. :D
Please keep on doing such great Videos and thanks for the Time you are spending.
+Aynareth Thanks glad you like the videos just trying to keep it real.
Much bigger than I though it would be. I got lost in it when I first got in... You can be sure I'll get one though. Great review tac, keep it up
Random thought but it would make a great explorer ? Fuel isen't a problem good cargo space, could easy carry a small 4x4 of some kind. And still room for lots of supplies.
I am getting obsessed with this game, this is from someone who when off gaming but this gets me excited for gaming again😂
I love all the hidden corridors and stuff. As the ship doesn't really have weapons you could hide and ambush pirates in them
I think that little panel with the picture of the ship is actually a little navigation thing. Id expect it to be a bit bigger but that's my guess. Loving the videos. Keep it up (:
The starfarer is definitely bigger than i thought it would be.
+Dark Star Same. Its turn out really well.
I bought this ship months ago so happy its finally here
I really like how you take your time to look at everything, but u should have really informed yourself beforhand. then you dont have to make so many assumtions. (like the reactor beeing the engine) and your video wouldnt be at confusing
+Joseph Gericke I got it right in the end lol.
+Tactical Advance also the ship doesnt fit in the hangar there... but thats not the correct hangar.
there is a completely different size room that I see in my hangar currently. you mentioned using someone elses account, maybe somethings messed up and it spawns in the normal hangar instead of the correct one.
+Joseph Gericke I was watching, and just thinking the same thing, as he was walking onto the exterior catwalk, by the fuel pods. He said you will need magboots. That's not true, the exterior catwalk will be in open space, requiring you to be suited up. But the catwalk itself will be under the artificial gravity of the rest of the ship.
+Tactical Advance Hey TA. I like your videos a lot, but I rarely have time to watch them. Do you think it would be a good idea to continue making a long version like the ones you are giving out now - but also cut the long video down to a shorter version which is like 4-8 minutes?? I'll watch them, for sure :)
The fact that this ship is THIS big is really a hint on how massive the Idris will be and if the Idris will be that big, imagine how big the main carrier will be. (the one from the original trailer)
I'm amazed that box the ship is parked on top of didn't get crushed when they set the ship down lol. it's a box holding like a third of the ship's weight.
The Banu Merchantman is going to be epic. the longer I wait, the bigger and better I know it will be.
I wish they'd add ships with a more nitty gritty feel. Dirty rough and ready to go, no fancy panels hiding the wires tubes and gizmos, I'd like to have a ship with no wall panels on the inside and cargo holds, like you see military cargo aircraft, like the C130, no panels in the main cargo hold simply for the fact to have ease of access for easy repair and to locate the problem quickly without having to take of panels to find the problem, cargo ships dont need to be pretty, you aren't escorting VIP's you're transporting cargo, I feel adding this aspect to some ships would make it such a more realistic feel
Drake Interplanetary.
+DezzarTac not gritty enough
Tom Eason How so? They look very functional as is, I mean hell the cutlass has no room inside! Heh, mayhaps you have examples from other sci-fi for what you mean?
+DezzarTac millennium falcon! Haha
Finally, been waiting for this, TY Tactical Advanced
Certainly a mile stone for the game very nice to see it in hangar can't wait for 2.3 to go live.
You can see the Firefly inspiration in the inclusion of a Galley skylight.
That is a beautiful ship. Great video. Thank you for making it.
+Eisenhorn Thanks mate.
The glass is gelatin that's what you are seeing. This ship looks bigger in side then outside but not all the rooms looks big but it is a good ship. If you can do it your self it would be a perfect ship. It looks like the captain's room is a escape pod.
Double glazed windows aren't that weird innit :)
+Rook3v Its the only ship in the game so far with them.
Tactical Advance
True true, just thought it was funny how often you commented on them -
+Rook3v When I get my one in game the Double glazed is coming out lol
You would want double pane windows extra reinforced cargo door if one of those tanks would blow
That insulation is called Kapton, i use it at work with some of our 3d printers, its the stuff NASA made. Very robust, high temp synthetic sheet. It has a distinct color and reflection to it, like you see in game. By the way, now that i think of it, if you ever want one of your ships printed, come talk to me, i can usually get permission to use the source files and get you something to put on the desk. I'm gonna make a Mustang Omega since i just bought an R9 and will be joining you guys shortly. If i see you in game, ill say hello, please dont kill the friendly guy that comes up to you in the middle of space. lol I really wanna go for a ride in that Starfarer. Such a gorgeous, massive ship. Are they expensive? The internal hangar and interior reminds me of Serenity from Firefly.
About 312 bucks.
perhaps it is not the window itself that is scratched, it just appears that way because it is a brand new ship, and it still has all of that transparent sticky film on all of the glass surfaces
The most logical reason the glass looks scratched as that the undamaged and damaged models are trying to occupy the same space.
The video I was most waiting for this week. :)
The Starfarer is more than what I thought it would be too. At most I thought it would have 3 or 4 rooms. It has turned out to be way more than what I expected and I am really happy for the price I paid. :) (I have the Gemini)
The turrets are not down facing like the ones found in the Constellation. The devs have confirmed that the turrets are like the Retaliator's, which seats get turn upside down as you get on. This is better cause you get a much better view when using turrets.
Ladies and gentlemen..................
TACTICAL ADVANCE HEA
I say it every time 😂 I love this channel. So useful learning stuff for star citizen
Those crew quarters with the beds all lined up are giving me nightmarish flashbacks to school camps :(. So much noise
The two pods on the back are more likely pods to guide a refuel tube for other ships to connect with to have an inflight refuel
They said in the shipshape on this ship is that the gantry has gravity so you don't need magboots
The bottom picture at 13:15 shows the zone layout of the Starfarer from the top. Other than that it's the exact depiction of the Starfarer you walk around in. :-)
Misc ships will heavily feature 3D Holographic displays, so there probaply won't be too many flat screens in the cockpit area.
that ramp is so steep that there is no forklift in the world that could climb it carrying any cargo.
+Newbpwng The ones we will have fly.
newbpwng worried about 2019 forklift not working well enough 1000 years from now.
That's one big fat beer transporting mother hen. Never seen such a purdy birdy. There are so many cool tactical encounter spaces throughout this ship. It's going to make a fine FPS battleground in it's own right. As usual Tac, professionally done video. I am so looking foreward to my Crucible if this Starfarer is any indication of quality and thoughtful detailing. Not sure if I want to buy this Starfarer now that I own a Crucible. I have enough ships in my hangar and I want to have time to fly them and more importantly for my engineering character to maintain them.
at 19.50, you can see the little space where the hammery flame device of Galaxy Quest will be
Something I would like to see in the game is ships like this not really being affordable to a solo player. Having something like this would be a real treat if it takes an organization of players working together to be able to afford these and the bigger ships, versus the dogfighters that will be a dime a dozen.
I wish that if the crew would be sleeping side by side like this they'd have a pill-shaped beds. Like the ones in the movies with sliding glass and it looks as though they're in a small escape pod.
most amazing ship ...
When the graphic flicker or look glazed (bug) like this, its called Z Fighting. It is two graphic's fighting for the same spot.
On Door interaction: They are currently reworking the interaction system, so I wouldn't put too much thought yet into why doors open automatically now. Once we have multiple interactions per object there will be more controll over doors for sure.
Every time you say "Double Glazed" I think Krispy Kreme Donuts
Those escape capsules look like coffins, oh the irony.
At about 23:20 - maybe that is the device that processes the hydrogen gas into fuel?
That would raise the question where the generator would be though.
I guess we will figure things out as the component system is slowly brought into play :-)
+Celanis Hugsalot I believe that the containers at the back of the ship that are the longer ones are the hydrogen refineries. I don't see why the hydrogen refinery would be in the center of the ship.
I remember watching this in my teens, then went ahead and bought it.... now I’m an adult, and we’re still in alpha... the ship still buggy as hell..... and where’s my fish tank?
ah well... I still want this game to release and I can finally fly in the starfarer.
Hopefully before I retire :)
love the starfarer. Just need a decent size crew! lol
getting some sereus firefly vibes from this
Looks like they forgot to take off that clear plastic strip when you get something new. Like your vids because you take the time to really look at stuff.
I'm definitely missing something here, but how can one purchase the ship currently? I know it'll be about 300 USD, but can't seem to get my hands on it at RSI.
the lip looks dockable. could be for transporting people, like second class flights, or a different type of cargo bay... it looks like vents around the rear door frame..
Bro I like your content, keep it up man!
hm. the limited view from the cockpit is a bit of a shame. Would be nice to sit in a large dome and nearly see 180 degrees front facing. But in any case...epic ship!
7 crews, so there's pilot, co-pilot, two analysts working in the cockpit. Then probably an engineering team of chief engineer and two fuel pump operator?
Those aren't escape pods, but vampire beds :).
+TheEVEInspiration Death pods.
The only thing that bugs me about this ship is there isn't enough beds for all your crew. Your going to need at least 4 for the bridge, plus yourself (as captain), and another 3 at least for the turrets. So your looking at 8 beds at least, while there are currently only 7 (6 in the crew quarters and 1 in captain's room). Unless you don't have everyone sleeping at the same time. But in a game as detailed as this it seems odd, since most people wouldn't want to share beds.....
So when is the Banu Merchantman getting started? This thing is pretty well done so what's the next ship they're starting? I swear they made the concept art for the BMM a lonnng time ago but they still haven't started working on it.
I must admit, the SF makes me try to accomplish what I think is impossible and was my initial reason not to buy it - trying flying, and managing it solo as in me and AI only...damn that SF XD
Cant wait to see him do the test flight of the Xi An Scout :D
+Joe Beans Going to be doing the video this week.
Tactical Advance Woo! I own one, so you can see why I'm so excited!
N00n question - how do you have this ship if it's not for sale for real world moola?
How much you paid for the ship, do you know if it will be for sale again? I have a FreeLancer MAX and I am thinking to upgrade to Starfarer.
+Hammad Arshad It will be on sale again its going to be a few $100s
"I'm not complaining but"....lol I love when people try to make it sound better than they think in thier heads.
And no mag boots: There is gravity on the walkway outside
Is the starfarer in the PTU only?
"conduits"...the name you're looking for is jefferies tubes.
Have they fixed those flickering textures yet.?
left it running while answering the door
How does the starfarer size compare to a Hull C? I understand the prices were the same and the cargo is far greater on a Hull C, however whats the interior like on a Hull C, anyone have any comparisons?
+Drakotar We don't know much about the interiors of the hull series. But then again, the starfarer holds its cargo inside, while the hull series have external cargo
MaMastoast Yeah I know how it stores cargo, I mean the cockpit area and how the size compares. Hopefully we will see some more news on it soon :)
Drakotar Oh I just mentioned how it stores cargo since you asked about size and the hull c having more cargo space..
but yea, I really hope we'll get any Hull series shi hangar ready soonish. I'm planning to buy a hull b as my starter ship,(gonna be a space trucker), and really hoping for a cozy interior and neat cockpit.
sadly, if the starfarer is anything to go by, the crew quarters will be disapointing :(
MaMastoast Oh sorry I meant the overall size of the ship :) As for the stafarer I agree, the crew quarters feel damp and dull, I hope CIG / Foundry 42 update it in the future and add a door to the captains toilet!
Drakotar Also like... the crew beds are just placed in an open hallway sorta room... Why not make small roms with 2 bunks in each? If they just stacked them on eachother they'd only take half the floor space, leaving the rest for a small table and some lockers for personal stuff.
I dunno.. I hope the hull series wont be this... impersonal.
oh and why on earth does the captains quarters lead into the mess hall xD
That's like the directors office being accessed through the cafeteria ^^.
It would be funny to be able to sneak to somebody ship and steal all the coffee supply.
how many square meters floor space has the starfarer
How did you this quality???? No aliasing super shape ...how plz tell me that
idk why but this guy makes me laugh
so is this the biggest hangar-ready ship right now? or is there a bigger hangarable ship?
+TheShroom For now. Carrack is probably hangarable.
+TheShroom atm it is, 100 meters in length, 45 meter beam, 29 meter in height pretty big.
you dont get an escape pod as the captain goes down with his ship
Need a new video on this Tac
"Hello Ed Boys! Many doors, yes?"
Could they remove all the gas tanks and enclose the area inside the hull to make it a HUGE cargo hauler.
Wait
Extended hangar?
Someone explain please
Hey, I've been out of the star citizen news for a few months, is there any info about how far away the comercial release is? I'm planning on getting a ship a few month before the Comercial release but don't know what's the best cheap beginner ship atm, if anyone can answer I'd appreciate it.
SQ42 most likely at the end of the year, PU will release after SQ42. You can buy an aurora MR starter package. Chech out the star map on The RSI site as well.
G C3 thanks!
the cargo hold does not seem much different from the Taurus.. bit bigger but not as much as i thought.. also, could anyone shed some light on what the 6 cylinders around the tail area are? Thanks
Gas/ fuel. Most likely if you shoot them that blow up.
Just wanted some unbiased opinions, should I melt my constellation aquila for this and then get something else?
Also, did anyone want to start a realistic organisation with me?
+DATA Gaming Do you want to deliver liquids?
+Tactical Advance I as soon as I saw the ship in hangar I fell in love with the design I just didn't know if melting my Aquila was worth it.
I wish the sale didn't end April 4th I'd pick one up if it went to April 15th!
didnt know Jemaine Clement was a StarCitizen fan
The hangar you have it in isn't the bug one.
The ludicrous expectations of the Star Citizen backers are feeding the already really bad feature creep problem that the game has.
"These absurdly high-res textures? I wish they'd make 'em a little bit higher res in the final version. Also add shadows. And I want the game to be able to handle thousands of players in a single instance."
Another thing that people who make Star Citizen videos will randomly stop while walking through their ship and look at some random fucking dial on the ground and say, "Wow. Look at this dial. I really hope they add a dial-watching mechanic for this random dial I just found."
Are you kidding me?!
look ian... you want the greatest game of all time no contest, or not? in just 12 more years, we'll be playing the best game to have ever been made vs games a decade ago.
hey just wanted to ask when does this really come out ? hyped a lot. And did you see the new behind the scenes in Star citizen's own youtube. The alien language and appearance is amazing. Hopefully we won't wait long.
+phantom feenix The single player campaign is scheduled to come out this year but there is a decent likelyhood that it will get delayed into early next year. The persistent universe will likely release between late 2017 and late 2018.
warpigs330 thats a long wait. But i guess good things come to the one who waits so its ok.
