- Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 35 Commander and musician Chris Hadfield picked up his Larrivée guitar and joined a national Canadian music celebration called "Music Monday". This year, Hadfield was chosen to play the song "I.S.S." co-written with Ed Robertson, the lead singer from the group "Barenaked Ladies."The song is expected to be included on an album Hadfield recorded on orbit in his spare time.
this is literally a space jam :D
Lol
This is OUT OF THIS WORLD !
Chris, you achieved two things: you became an astronaut and a rockstar.
Absolutely incredible! Chris Hadfield is a legend!
Welcome to the space jam.
Commander Hadfield is such a nice person. We love you, Chris! :)
This man is so lovable...
I was crying during that beautiful song. The lyric "What once was fueled by fear, now has fifteen Nations orbiting together here." really got to me. Such an amazing song. Such an amazing man. I can't wait to be up there one day. I will make it happen.
The man you see in this video.is a man of the highest caliber.
"I should be practicing the guitar, practicing anything, becoming something, be talented and stop procrastinating" Pretty much what I was thinking. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one being inspired by the amazing Chris Hadfield, wanting to be something more because he shows us that it's possible.
I am proud of being a man with such ambassadors in space :)
I'm 31 years old and I have tears of joy in my eyes.
the badge on his chest has shape of the guitar pick :)
I could listen to him talk and sing forever!!!
You're doing great things for all these kids who will be the next generation of space exploration, Chris. You ought to be proud of yourself. Such a humble man to take on the task of opening all these kids eyes. Love your work!!!
Chris Hadfield is apparently a pretty cool guy, and doesn't afraid of anything.

This man is Amazing! I look up to him.....Literally
can anyone be more awesome then Chris
Everybody should be a student their whole life. If you are not learning something, then you are just in the process of forgetting things.
Correct me please if I am wrong, I am learning English to hear things like this video >_
***** Thank you :D
Damm right, learning is the better way to improve your life and soul.

Cowboy's chords strumming, excess use of the sus4 effect, but it brought tears to my eyes. Long live Colonel Hadfield!

I was meaning just to watch a bit of this...but his awesomeness isn't letting me close the window
Commander Hadfield, will be the best ever, awesome. Good journey the earth back!!!!!!!!!
Music. Now IN SPACE! This is awesome.
Doesn't the lack of gravity affect the vibration of the strings?
***** They're not at 0g at the I.S.S. they feel our same gravity, but they're falling constantly towards the earth
***** they are affected by the attraction of the earth, so they turn around to not fall on the planet. But the fact as they are in orbit is that they falling (vertical attraction is remplaced by horizontal in certain way). The ISS and all the objects inside falling at the same speed, that's why they floating if you take the ISS as referencial.
0gravity is when your not affected by any planet/star. You have to be out of any attraction.
They are only in microgravity. We can also say that they are in 0 G but no 0 gravity.
If you actually watched the video someone asked Chris that exact question...
This is the coolest thing ever. 3 Hadfield

your ego doesn't seem to be suffering too much, so I assume you won't mind telling me you've played guitar in space before? in tune?
***** It's not out of tune, you don't play it better than him it's his song. You can only play your own version of it, ur selfish so you say you play it better than him.

legend
he is in a gravitational field, he is falling toward the earth constantly at the same acceleration as everyone else on earth.
Fantastic !!!!! Is a dream.
This man is a legend.
I would buy his album. :D
Don't you sometimes miss fresh air?
That guitar was like peace dawg!
true words!
Oh Canada look after this guy, he is awesome!
you can be cool, but will never be astronaut playing guitar cool
This guy is amazing.
Science communication
That's a great song
The flags are of countries involved with ISS.
Please, give this poor man a headset to keep it's hands free
Currently 6.
Hadfield and two of his fellows come back from space this month. Then another three fly up from Kazakhstan.
Thats so cool and inspiring, thanks for this ! An interesting question would be how a lower air pressure will effect on the pitch/amplitude of the sound. Imagine a guitar player playing in a hypobaric chamber while the air gets thinner.
is so cool to see you guys
Great !! I want to play in Space too !!! ;)
i love your videos chris
Nice, sweet, gut gemacht, bardzo dobrze. :-)
Thanx for the video - and music in space ? YES !!!
Floating Guitar :D
He is done more for Science awareness in Canada than anyone in recent memory. Such a thoughtful, accessible, and inclusive ambassador of space. Rock on Commander!!!
history right here
