I have been a die-hard fan of Dr. MBK for the past 50 years. From the recent past I shifted my loyalty to Abhishek Raghuram avarghal. Surprised to see him playing MRINDNGAM with equal ease. HE IS MY CARNATIC MUSIC SUPERSTAR.
Super concert. VVS still plays so beautifully in the way he used to play earlier days. Vital Ramamurthy is at his best. Abhishek is super I was simply stunned. Beautiful concert.
Really nice to see VVS sir's concert. I have very fond memories of listening to his concerts. There is one in particular held at Ragasudha hall in Mylapore in which he played Thodi as the main raga. The alapana was so mesmerizing, it is still etched fresh in my memory. He also regularly plays very short 2-3 min alapana before each song in which he captures the entire essence of the raga. Truly a master of the art. Thank you for the posting.
Having a vocalist playing the mrdangam is a great advantage. Knows the sahityam too thoroughly and also the mind of an vocalist during manodharma phases. This is a nice combo and a pleasant experiment. Enjoyed the total team performance. Hope they will give more such performances

we were taken to a different divine time, we got emotional while listening, what a competence of all the three, lining up with great two maestro, thanks for uploading such a wonderful concert(as rightly said once in a life time)
They are legends, they are epitome of music.. but the humility they show in appreciating each others' phrases, that is the soul of carnatic music. It brings people together in a whole new dimension that is beyond math, money or physicality. Meanwhile you see today everyone trying to assert dominance wherever possible, I myself am guilty of doing it, because that is what earns you respect, power and position in the battle for survival. That pantuvarali alaapana makes my heart long for my life to go elsewhere, and this kind of soul searching and bonding that doesn't involve complicated strategies and power as in today's world, but instead to the roots. Masters at play. The young drummer (Mrdangam) is gracious, sensitive and superb. I hesitate to cheapen the young man’s talent by claiming him to be a “Superstar”.
