Even though this challenge might be more troublesome to do than most of the other ones, I have to say, I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's pretty refreshing to see you actually struggle with the battles. Would definitely like to see you play this out if possible.
I challenge you to play a migration campaign with Mori, migrate to the island of Sado and become a real Pirate Haven and only recruit Wako Raiders as units and use ships you see fit. You can hold on to your old provinces only until you liberate Sado. Keep your starting units, since you are gonna need them. Best of luck and glory to the Mori! :)
You should be able to keep the the rebellion units along with those you start but just disband one of them each couple of turns, (to simulate decrese in war fervor) or when you recruit a monk unit.
That random mission warning you about a naval invasion. Losing a province so the Takeda can't reach you. You had some good luck that you didn't capitalize on.
Yea. Just deal with invasion then maybe move onto Noto and then consolidate on Etchu. Few more turns meaning few more units and maybe temple upgrade in Echizen to stabilize that front more.
Well your evaluation at the end of episode is on point - once your strategic situation stabilized you screwed yourself xD. Sometimes going slower is faster. You seem to just rush and think on the move which seems disadvantageous so far. Kinda one step forward and two steps back in this episode. In previous episode instead of taking Etchu you could take on Noto which would lead to much better situation currently. Not taking province also would be fine as you could turtle a little more and each unit you have is huge power spike for you. AI at this point is already maxed out army wise, so patience would allow you to have easier time. Also to point out it is a second time in this campaign that Yari Ashigaru bugged out. 2nd time they did after you clicked Yari wall while they were running to position. So maybe micro them a bit more instead of repeating that scenario :D? It's not like you had anything else to do at this point of battle.
Hey donkey, loving the vids. Made me want to try this challenge. I got my ass kicked too. But one thing that really helped was offering my son as a hostage. Helped me get some alliances that helped with the early game. Even was allied with takeda for a bit. Good luck!
Watching this makes me think that recruiting units, while important, isnt quite as vital as having really good garrisons in your towns. Perhaps going for buildings that provide good garrisons (your dojo temples, for example) might let you leave towns alone and go conquer with a proper army. Pure food for thought
I did a monk challenge last year and it was almost impossible without allowing some early units until monk units could replace them. I did it with Uesugi, but allowed myself 6 Ashigaru units until monk units came online.
Easy solution: send the save file to LegendofTotalWar, lol. Im kidding, I'm sure you'll win it. It's entertaining to watch you turn these battles around.
Didn't the Takeda leave for one turn because they were not at war with the Uesugi ? I think not taking back Etchu would have 'secured' your borders for one more turn at least. Another thought, how badly / quickly do you want those Bow Warrior Monks ? Would it maybe be worth more to still start out with the temple for the extra garrison, BUT a market for more money isntead of archery dojo ? Also, since the Weaponsmith does not give your Monks any bonuses until the final level, maybe consider building up the recruiting line for them in Echizen first. Would save you one food at least until you've either got better farms or a tech for + food. I know in the long run it seems like a lot of money and time wasted as you would need to restructure a lot but, it could improve the early game a bit more for you which is the biggest struggle to overcome. Once you get into a somewhat defendable and okay position the campaign will turn into a breeze for you after all.
The reason he built the recruitment line in Kaga is because he starts with a temple. He couldn't build units in Echizen until he unlocks both the temple and the naginata dojo.
You should try a challenge where you invade Sado, move your capital there, max out the infrastructure (farms, roads, etc) take over ALL the shipping nodes with a powerful navy and dominate the waves before eventually taking over the mainland.
Except it would be incredibly boring as I sat there for 50+ turns waiting for all the tech to upgrade my 1 town, and I wouldn't be able to afford all the ships needed for taking all the nodes, protecting them, and holding an army at the same time to protect myself from naval invasions, all the while only being able to trade with 1 clan due to only having 1 port.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP If you allowed yourself to use the resources from the mainland provinces until they were invaded, maybe it could be more doable. Idk just a thought
You definitely should NOT have taken back Etchu for no other reason other than the Uesugi acting as buffer since they were at peace with the Takeda so the Takeda could not cross their border to attack you. You have to remember this isn't Three Kingdoms anymore where armies can trespass.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP No worries. I feel you can still make it. Look at the bright side. Once you beat the siege you will have THREE recruitment slots in Kaga. Good luck 👍

I support this
კარგი იქნება.
Will be real funny to sent this to legends of totalwar for a save your disaster campaign hahahah. Good crossover PR for both channels!
16:45 "And I need your fucking kid" Absolutely priceless.
Surprisingly relaxed gameplay and upbeat commentary despite such odds. Keep at it !!
I'm a surprisingly relaxed and upbeat guy :P

Sounds fair enough

Damn, I did not think about the fact that they cannot trespass, too used to Three Kingdoms now I guess.

Not really. You have to upgrade the towns to get more garrisons but that cost food.

Yeah, I did not consider that at all, I completely forgot about the fact that there's no trespassing in this.

Please do not give up on this one
Hey how do you zoom into the unit like you did in the battle?
Random other thought: how viable would it be to take the Ainu trade node and/or pillage the heck out of it?
Yes
Please play the Planetwar mod for Medieval 2
