I have to disagree I thought she was rude about it.
Girl as a nail technician let me just say that her work with forms is incredible! She obviously wasn’t finished yet! A C curve is the main reason why a form is used !!! That’s the whole idea. I get clients like this all the time and yes it’s annoying trying to explain something to someone with little to no knowledge about Nails
Also c curve gives the nail better support and strength as well as doin the apex

Your nails are supposed to have a c curve underneath them. Thats what a natural nail should look like.

@@mani-gf4lk The c-curve is for support. Meaning, a good c-curve lets the nails be as thin as credid cards. Try doing that with tips and they will beak, or have a thick body.
The c-curve also allows the lower and upper arch to get straighter, meaning even more strength.
Really, i think the first set was totally fine, just needed to be filed.
But also, it's a personal taste. I still perfer the first one, being a nailtech myself doing nails with a good c-curve and structure

sis if i was that nail-lady i'd be so mad. this is one of the most traditional and most professional ways to do acrylics. These take so much experience but when you're good at it they look so good at the end. If you're doing that much content related to something (ex. nails) please inform yourself about different technics and the steps to it because she was genuinely doing a great job
Emilia Maria so you’re saying she has to do a ton of research before she get’s her nails done? I’d think the same way if the nail looked like that when the acrylics were first installed. It’s not her fault for being worried that what she is paying a lot of money for isn’t gonna turn out the way she wants. As a nail artist you have to be professional and calmly explain how its going to turn out and what steps she’s going to take to make it look good and that the result will be like she wanted in the end. If you were a nail artist and you’d get mad like you said you would, I would not feel welcome and leave immediately
That's true but you have to admit that one finger actually was pretty crooked asf lol yes it's another technique but the fact they had to rip off her sculpted nails was stupid when they shouldn't have started that in the first place plus it was super crooked lol
blueflames it might be crooked and thin or whatever but that’s when they add more acrylic and then they file it to the correct shape you’d like.
@@venus5993 I know what I'm talking about lol I'm a nail tech but her second finger was too crooked to even fix, adding acrylic and filing the shape isn't gonna work. The first finger was good but the second one came out bad plus they ripped off all her nails afterwards that's a waste of product and time

I actually screamed at the begging 😱 extending the nails with a nail form is actually really common especially for nail techs that really aren't lazy and want to do perfect nails. Yes they will look weird at the beginning but she wasn't finished yet. The c curve (when you look in your nails in the front) is AWESOME! When you have that the nail tech cat work your nails
Thinner AND they last AND will
Be much stronger than a flat nail. It's like a tunnel. Tunnels are strong. Also a thinner nail is good for these kind of designs because at the end it won't be so bulky like on a flat nail.
I am kind of sad seeing a person's art/job that they make properly being trashed on the internet from people that don't know better. Next time try to be a little nicer and wait till she is finished ❤️
Also I see that in the USA a lot of nail techs curve the nails. This "style" of nails break more easily especially when you get long ones. A straight nail from the side with a curve ON Top or with an tunnel (c curve) is muuuuch stronger and won't break that easy.

I know how to do nails and talk to nail techs on a regular basis and I know everything Melissa said is true. I honestly find people who say they know a lot about a topic, but that clearly actually don't, to be very annoying. She claims she knows a lot about nails bc shes gotten them done in many occasions... but in a different way... In a particular technique... It is clear to everyone that she didnt even bother to look up nail enhancement theory and the different techniques that exist before feeling entitled enough to make those claims. Which is very funny considering how widely available that knowledge is in this platform. But either way, people do get grumpy after traveling, I'll give you that.

Those are more of the fancy ways to do acrylics and gluing on tips is kind of the less fancy/cheaper way because you dont have to use as much acrylic powder and liquid

I have seen it done that way and I have gotten my nails done that way. But they were extremely curved so I didn’t think she was doing something correctly.
FionaFrills That curve is called the C curve. The more curved they are, the stronger they are. The way she did them is called sculpting and the ‘plastic things’ are paper forms. I’m a nail tech btw.
Faye Grace They’ve just applied tips using gel instead of glue. Apres nails do this with full tips
omg babe i cringed so hard when you said you didn't like the sculpted nails and you've never seen them before and then the attitude you had when telling the professional how to do her job instead of asking why and having her to explain the difference to you, they're literally the best looks wise and structurally and they take years to master. as a nail tech myself i would've been so discouraged to hear that and have it bashed on the internet without having you see the final product and/or explaining it better to you. hopefully if you continue doing these nail series you can further educate yourself on different techniques so you don't have this kind of problem and learn to approach the situation differently instead of feeling like you needed to "stand up for yourself" its nails, she wasn't making fun of you.

well first of all the nails she did first WERE right cause she saw your nails and decided to do a formed nail so you can have a proper apex so they dont break in a week, the paper is called a form , they use forms when they want a more curved and slim look! Since you said you werent feeling the shape they probably felt like they needed to do something more towards your comfort zone and what you already have done before which is nail tips and product on top . The second technic was the Apres X system im assuming they did that cause a girl already spent a lot of time doing your previous set and needed to do a quicker job also the result would be flat for the designs like you asked . The apres X system is practically ready tips from gel and using a builder gel to adhere them on your natural nails so its like a sculpted gel set but quicker.
They also said its russian purely cause you honestly wouldnt understand what they were talking about and youd be more confused than before lol without trying to be rude its just like how i wouldnt understand soccer terminology you wouldnt rll get what they are saying
Both ways were right you just werent familiar with them , tho i think you did handle the situation okay and speaking up is good most of the time , you should be a little more patient and maybe ask before you assume ! The final product was awsome tho and i hope you love your new nails regardless

Is that why her manager came and removed the original set? They were not applied properly and thats why they were removed and tips were instead applied. Her technique was deemed not up to standards by the person in charge of the salon.

No honey, she might be a nail artist, but not at all a nail tech. She does not have proper control over acrylic or any knowledge about a proper structure whatsoever. Even if she had filed it down, the structure would still be very poor due to it's thinness and they would eventually fall, break or pop right out of fiona's fingers. Also, Fiona mentions her nails hurt a little, that's because they peel them up and that ain't also the proper way to take them off and by doing so they damaged fiona's already damaged and weakened nail plate. Let's not even talk about her technique with aplying the tips. So no, she might be an amazing, incredibly talented nail artist, but she's not even close to being a nail tech, she still has a lot of proper learning to do. Also, sorry if my gramar is Bad or My sentencia are wrong or lack of sense, i really hope i explained myself well, but english is not My first/mother language and i'm self taught.

I bet she was itching to just tell you off But in this cancel culture we live in she was probably scared to death of getting burned on youtube. They actually weren’t Crooked... when doing nail forms instead of tips the nails are supposed to have a “c” curve and she was building a base/platform, they weren’t going to stay like that. the second method they used was the Apres method. it’s not acrylic tips. they’re 100% gel extensions

you sterilize rll good all your steel and metal nippers ,pushers and you throw out any disposibles like nail files and buffers
Simo Bnk In my state, which isn’t California(so this may not apply to this salon), we’re required by law to turn away customers with cuts on their fingers. The state law doesn’t require you to sterilize your products between clients and in fact only requires disinfectant to be used. As a nail tech I’m supposed to treat everyone like they have an infection in order to keep my shop and clients clean. She could of done every other finger and left the one with the cuts alone.
katrinabroyan my state is required that every customer has their own nail filer and buffing block for that reason. So the first time I go to the nail salon they give me a goody bag of my own things and I bring it each time. If I lose it I have to pay for a new set of tools. The only thing we share are the electric files

You went to a Completely Different salon with Different styles and tricks AND you complain? It would've been better if you just asked what they were doing and WAITED. They are the professionals there. And you also complain that it took "longer than expected" like gurl, did you even think about the type of designs you're gonna get and how intricate they are?
But what's done is done. You still got what you wanted anyways.
I agree on this, but fiona has a point though, clients that get their nails done so frecuently eventually learn all the theory, learn the structure and the proper way it should be, the steps to follow and Even though they are supossed to be the professionals, those nails were actually really Bad, not because of the C curve because that is easy to fix and tends to look like that before filing when it comes to longer nails, but because of the structure Even though a few nails were too thick, some of them were extremely thin and most of them lacked of the basic structure, like the properly built apex and that can't be fixed by filing.

The shape of the nail that you didn’t like was a perfectly done ballerina style. Technically it was 100% correct. Whenever you lengthen your nails, you should sculpt them in a way that they fit physiologically to your nail. That’s why every shape has its own “architecture”. I’m a nail stylist and it hurt me in a way 😢
The nail technicians at the place you went to was actually doing everything correctly I feel like you were just lacking a little bit of knowledge on nail art and nail design and how everything works

Why is everyone bashing her for telling the woman doing her nails that she didn’t like the way it looked. Even if she was wrong and it turned out fine in the end, it was really brave of her to tell her just to make sure she was doing it right and she was being so polite about it
The first process was actually better than the one that you wanted, the second one she used Apres press on nails on you, the first one were acrylics, no shade to you but the first one was better cause its more sturdy.

Tbh I sort of feel like she was a bit dramatic she sort of said “your not doing your job!” but after it was I guess fine
As a nail tech myself I believe you shouldn’t doubt your nail tech and question wether they’re doing they’re job right or not UNLESS it’s obviously wrong especially if you yourself haven’t been through the nail tech certification. Just because you haven’t seen the process done on yourself does not mean they aren’t doing it right. You ending up loving your nails proves this point.
By all means always speak up if you don’t like something but don’t try to tell someone they’re doing their job wrong. You going to 100 salons doesn’t suffice everything we are required to learn in order to get certified. DONT TRY TO COME AT ME IF YOU ARENT A NAIL TECH IDC.

I think she panicked because she had her nails done properly for the first time and she has no knowledge about nail extensions so she thought there was something wrong with them but they were GORGEOUS. The end result wasn't bad but they would be even better if she let them finish.

Those are actually gel x nails. They aren’t actually acrylics but I love them so much. I do the apres gel x myself. They are amazing and not damaging like acrylics

The stickers give you a different look. The stickers make you have a C curve which is how your normal nails would look like if they’re long. It’s more natural. There are a lot of ways to have nail extensions. Acrylic, UV gel, plastic tip and acrylic, poly gel, gel X, Gel tips ‘glued’ with gel and more! You can go on yt and search up ppl using stickers. It’s not ‘wrong’. Like yeah it’s crooked and thin but you’re suppose to add acrylic on top to make it thicker and then they file the shape you want.

Hey Fionna! I do nails and I just want to say that you did nothing wrong by speaking up when you realized you didn’t like how your nails were turning out. But the shape she did is actually a beautiful shape with something called a C curve. But it is all just preference,, the shape you prefer is less curved and that’s totally fine. But that c curve is a very desired look that can mostly only be done by professionals! Love ya!

These nails were done perfectly this is how it's done properly...but people in US are used to have their nails done on old generation tips with glue...but when they finaly have their nails done properly they think its done wrong...
