Not going to lie, I would buy a game based on this in a heartbeat. I've always wanted a bridge story between Majora's Mask and how the Hero of Time became the Hero's Shade.
I loved Link's fight with Sheik. He already knew all of her moves, so he was able to catch her by surprise at every turn. And that hug between him and Zelda was so beautiful.
15:48 Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but this scene is why I love the addition of the dialogue options. Link may have said that he’s here to return the ocarina, but the dialogue options show us what he’s thinking in his head. It shows us all he truly wants is his friend back. TLDR: The addition of dialogue options does a surprisingly well job at fleshing out Link’s character.
It shows you can have dialog options that add to the story while still having it linear. It doesn't matter which one you pick, the story will always move in the same direction eventually, but it can add so much character to the player character (Link in this case).
Same...was not ready for that at all, but it felt really great since none of the other end-game cut-scenes in the actual Zelda games felt as satisfying. Idk why but Nintendo has kept the relationship between Link and Zelda really low-key as just friends for the most part, and that kinda bothered me...It wasn't until BoTW that we really got to see that she actually really cares for him beyond that, but she was mostly either emotionally distant, or really mean to him throughout their time together until he saves her from the Yiga clan ambush.

I, too, welled up a lot. The writing and photography were top stuff. I loved the Zelda/Sheik scenes. Oh, the fight scene and flashback of the timeline that never was romantic.
I feel like the fact that when a lot of us first played OOT we were kids and now we are grown up and so it makes this feel even more special to us. It is like we are returning to old familiar places and faces just like Link is in this series.
Exactly. I love legend of Zelda games so much bc it made my childhood better. Now i will replay all the Zelda games I have and finnaly finish them. For me, Is Zelda number 1# game
I am only a teen so it’s hard for me to relate but I got a copy of oot 3D when I was little and beat it before these videos came out so it still feels a little special
I keep rewatching that scene where he fights Shiek, because his calm prediction of her fighting pattens timed with the flashbacks and the MUSIC is beautiful. I absolutely adore your right choreography.
On a second watch I noticed that the “Knight’s Unison” is exactly what the Hero’s Shade and TP Link do when they start their training and I AM SO EMOTIONAL 😭
The moment at 7:38 where Link has all of Zelda’s idiosyncrasies memorized to an exact science is extremely compelling. The flashbacks anticipating her every move learned from the past is artistically the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen from a storytelling perspective ever!
This is, by far, the best Zelda fan project in existence currently. The animation is fantastic, the music is flawless, and the story is engaging. It is everything a Zelda series should be. I cannot wait to see the next part!
holy mother of hylia, love that sheik returned, malon is gorgeous and zelda's lullaby during the reunion was just perfect, love the fact that he shows reluctance when he's deciding what to say. you tear me up man
Zelda's wording is especially sweet, welcome home, not welcome back, welcome HOME. As in if he asked, there would always be a place at the castle for him when he needed it. Also, come on Zelda, we all know you meant 'I've missed you' not 'We've missed you'.
It seems the actual developers of the game want to implement these kinds of story beats - but Miyamoto refuses to let them go ahead with them most of the time.
Even though Link has reunited with Zelda here, it has to be incredibly bittersweet for him, seeing as the Zelda he had grown to know doesn't actually exist in his timeline. To stare into her eyes and realize that although she has the same face, the same voice, the same smile, ultimately she's not the Zelda he knows. A cruel joke, taunting Link with a reality he will never have.
That's what makes this powerful. That emotional element to it. The added flashbacks a reminder of that. The young link from this timeline is lost. Navy is gone. A Zelda he doesn't know. A Hyrule he doesn't know. No real place to call home. Then to hold onto those memories of the other timeline. The bonds he had in that timeline. He had a sense of purpose in that timeline. Here has just been drifting looking for a friend.
Although the young Zelda in front of him would never fully become the Zelda he knew, she still has the same heart. That heart is the reason she gave Link a chance to live his childhood by sending him back in time at the end of the timeline. This is a huge sacrifice for this Zelda, since in her timeline, Link won't exist anymore. From that, Link knows something about the current Zelda that she herself doesn't know. About something she'll never do, but that she's willing to do given the circumstances. I like to think this is the reason we see Link thanking her before leaving for Termina.
Holy crap that was so good. Sheik’s reaction to the “soldier” being Link, Impa and Link’s facial expressions, Zelda rushing over to hug Link... so much about their characters are told through details like that and it’s so amazing! And bonus points for including Malon that was just a cherry on top lolll.
@@falgo-dj3lj But why is she hiding her identity from her own troops? My first point is the usual “princesses can’t fight”. My other point is the possibility of being discovered by a spy.
@@mistressofdreams6031 If u talk to the sheikah stone close to the principal castle gates using the mask of truth, it'll tell you "They say that, contrary to her elegant image, Princess Zelda of Hyrule Castle is in fact a tomboy!" so I guess Sheik is another personality she feels comfortable with
I love Link's hesitancy at 15:22, even though they're childhood friends, he is still unsure if he is actually allowed to hug Zelda in return as she is the Princess of Hyrule
I took it more as just surprise on his part. Remember this link has been through some shit especially imagine the toll his mental state took in termina. He’s always been on guard shit maybe on the edge so when she warmly embraced him he was taken off guard and gave in to something he hasn’t felt in a long time. He become vulnerable which is probably hard to do as he’s had so much on his shoulders
I'd prefer to think it's a bit of both. He may be well-respected by the Royal Family of Hyrule, but he is still so loyal and respectful towards the Royal Family that he is a bit hesitant to show any affection back towards the princess. He also isn't shown to ever have any love interests, so that probably plays a huge role. But he also suffers from being 7 years older mentally than he actually is, and has been through a lot of shit. He has saved two separate lands, yet all but a select few people (namely, Skull Kid, Tatl, Navi if she still exists, Tael, and the Happy Mask Salesman), and each of them only knows that Link saved ONE world. Navi is the only one who knew that Link saved Hyrule in the future, and Tatl, Tael, Skull Kid, and the Happy Mask Salesman are the only ones who are aware of Link's journey to save Termina. So he's pretty much always on guard just in case he ends up having to save the world again.
That transition from child Zelda to adult Zelda? *Chef's kiss* Brilliant! The narration in this episode is wonderful, and I like that Link stops at several key places, with different people. All those flashbacks he has makes it clear he struggles to be here. Loved the indecisiveness in his answer to Zelda regarding his being home again. But ouch, that hurt ;o;
@@kalebramirez7327 same and we even got some zelink in that hug! Hard to imagine in that scene link wearing that helmet is the same one he wears as the hero's shade
I love how just the action of the arrow going up and down says so much about how Link is feeling at the moment. He knows the real reason he's come back. He wants to find Navi, but he can't just say that to Zelda's face.
14:54 That whole sequence was just breathtakingly romantic. With Zelda rushing by her past self, no hesitation or standing on royal station. Just holding Link tight as if making up for not rushing after him all those years ago.
Oot Zelink has to be one of my favorite Zelinks, but it's SO underrated it's ridiculous. Their interactions in this video shows just why I love it so much.
The part where Zelda hugs Link brings tears to my eyes. She knows all the pain Link went through for her, the people, and Hyrule. She knows she's part of Link's suffering, and all she can do is comfort him.
You really think she does know about the events link went through in OoT? Not that I disagree & maybe she doesn’t know everything but at least knows links achievement & gratification was stolen.
Nintendo wants the players to let their imaginations run wild and believe in their own canon, aside from them confirming every little detail. There is so much love put into this, that I can't help but consider it canon in my own head canon.
I come back to this still, because I feel that you’re truly understand the majesty, the tragedy, and the story that is the Hero of Time. One thing I love is that Link still has a hard time saying how he feels. Whenever dialogue comes up for his cue, it always says he wants to find his friend, which is Navi. Still though, he feels that his duty comes first. It’s so sad...
Nintendo wont see it that way they will just shut it down cause they are using patreon money to fund this and they don't own Zelda Franchise nor do they have Permission from nintendo otherwise they wouldn't need the Patreon just say this is going to be shut down which sucks but its there own fault for tring to make money off of stuff that an't theirs

It is incredibly rare to find such talent as this. You and your team has made something so beautiful! Its hard to express with words how moving and touching this short animated show is. The way you portray the characters before, during and after Link pulled the Maser Sword. To them, no time has passed, but to Link, he lived through the future. Then you show his memories of his time in Termina. Even with the games as a baseline for the character, we see how the conflict has been on each person. Its so beautiful. I WANT MORE!!
If Ocarina of Time was a movie, this would be the movie. You actually did a better job than Hollywood ever could. You have both passion and talent. I loved this episode! I also loved the blue uniforms on some of the knights. It is a bit reminiscent of the blue tunics for Breath of the Wild. Bringing in Malon, the memory of him leaving for Termina, the helmet from Twilight Princess, and seeing Sheik were all just goosebump moments. Thank you for all your hard work! It’s beautiful!
Though I am typing I just want to let you know that I am speechless. This has surpassed all of my expectations. And I can say for sure that so many of us feel the same way. Majorlink please keep it up. You aren't just talented you have a gift that few are ever given.
You've connected all the details from ocarina of time to majora's mask and even twilight princess. Such an amazing job. It was full of emotions and excitement. Thank you Major Link. We all love you and will continue to encourage your amazing work. ❤️👍🗡️
Very impressive, connecting the ending of Majora’s Mask to the Hylian-Gerudo War. This animation is incredible! The way in which you set up things that we see in the future from these events, such as this same Link wearing the armor he does (as a ghost-skeleton) in Twilight Princess, the aforementioned Hylian-Gerudo War that resulted in Ganondorf’s imprisonment and failed execution, was very well-thought-out. Great work!
History hates a Paradox. Even though Link changed history, there are bound to still be events that will still happen regardless of Link’s interference. And for every gain that Link achieved from those changes, there’s bound to be an equal cost in losses. It’s only now after 7 years that Link has to live with those costs one by one through experience.
The magic that happens when someone with a passion makes something, is truly incredible. Can really connect on an emotional level with what the creator has made here
That "Thank you Zelda" really got me, felt like it was the audience thanking the franchise for such amazing memories. Love what you're doing with this series.

Something I've noticed about this, is that in the game before Link meets Zelda, Link meets Malon First, and in this episode before he goes to the castle to see Zelda, he sees Malon first again, it's a very good detail, as if Link and Malon were destined for each other , very good work MajorLink
I honestly loved that dialogue sequence where Link saying "Thank you, Zelda" pops up before selecting the ellipses; also that hug reminded me of the heartbreaking/warming scene of Zuko with Uncle Iroh. So touching.
As a grown ass man I can say these shorts are the only ones on this entire platform that make me tear up. That hug between the two hit me hard. Looking forward to more !
What can I say? The animation, the story, everything is perfectly done, from the complete reimaginations of briefly seen scenes like how Zelda taught Link the Song of Time as seen as a flashback from Majora's Mask, to the little details that ties everything in all the games from Ocarina of Time to Twilight Princess, like the design of the royal guards, the way Sheik taught Link to present his weapon, how Impa gave Link his Hero gear before he left Hyrule to Termina... ... And with every bit of detail as diligently respected as ever, like the Bowser pin on Malon, the Super Mario background behind the window of Hyrule Garden... I cannot see it as something else as the canon following of events that followed Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. I will eagerly wait the next episodes, and probably rewatch all of them again and again! A big thank you, and congratulations of all of you combined efforts, from the writing, to the scoring, to the animations, it was made with both talent and passion and it really shows!

Link returning to Hyrule and seeing Zelda again after saving Termina? This is the Majora's Mask sequel we all wanted. And I love it. You and Brock Hewitt did it once again!
This is the one criticism I have about the video, everything else is wonderful. Ganondorf clearly does know the keys to entering the sacred realm and they should know that. He specifically told the guardians of the races he wanted the spiritual stones and went after the Ocarina of Time. The Great Deku Tree tells Link that Ganondorf wanted the spiritual stone.
@@ulickeldroma1 Makes me wonder of it was because the timeline was returned when Link was done as a child and Ganondorf never went to the other temples that they believe that. Remember, Gabon came about when young Link placed the stones and the Sword sealed his spirit in the Sacred Realm. Ganondorf got access by Link and then later by other people. He never had the stones or found them, the realm was opened by others and he or his followers got into the realm by other means. The followers repeated resurrected the malformed presence of Ganon the demon not always the body of Ganondorf because another male from the Gerudo also becomes a Ganon by other means. Then the Twilight Princess says the Sacred Mirror was used to access her world and used against the world of Princess Zelda. So to me seems the meaning is that Ganondorf never accessed the realm without help from others. So maybe Zelda assumes Gabon doesn't know how to access the stones and song and in Windwaker Zelda get possessed and Ganon the demon has to be exorcised from Zelda before he can throw himself into the Sacred realm but his follower lets their body be used to keep that evil spirit from being banished. Not sure but that's what I was thinking as the reason Zelda says this. 😊💯👍💗
@@AlexFeltcha.k.a.SonicAL The spirit Ganon that he turned into the gets resurrected twice that I know off. Once by the twin witches angry Link put them in their place and Medina from a world whose Triforce was over used till it was destroyed. The other Gerudo kid got himswlf possessed trying to use what Ganondorf used. That's all I know, the demon itself tries to come back when the seals break because it is not just purposed to take over Hyrule and has no other mind, like Calamity Ganon. I know I am missing some in between like the time Link got spilt into four of the four seasons.
No matter how many times I watch this, the transition at 15:05 chokes me up every single time. The fight scene is also pretty much one of the most beautiful sequences in animation I've seen in a long, long time. Really looking forward to episode 4!

"You look more mature than the first time we met" - 12:12 and the expression on link's face really hit hard.
That hurts
I like say the reality in front of him[child timeline] is like a freash blade ready to be fasten to the guard n hilt.
Ya it does hurt
Holy crap that was so good. Sheik’s reaction to the “soldier” being Link, Impa and Link’s facial expressions, Zelda rushing over to hug Link... so much about their characters are told through details like that and it’s so amazing! And bonus points for including Malon that was just a cherry on top lolll.

@@andyramirez4293 agreed. Dude probably hasn't been hugged in a long time.
Gotta agree guys, when he hugs her back you can see him FINALLY relax. He realizes in that moment he is safe with someone who loves and cares for him
I'd prefer to think it's a bit of both.
Hugs are disgusting.
I really don't understand why people worship them so much.
That transition from child Zelda to adult Zelda? *Chef's kiss* Brilliant! The narration in this episode is wonderful, and I like that Link stops at several key places, with different people. All those flashbacks he has makes it clear he struggles to be here.

“Thankfully, Ganondorf does not know the keys to entering the Sacred Realm”
*2 minutes later*
So that was a fucking lie.
Ganon always spying or has spies...

Dude when Zelda rushed in to hold Link, I kind of teared up a bit.
No matter how many times I watch this, the transition at 15:05 chokes me up every single time. The fight scene is also pretty much one of the most beautiful sequences in animation I've seen in a long, long time.
Really looking forward to episode 4!
