This is not an instructional video and is intended as entertainment purposes only. Always get professional advice before tackling any electrical project. DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF. You have been warned.
1.Clean your filters with filter cleaner every 3 to 4 weeks.
2.Balance the water PH/ALK
3.Adjust Calcium Hardness
4.Shock the tub with 1 Tbsp of Chlorine Concentrate (99% Di-Chlor)
once a week or one Tbsp after heavy use.
5.Use MPS non chlorine oxidizer 1Tbsp after every use of the Hot Tub.
6.Change water every 4 to 6 months
Why would the TDS be at 1500 in 3 to 4 weeks and need a water change? Do you have hard water? If so, use a calcium pillow to remove the minerals with your fresh fill. No reason to drain any spa that often.
I change the filter after each time the Spa is used.
Another tip is to drop a couple of Tennis Balls into the Spa. Its an easy way to remove the surface film.
Chuck your filters and Tennis Balls in the washing machine and re-use.
The rubber which you removed.is to stop crap dropping back in when you remove the filter.ps water looks pale yellow.indicating it needs water changing
Exactly! His water is yellow looking, and it has foam, which means his water isn’t clean. Smh
My thoughts the same very hello looking
if you get debri at the base of your tub use a swifter dry wooly type pad and slowly swifter the bottom of the pool. Gets it all clean.
Top tip👍😎
I have removed the Electric heater and converted it to LPG.
Spa heats up in 45 minutes from 19 to 36 degrees. Much more usable and saves £££££££££££'s.
Can you do a video on this?
Nice video. This helped me. I just got my lazy spa yesterday. Not even filled it with water yet as I wanted to know more about keeping it clean with filters n tablets ect. Thx mate.
No worries and it's simple to look after without all the extra balancing chemicals etc. Have fun 👍
Great Video! Really settled my nerves concerning the chlorine and how often to monitor! Thanks!
Thank you so much for just saying what works and what doesn’t...I’ve watched a lot of hot tub cleaning videos, and if I followed there advice I wouldn’t be able to use it for weeks after I added all the stuff they say you need! Ok slight exaggeration on the weeks, but you know what I mean... Thank you again, your advice is ace!🙂
Its common sense and although the pro hot tubbers hate the truth you don't need to make a chemical soup to make a hot tub safe.😎👍
Just bought a Miami , very useful video thanks.
Enjoy😎👍
Thanks. All new to this. My daughter found your video other day I’ve just found so we have it saved now. Great advice especially that wool stuff for the filter. H & N x
Thankyou for making it easier for me, all the contradictory videos I've been watching have been making me stress out lol 👍
Keep it simples and you'll be fine. Worst case do a partial water change if things get out of hand with the water.👍
How much you open the dispenser holes ... u have it closed mid open or full open
I opened halfway in the end. Depends on the quality of the tablet and how quickly it disolves.
Hi, thanks for such great tips, and reading some comments, other youtubers have put some good tips also. I became the proud owner of a lazy spa today at last after scourging the internet for weeks trying to find a half decent deal. I have read in my manual for the St Lucia I eventually sourced, something about a filtration purge, but I have no clue what that means, any tips? Would be greatly appreciated.
Hello there, I have the st moritz lazyspa, my chem connect chlorine adapter plugs on the side and I have to run the bubbles for 30 mins for filtration, when it's doing this is it safe to put the foam remover in? Cause on the leaflet for the bottles for the ph reducers it says to not mix chemicals 🤷♂️ dunno if that means just while your mixing them in a measuring jug or in the lazyspa itself
Thanks for all your valuable tips mate. Just filling up the water now. So will heed your advice
Hi thanks for the tips. I've tested the water with a dip test and alkalinity is showing high but there doesn't appear to be any instruction on this. The leaflet advises what to do with chlorine and ph results but not alkalinity. Is it me? 😩
Can I take the pump in at night because I don’t want it stolen I live in dodgy area?
That got me thinking☺ you should be able to do it, but will need to screw end caps on the inside of the tub intake and outputs. I think the water will drain out without end caps, but another idea could be to run longer pipes to the pump so you can put it somewhere either out of sight or locked. I have known people to put them in sheds👍
You can and you get caps to shut off the inlet/outlet but i wouldnt recommend it as the water wont be filtering or being kept heated overnight.
Hello
If you only use the tub once every few weeks, how much maintenance would you say is needed?
Thank you!!
I would just check that you skim it qfter use if debris present and keep dosing at the recommended level using the multifunction tablets. Remove any battery operated lights after use to reduce risk of water ingress. I would occassionally run the filter during periods of no use.😎👍
Thank you! I am using the Chem
Connect dispenser that attaches to the side pump on the miami spa but the bromine tablets do not seem
To be dissolving? Am I doing something wrong... I’ve made sure the inlet of water can come into the dispenser...
@@fiveminuteman thank you.... do you have any advice if thebromine tablets arenot dissolving when in the chem connector? Not sure what to do there...?
Hi,
When cleaning the filter do you take off the wool and clean both separately?also everywhen to you replace the wool/filter?
To add what grams per multi chlorine tab did you use too
Really good explained video better than instructions manual brilliant thank you buddy 👍stay safe
Flash you found it useful😀👍
Just got my lazy spa and wanted to know when I put the float in with the tablets do I need to have anything else switched on like the filter or just leave the float to do its thing?
Would you say wash the filter daily even when not being used? If it’s up and sat unused for a couple of weeks but still with water in would you still daily clean the filter?
If its been sat as long as the water has been treated it will be fine.
5 Minute Man cheers :)
Thank you! I was just about to go and get the chemicals for my new hot tub - great advice.
You actually do need these chemicals. This guy is wrong in saying he is only interested in looking at chlorine. The ph and alkalinity very important hence why you have a strip that shows those things. If your ph not correct the chlorine will not work and you end up ill. Join a online group on face book for help and advice.
I tried the filter wool tip and it's already taking tiny particles that the supplied filter did not - great tip . JUST ONE THING you said you removed some of the rubber black fins from the filter housing ! Are they meant to come off mine seem pretty stuck ? Thanks for your time making this
When I turn on the power do I have to press reset button to get it to work
Great video found this really helpful I’m just wondering after first fill how many tablets to use and also if to keep the sides shut on the dispenser
I use Bromine instead of chlorine, it’s better for hot water and doesn’t irritate your skin and eyes as much. You also don’t use as much bromine as you do chlorine. I have a pool company near me and they gave me a test bottle to put water in. They told me when I get my hot tub (it’s coming today) to fill it up and bring the bottle of water in and they will tell me what chemicals I need and more importantly, how much. This way I won’t buy stuff I don’t need.
Nice videos matey
Thanks!
I want to save some energy. Do you keep the spa on all the time ? Also Do you know how to tell if the spa is in hibernation or sleep mode ?!
Either set it to timer or basically if in the summer just switch on a few hours before use. Don't leave on overnight. Make sure you have a insulated base and cover when not in use. Typical summer use in the UK will give you an extra electric bill of £50 per month.
@@fiveminuteman hi buddy just look at comment iam trying get my head round same question at monent sure its better to keep heat maintaintaned all the time you turn it off wont it lose temp your have to reheat
@@shaunjones7562 i would maintain it at a lower temperature then boost when needed. The thing thats different for these is they have no insulation like a proper hot tub so are very heat leaky. Point a infra red camera at it and you will see where nost heat is going. Chilly nights where temp goes down to 2 or 3 wont help. Some people put them in sheds which i guess would help.
Very helpful video and advice! Thanks!
No problem😎
Brilliant tips, only got our hot tub this summer, glad I didn't buy the cleaning kits. Definitely going to buy the wool, how often do you replace the wool, if at all?
No problem and what you save on wasted chemicals can go towards the electric bill. Who wants to sit in a chemical pool? The wool just needs a wash and squeeze every so often depending on how much dirt gets in the tub👍
@@fiveminuteman Perfect, so don't be buying 5m rolls then 😀 - thanks
@@kmcg00 hi thanks for the video Where can I buy the wool?

Great video. Have you had any issues with E02 error? We have had our spa a week now, Palm Springs model, and when we start the bubbles the E02 error comes on. We have been keeping up with chlorine daily and cleaning the filters. We tried troubleshooting from Bestway but a bit of a waste of time as made no difference. What we did notice was that if we run it without the filter but keep the housing on the error occurs but if we remove the housing it doesn’t. Could removing the rubber flaps help? When you look at the water flow in and out there’s a lot of air intake with bubbles on and the housing but that stops when the housing is removed and the pipes are full of water rather than with gulps of air. Any advice greatly appreciated.
E02 is water level or in your case air is entering the intake pipe before going through the pump. Are all filter water pipe fittings secure on the egg pump? Did you use the rubber washers as well on the fittings? The only other thing is a faulty egg unit, but that's unlikely as you can see excess small bubbles.
5 Minute Man all connections are secure. We have a replacement egg coming this week under warranty so fingers crossed. The flow is fine until we put the filter housing on which is why I wondered if the rubber was preventing enough water to flow in when the bubbles are on. Anyway thanks for the response.
@@stuartdyas7782 The filter rubber acts as a non return so any debris in the filter doesnt drop out when the pump is switched off. Wouldnt hurt to remove the rubber to see if it works until new egg arrives.👍
5 Minute Man removed the membrane and no are is entering the pipes so seems to have done the trick. Thanks again.
Thanks
Really helpful video.. can I confirm when u fill yours you use only a basic chlorine tablet and never have to use ph + or ph - ? I'm not sure if I'm being too fussy on these levels aswell..ive never used the tablets just been granules I bought with starter pack..appreciate ur advice..

I used a solar cover for a paddling pool then cut it to a circle👍
Hi have you got a video/link for the solar heater & how you set it up please

Hi I just bought mine do I need to add chlorine before I use it?
Yep but if you dont have any a couple of days of tap water chlorine will cover you.
Thanks. I put some on and will use in 24 hours.
Hi Thank you for the video! Had mine for 3 days and have the starter kit granules. But im struggling to get the High Alkalinity down despite several times using the reducer. Would the tablets in the dispenser solve this hassle?
I found adding granules a real pain so thats why i switched to tablets. I didnt worry too much about acidity/alkalinity after switching. Clearwater describe the tablets as following "Clearwater 1 Kilogram Multifunction Mini Tablets are an incredibly simple way to maintain clear and hygienic hot tub water. The Multifunction Mini Tablets treat your spa water in a number of ways. As well as containing chlorine, which kills bacteria and other bacteria, by disinfecting water, the tablets also contain an algaecide solution. Many hot tub owners only use algaecide when algae has invaded their hot tub but water treatment tablets are a fantastic way to defeat algae before it has become visible to the eye. Another benefit of the Clearwater Multifunction Mini Tablets is that they contain a water clarifier. Some debris and particles that find their way into water, such as dead skin and algae, are too small to be trapped by the hot tubs filter system."👍😉
@@fiveminuteman oh fantastic, really appreciate that. I was getting stressed as it's mainly for the kids and don't want any illnesses due to chemical imbalances!! 🙈
Hi, thanks for the video. I have just purchased a lazy spa. Would you just recommend the chlorine tablet ? Shall not bother with the PH minus / plus etc
You need the multa tablet and that should sort everything. Test the ph with the test strips and only then think about PH minus/plus stuff👍

@@fiveminuteman sorry didnt see that bit 🙈
How often do u run the filter? Should it be running 24/7 or an hour or two a day?
I run just during the day and not at night. You can run 24/7 as the pump is quiet only making a fair bit of noise when bubbles are on.😀

Would be interested in your solar panel heater setup - ours will be in our conservatory, but a solar heating setup would be very useful....please?

What made you decide to completely remove the rubber to increase filtration? I’ve wondered about it but haven’t dared to mess with something the manufacturer designed...is this a common tip to remove the black rubber strips at the top? It makes sense but I’d be really upset if I did permanent damage to my filter housing.
Increased flow rate helped with filtration of grubby children and dead flies.
@@fiveminuteman I did read somewhere that the filter is designed to only filter water to a certain point because it will damage inside the main pump if it’s filters the water completely so be careful.
Great video man! These spas are great but a bit of a pain maintenance wise. I was thinking of purchasing that set but now I’ll probably just get the tablets.
I’m wondering do they stop the water getting cloudy?
Should do. If it all goes wrong empty and fill.
That’s some really good advice - thanks. That said I’m finding the water changed to a green colour within about 3-4 days and then replacing the water fill in full. Any tips on keeping to a less frequent water change? Am using chlorine tablets and dispensers same as yours and wonder if I’m overdosing on chlorine as I turn the vents of the dispenser on full and I noted you close yours.
Have a go at using the multifunction tablets if you are not using them already. When I switched to them I found it a whole lot easier to manage the water quality. The mushroom I tend to keep the vents almost closed to evenly slow dose throughout the day.
You'll probably need to shock treat the water to clear it. This kills any organic growth and breaks it down. I've been reading up on it as we got our spa a few weeks ago and needs doing. Some places say do it weekly, some say every 2-3 week, it saves changing the water every week or so. It's done with chlorine or a non-chlorine treatment. The chlorine shock is done by adding chlorine so it's 20ppm, (please check this though) then waiting for it to return to normal levels. (which could take a few days) Using the non-chlorine treatment method means the spa can be used again a lot sooner. I've just done mine for the first time tonight so should be crystal clear in the morning. I used the non-chlorine method as this is quicker.
This link will tell you more.
www.lay-z-spa.co.uk/blog/how-to-shock-dose-your-spa/
I just noticed the chlorine dose shown on their charts is for their chemicals, check your bottle for shock dosage.
Great video - thanks for sharing the routine with us. Am I correct in assuming the filtration pump stays on and connected continuously regardless of use, and the heater is switched on before you use the spa to bring it up to temperature and the bubble jets are obviously only on when you're actually sitting within the spa?
I managed to just run the filtration pump during the day so off at night, but this depends if you are using it in th evening or not. Depending on where you live the heater can take time to bring water temp up to 25-30c so this can take a couple of hours. Bubbles are basically on demand. It's a great bit of kit and soon I will have mine out again. Get the floor tiles so you have some insulation and also keep the cover on when not in use.
Thanks for the reply; I've got Solar PV panels on my house so I don't mind keeping everything running, I want it nice and hot! Just not sure which model to purchase, their are so many and so many variations with prices between amazon and the manufacturer, I think amazon have older models for a cheaper price?@@fiveminuteman
@@imranmajid1978 There are quite a few models available and nice you have solar to supplement the heater. I wasn't aware of Amazon selling older models and I only went with them as I like their returns policy should anything go wrong.
@@imranmajid1978 which one did you end up buying? Like you am lucky I have PV on the roof but I found 40c to hot I choosed the paris and have used it twice now.
@@sunnyokunuga542 I purchased Miami, I think it was around £300 at the time, 40C is fine for me! But I noticed when using the jets for an extended period of time (over 30 mins) the water does loose a great deal of heat, it can go down to around 38C in that time. I'm actually thinking of selling as the chlorine seems to be effecting the kids skin. Also, it's a very energy intensive item to use.
Any ideas on why my Vegas is leaking droplets of water from the bubbles pipe. I took it off an retightened it and same problem. Just bought it
Check that the rubber seal is in place. There was another one doing the same thing.

Hi can you help with a high ph. I’ve used the minus 4/5 times now. It’s not really decreasing it. I have lazy spa Paris. Water is clean. 5 days in. Only been used twice. For 1 hour each time. We shower before use. Just can’t get the ph down. Thanks in advance.
Ph should be between 7.2 and 7.6 so what do you have?
Add fresh water you will what’s called pH lock
Hi great video but how do i measure the ph minus and ph plus please I'm so confused thanks
You should have received testing strips with the tub that you dip I the water and check on the chart. They normally include only a few strips though to get you started.
I’ve had the hot tub heating overnight to keep it warm but it’s draining my electric, will the heat drop loads if it’s left off? I also thought if I goes under your set temperature it automatically turn the heater back on? Thanks.
So in the UK look to about £50 per month extra on your electricity bill. Make sure you have foam tiles underneath and at night always put the cover on with an additional bubble wrap type cover over top of water. Temperature drops are normal depending on ambient temperature outside this can vary.
It will drop roughly 10’c over night depending on ambient temperatures. Getting it up to temperature costs around £5-£7 from cold. Cheapest way is to leave the heater on all the time at temperature. Costs around £1.50 a day. If you leave it off it will cost you a fortune to heat back up..... welcome to the world of Spa owners..... 👍🏻😉

Sure ua-cam.com/video/RyyOMnntb5g/v-deo.html
Why did you take off the rubber in the filter housing ? It's there for a reason surely ? I can imagine taking it off will increase the intake of water through the filter , but wont that potentially overwork the filter meaning changes more frequently.
Pretty sure it was for throughput, but will probably put it back on this year.
It's to stop crap dropping back in when removing

I used to use that stuff in my fish tank years ago. But it was the FINAL stage of filtration to catch the smallest particles. The way its being used here is a pre-filter, which seems the wrong way around imo.
I use a degreaser to clean the filters so i never buy any, and i use stabilised granuals and a tester kit for ph levels, i leave the top on to heat it up and it takes all day to heat up, it tales 24hrs to set up a lazy spa properly but be aware do not put to much chlorine in as it can do damage to your skin and the vapours can send you to sleep, i do recommend you by the head rest for it as it gives your head and neck support. when i turn the heater on my vegas it pops the fuse. Just starting doing this, it worked fine for a few days this year. Can't heat the water at all. I'd guess the heater is finished, anyone know for sure? Don't know whether to try a new heater?
Confirm you have the correct size fuse in the plug. If you have and its blowing then sounds terminal. How old is it as it may be under warranty.
It has a 13 amp fuse. It's about 6 years old I think, everything else works only the heater pops the fuse. I've taken it all apart and cleaned what little debris I found but the issue is the same. Not sure whether to try buying a new heater.
@@furrytomatoes sounds like its toasted. Buy a new pump heater or perhaps go secondhand on ebay just for a pump. It's in great nick actually, only the heater issue, it had a leak and I had just replaced the seal on the water pump and then this happened a few hours later. £70 for a heater so I want to be sure

Nice video mate. straight to the point some nice tips. I’ll deffo have to try the wool around my filter 👍
We have just purchased a Honolulu tub it’s showing 6cf when we turn it on can anybody offer help it brand new we haven’t inflated yet
You have to hold your finger on the power button for 3 seconds or so. So stupid this is not in the instructions
Filter doesn't need to be cleaned everyday especially if the cover is being used
Covers are great and I have one that came with the hot tub, but when walking around with wet feet you bring quite a bit of dirt in to the water and ultimately the filter. If your not using the hot tub all the time then the filter can be left for a few days.
@@fiveminuteman also I am thinking of wrapping a pair of old tights around the filter what do you reckon?

What they like on electric mate
On all the time extra £50 per month on your bill. Switched on and off as required about £20. If switched off for a couple of days the temperature of the water drops more so switching on for use you would have to wait 2-3 hours for temperature to rise.

It can be a little tricky screwing the filter housing back on. Make sure nothing is blocking the inside of the filter screw thread.👍
Screw on just the base by itself. then put the filter in and cover w/ screw. . This should solve your problem. You can reach down and pull upward on the outside hole that pulls it up straighter but the real trick is by itself,

Do you leave the filter on all the time or.....?
If the tub is being used daily I would leave it on filtering 24/7
How often should you run your filter?
Its recommended to run 24/7 although if your not using it every day like us we would have it on during the day only. Filter only running is about 45w so low power consumption. We did clean out the filter every week though as they do pick up alot of hair, bugs etc.

Yep the tablets last several days so you can use straight away. The tap water you filled the tub with has a low level of chlorine in so that covers you for a few days. Have fun 😀
Top man👍🏻thanks for the good advice 5minute man👍🏻
Are you still about dude, question needs to be answered if poss👍👍👍
Bit busy right now, but instruction book should have everything you need. I'm just a reviewer of the one I bought so not sponsored by the manufacturer. The company from what I understand are very helpful.
Time to switch those hot tubs on Britain!⛲🍹🍾🍸🍹🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
pH is important do not not get your pH adjusters
Is it me, or is the product information that comes with this product the F*ing worst you have ever experienced? Seriously. Min is heating up, and I thank you for the information about the tablets, though someone else told me all you need is baking soda. Oy Vey!
Glad it helped👍
Open g they are rubbish
Not a hot tub.....big boys paddling pool

Oooohhhh em gee WHY with that dog shrieking dog in the background!
My god you need to calm down. I live in something called 'the countryside' and funnily enough people keep things called 'dogs'.
