Blizzard already ruined Overwatch with DEI. The fact that you can clearly observe what they did to their own IP and how it caused it to go from the top to mediocre is hilarious. In 2016 the game reached 35 million players, by 2020 only about 1/10th remained at best. When they tried to revive it with 2 in 2022 25 million showed up for a few months but now it's limping along with numbers barely better than Suicide Squad. The idea that making a game just like it but with a triple shot of DEI is beyond stupid. If you want to succeed right now then read the room, anything that has no DEI or even pokes fun at DEI is going to catch fire because people do not like to be censored, told what to think or how to behave. It's really that simple, people will always rebel against authoritarians so if you want to change something about the world then that must be done via consensus, force becomes war and then nobody wins so it's pointless. Some ideas just will not be accepted, welcome to the real world, I don't get to live in a narcissistic paradise of my own creation either. Accepting that is a big part of growing up.

What funny is that he comes off to me as racist, not because of his exclusion of white characters, but because hes a white guy, who sees himself in a place where he needs to be the white knight, pardon the pun, for minorities. Like he thinks they can’t speak up for themselves, when it comes to inequality, so he has to step in and be the saviour.
And people like him are the first to call a black person an "uncle Tom" if they don't agree with them. White people who constantly talk about how evil white people are and how oppressed black people are, are the same kinds of people that cross the street when they see a black person coming.
The graphics art style and animation quality for Concord looked amazing. We need a fun overwatch esque styled game, considering overwatch is trash.Even the overall gameplay did look interesting and engaging, with all the little interactions from the trailer (as long as they were done exact for release) But for them to act like this is beyond stupid. I was looking forward to it until they opened their mouths. Not touching it with a 10ft pole now.

I'm sort of a racist myself (by american standarts) , but this kind of game I would not care if all the characters are black/yellow/robots/wheelchairedlqgbtfolks as long as the game is enjoyable and characters are easy to tell apart from each other in combat. Your point about this being a marketing ploy is spot on.
Problem with game development is its too easy to write games with games and physics engines out there. Gone are technical expertise to overcome such as frame rates and code optimizations. Now you have no talent developers trying to make games.
Its too easy for crap to get sent through the gate. The simplicity to build games is not the problem, in fact that promotes far more for the industry than anything else. The problem is anything can get greenlit and sold. There is no quality control on the platform providers end, I see a metric ton of garbage games hit steam, xbox and psn stores daily. Should they? No they are cash grabs through and through, but, the platforms allow it because money is money. The only diamond in the rough is that steam lets you get a refund.
They don't even have an established fanbase yet, but are already trying to get rid of it. Stunning and brave.
