Madmans Esprit is a solo project of 叫號(Kyuho), with changing lineups of live members supporting the band’s live activity.
The band’s music is strongly rooted in different subgenres of black metal but, by actively mixing various influences from other genres from visual kei to Korean folk music, the band is constantly evolving its sound while keeping the core, which is described as “Depressive Suicidal Blackened Pop”.
After the successful headlining EU tour in 2019, the band had been mainly active in Asia during the pandemic, touring various venues in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
In 2023 the band won the best metal/hardcore album KMA (Korean Music Award) with its latest full-length album “나는 나를 통해 우리를 보는 너를 통해 나를 본다“ and now the band is planning to have more international tour activities followed by new releases.
The new single "Mismatch" talks about the irony of the world where tragedies and everyday life coexist and the Weltschmerz that comes from the paradoxical nature of mankind. By modernizing Seo Tai Ji inspired nu metal riffs with various influences coming from deathcore, blackmetal and even hiphop, the band once again introduces their unique sound to the world.

1:57 “the reason i can not love myself [is] because i can not love you” is such a cool line because 1) it’s closure to suicidol’s “i still love you, i just couldn’t love myself anymore” and ESPECIALLY 2) it’s closure to mangtanshi’s “but i can’t love myself because i never loved you” i’m OBSESSED

I liked that there was a slight connection between "Mismatch" and “You Don't Allow Me”
It's like I'm connecting sentences, like: "you don't allow me the salvation! I reach out my hand for salvation and it 'you' pulls my hair from behind, 'so' my final resistance 'and' my only salvation is... the death"

The way this part makes me feel omg
The sound of 'Mismatch' is extremely heavy but with a vibe of crispy pop music, it's like an evolution version of Suicidol. Plus that punk look it really kills.
Btw, I know it's only 2 syllables, but how Kyuho read the word 'mismatch' at 02:29 kinda reminds me the same rhythm of 'Beast'^ Blood' (Malice Mizer's 'Beast of Blood'). No offends.

I'm speechless, It absolutely exceeded my expectations, a very unique mix of many musical genres.
The authenticity that Kyuho is able to provide is a gem that you will not see anywhere else.

Thoroughly rocked by this release. The lyrics are excellent, the composition has just enough variety, the vocals are perfectly chaotic. This'll be on repeat for days. Madmans Esprit never disappoints.

Very good and high quality work as always! I liked the lyrics of the song, they are very deep and about important things. I think most people who listen to the lyrics will be able to somehow find themselves there, and this is what makes the lyrics being like that. I also really liked the sound and melody. When there was just a teaser I immediately noticed that there are may be some new musical elements and genres, and after listening the whole song, it was like that and it sounds really stunning! The song is really powerful! The MV is good as well! Everything is dynamic and well filmed. The combination of parts with neon/colorful lights and black and white parts is wonderful. All together looks very unique, well done! I really enjoyed listening to the song and watching the MV~

Thats really good song, especially I love way you sing in 0:55. I had high expectations after previews on live and I'm not disappointed with finally results. The topic of the lyrics is something I often have in my mind, this is so relatable. And also I have some words about mv, I like this is basic but the work of camera and editing made this something more. After today's stream and your words I wish in the future we can saw you with more darker makeup because I think that's gonna suit you, especially in type of mv like Mismatch that's gonna be cherry on a top.
