Thank you for this video! How can I fix the issue of becoming friends with my subordinate and I am their manager? We just naturally had such good chemistry and energy a friendship just happened. But there are times I feel like she doesn’t respect me as her manager. I’m now regretting not seeing this from the beginning, but I try to be a positive person and lead with autonomy for others. I worked my way up and became lead. Here is what was disappointing: despite being friendly, approachable, assertive and stern (when I needed to be), there were women who would refer to my co-lead on his off days, knowing very well I would be in charge for the day. These women were in their 60’s and one was a woman of color (which was so disappointing). I told my sister and she said that male mysoginism runs deep. They would rather run to the man and behave submissive to him, even when they knew I was in charge. The men (surprisingly) stood up for me and always referred back to me, “you should her because she is in charge today” and nothing. No thank yous either
