What my son doesn't eat in his lunch is his after school snack when he gets home. Got tired of wasting so much food! They usually want to eat a few bites at lunch & rush outside to play with their friends. Love videos like this.
I watch a lot of mom's who make school lunches for their kids because I like the different ideas for my packed lunches for college. It is so surreal to me to see what kids won't eat! My brother and I got a sandwich (usually plain with one slice of cheese or one slice of ham or one slice of bologna), an apple sauce or yogurt, and one extra small side item everyday from Kindergarten through 3rd grade. We always ate every bit and usually wanted something else too, but that's all we got. I would have been amazed with fresh fruit, hot mac and cheese or pepperoni and cheese kebabs for lunch!
Would you please consider doing a video with each girl doing a Design Your Own Lunch time. I would love to see what each child would pack for herself and her sister. Your girls so cute!
I bought a bunch of small dipping sized plastic containers for all of the food in my kids lunches. What they don't eat they know to make sure the lid is completely shut so that I can put it back in the fridge when they get home. They eat it as a snack after school or I save it for the next day. Saves on waste and gives them a good snack for after school!
I’m from Denmark so our lunches are really different. We usually have coarse multigrain rye bread as open faced sandwiches and even though my kids are picky they eat 3 pieces every day plus veggies and cheese stick, raisins ect. But then they hardly eat any dinner. They are so picky at dinner time
These videos are great! Thanks for sharing, packing lunches for picky eaters is challenging. There was a time my son would only eat ketchup and apple slices. It gets better!
kids eating, period is a struggle in our house! Their tastes & desires change minute by minute so I am happy if I can get them to eat anything! Good choices & loved the mac & cheese tip! That is one thing my kiddos will eat consistently!
HI Gia!! I love watching your simple lunches. You are giving me ideas on how to fix my 4 yr old lunch. Where did you get their lunchboxes? I love them!!
I have two children with autism. They love sameness and routine. But many children do. I wonder if you find one lunch they both like and provide that for a week and alternate weekly rather than changing daily. As many have said, we grew up with a sand which (in my case vegemite or peanut butter) a piece of fresh fruit and a packet of chips daily for every day of our schooling. My children have planet boxes (to save on cling wrap and packaging etc) but generally get a ham and cheese sandwich with variations occasionally. (Plus fruit for “fruit break” and a snack- homemade or something special from Costco).
ii love love love that yummy box! thx so much for sharing ive never seen it before. I think you may be giving your kids too many options at once in their lunch box and/or too much food to eat in general. try giving them less and see what happens.
That has to be frustrating trying to find something they will eat. Hopefully you will be able to figure Ava out & what she will eat. Good luck! Mom life can be tough!
Yessss! I got so excited when I saw this in my feed. I binged watched your videos this morning, took a break to get those glass containers you have from Costco and just came back to see a new video from you! My favorite kind of video too! 😁
Have u tried sending yiur youngest with a bowl of pasta/stir fry/rice bowl...sometimes easier foe them to manage when they r little and don't have much time to navigate so many things, and you can cram the veg and protein in as you see fit, it's also colourful and appealing and you can vary it. That was the breakthrough foe my daighter when she was little.
Have you tried giving them some type of dip? Like pizza sauce to go with their pepperoni and naan bites or mustard/ketchup for the lunch meat and bread. Maybe that would help? I know kids can be very picky, but sometime they love dipping things.
Have you tried talking to your daughters about wasting food/not eating? It might help. I wonder if they're getting too preoccupied with talking at lunch too.
Lisa, I agree with you. Lunchtime at school is “too much” for many children. Not just the amount of food, but the environmental and social demands of a busy cafeteria. It is loud and busy and for many children, the only chance they had for social communication since they left home. By the time they settle down and get ready to eat, it is almost time to leave. Kids usually get better at this as they get older.
Grace Kauffman was going to say the exact same thing! The struggle is very real. Just nice to know I am not a lone. It amazes me to watch videos where the kiddos eat everything every time. Definitely not mine. One day they love something the next they don’t.
I love your videos soooooooooooooooo much your family is so nice and sweet I have a yumbox mine is like Ava’s I get lots of ideas form watching the lunch ideas hi Ava and Zara
I liek these videos, please keep doing them! My daughter is so picky so it gives me ideas (and tells me she's not the only picky child out there in the world haha!)
I loved seeing this video! That mermaid lunch bag is so cute 👍. Those non bread things from Costco look perfect for lunch - I haven’t seen them - I’ll have to keep my eye out for them.
Maybe Ava is struggling to get used to eating at school as she ate everything on her first day - it must be very scary for her! She will obviously get better - enjoy your vlogs and especially the food ones - thank you
ChelleCat I purchased my kids some from Walmart. My son has Batman and daughter Frozen. They also sell the plain colors as well. Or you can order from Amazon.
DAY ready IN bed gett ready FOR bed for SCHOOL IN SHE can have HER leftovers foods FOR HER snacks THE morning day have to eat there breakfast IN THE morning
I was SO picky. My mom used to pack me sandwiches on regular white bread & a bag of chips. On rare occasions she would send me with money for a "personal pizza" from the cafeteria and a bag a chips. I would pick the cheese off the sandwich and never tell her because I thought it would hurt her feelings 😂
Great to see that I’m not the only one with a picky eater. My daughter is 14 and is still very indecisive about what she wants to eat. LOL!! Thanks for the lunch ideas too.
Too many carbs, their belly is getting full. Carbs make you sleepy. Might be why their not finishing their food on some days. Fruit is carbs, pretzels, rolls, nan bread, Mac and cheese all carbs. Cut back on the carbs and add some veggies. Sliced cucumbers, celery sticks with peanut butter, crunchy pea pods, cherry tomatoes, sliced red peppers, etc.... 😀😀😀

I agree - it's worth a try. The food waste kills me.
My daughters school switched the way they do lunch this year. They play outside first and then eat. It works really well.

They really don't know how good they got it!
I've been binge watching these videos getting back to college lunch ideas too.
Would you please consider doing a video with each girl doing a Design Your Own Lunch time. I would love to see what each child would pack for herself and her sister. Your girls so cute!
Thats a great idea! I'll definitely film that!

I don't have any kids yet, but as a educator, I really liked seeing the fact that you pay attention to what they do and don't eat while at school.
Thanks so much! Watching in 2022 and I’ll make sure to make note of what my Kinder doesn’t eat!
These videos are great! Thanks for sharing, packing lunches for picky eaters is challenging. There was a time my son would only eat ketchup and apple slices. It gets better!
my twins are the same way. one drawback to having so much is this unwillingness to eat what’s provided!
True!
I think a great idea would to use one container as a try new foods so they can get more of a variety
Great video! My daughter eats any of her leftovers for afternoon snack.

I’m not criticising- you have provided amazing lunches. I’m just pondering :-)
Love these videos! My daughter is also in kindergarten and is a very picky eater. It can be very exhausting!!
Yes! It is!

You are right! I need to talk to them about it.
Hey Gia, are the girls still in Montessori school? If so (or not) how did you come to the decision for this form of schooling?
The struggle is real 🤦♀️I have the same issue with one of my boys.
Love your videos 💓

Caffeinated Momma not mine either. I sometimes feel like a short Oder cook 👩🍳. Tonight I made 3 different dinners 😩
Hi. Have you ever thought about doing a video on why you chose a Montessori?
Excellent school lunch video!
Love it Gia!! I will be using these Tips! 💖
They eat when they are hungry. Don't fret so much, they will come to it at their own time. Love the lunch ideas!

I had an issue with my kids not eating all their food and they were simply running out of time...I wonder if your girls have a similar issue
I think so but I have 2 little talkers so I have to remind them to eat first then socialize.
