IT guy here: C-Suites don’t want MFA and don’t want to change their passwords and we don’t usually have the power to make them. This is very common among companies (I work for a 3rd party MSP with 600+ clients)

The fact that a tech giant like Microsoft wasn't using MFA consistently is utterly shocking. We're sitting ducks out here.

There's more nuance to it. If they support MFA, then it's also users' responsibilities to set it up per account. If they don't support MFA, then MSFT is itself at fault, and should support it, and perhaps make it required.
This is why Apple is spending sooo much $ & time on AI because they will perfect it before any announcement. Make sure it fits into their ecosystem & protects privacy that billions of Apple users count on. But of course the news is as tho they are losers who are doing nothing. So far from reality. For one thing they bought more AI startups than any other co.. they are dilligent when it comes to perfecting & then announcing anything.. i think it will be soon & be AMAZING & safe.

As someone who's grateful to Microsoft for likely being the single most significant force in me building my fortune. As someone who spent a decade building apps for MicrosoftPhone, simply to add more diverse apps to the MSAppStore and help the compete with Apple. And as someone's who's viciously biased against Linux and Apple for as long as I can remember, simply coz they compete with my Sensei.
I'm incredibly said to see Microsoft lose their edge, and drop in quality, coz instead of being a meritocracy, they've chosen destructive divisive woke ideology. It comes as no surprise to me that Microsoft is no longer adequately defending the servers from hackers. I bet the team who failed to do this work has a pretty rainbow of skin-colors though. They might not do their work, but gee do they look nice in a group photo.
Sometimes the best programmer does not look like the fashion-statement you want for your press releases. Microsoft has to remember this, and go back to hiring people based on raw talent... and not whether they're aesthetically pleasing. Any company that does "Diversity and Inclusion" reports is dying.

Also over that time apple was over $600 a few X & split.. so do the math.. IF you factor that in stock price is much higher than what it is... & will be again imo.
